It seems like they like everyone so I don’t think anyone will stand out as being bad. It’s not really a talent competition at this point and Adam has so much going against him for the win (jealousy, sexuality (petitions going around to get him disqualified cause of photos), too flamboyant, anger at the pimping, mad their fav gone so going to vote for underdog even if they are less talented, Adam doesn’t need the win) that he could kill it Tuesday and will probably still go home.

About the duets, is it the traditional duet, that the singers try to blend and harmonize together? Or is it some kind of a face-off duet? Like a sing-off, or something like that, where the singers try to outdo each other? If it is the latter, then I’d fear for Kris. Rock does not scream Kris Allen. He can do something about the solo, make it more him, but he cannot do much about the duel…err, I mean, the duet, because he has to compromise with whoever he gets paired with. What really screws Adam is if he gets paired with Kris. A good chunk of Adam’s fan base splits their votes between him and Kris as it is and if they duet it will just increase the amount of vote-splitting, which could even go higher if Kris doesn’t do well with his solo.

OK…we have an assignment. Since this is 70-80 rock, we need to find some mellow artists who did some real good “rock” songs so that we can all rest assured that there is something out there for Kris to bring to the table. I actually disagree that a duet between Kris and Adam would hurt Adam. I doubt anyone votes on the duets, but will on the solo performances. After Adam landed in the bottom last week, most vote splitting and/or complacency is likely to end.

He’s made a fool of himself all season, but to no avail. Like the proverbial bad penny he keeps turning up. We can only hope that his rampant toolness will be made plainly manifest on Tuesday and the voters will stay away in droves. Frankly, I am a little puzzled about this whole fear of vote splitting concerning the duet.
I don’t think that there were that many hardcore Adam fans that splitted their votes before Wednesday, but now? I think they would jump over a bridge before throwing Kris or Allison a vote.

Besides, the best partner for a duet is the one with whom you can do the best job, if for instance Adam and Kris do a brilliant job compared to Danny and Allison, you can bet they will get more casual votes thrown their way.

I think last week was the last time we’ll see Adam among the bottom feeders. As Nigel confirmed in his recent interview, the producers have no problem playing fast and loose with the second two bottom vote pullers. That implies that Kris may well have been the second lowest vote getter last week, but it made for better t.v. to imply Adam had earned that dubious distinction. Plus, any complacent Adam fans will have gotten b*tch slapped back to reality, so I doubt they’ll be risking split voting for anyone else.

Yeah, I think Adam’s bottom 3 finish had more to do with voter complacency than vote-splitting, although I’m sure the splitting was a factor. I can’t tell you how many people I know personally who didn’t vote for Adam last week because they thought by this point it was a done deal for him. Not one of them is going to make that same mistake this week. I hope the phone lines are ready for this!

I absolutely LOVE the idea of Kris and Adam singing together, esp. since they have been roommates, are friends, and respect one another’s talent. And if it is “Under Pressure” as some think the duet is, will be brilliant. There was a snippet of that on Season Five with Chris and Bucky, and they blended great.
Those dang spoilers, even if they are fake, are driving me crazy….

Last week there was 47 millions of votes, how many of those people who voted even know about this whole “Kradam” stuff?
I can buy to a bigger extent the whole Allison got votes from Adam fans because she is an edgy rocker who should appeal to the same public (altough strangely her last performance was the least likely to appeal to that public).

I think the most important phenomenom wasn’t vote splitting but voter complacency, this I could buy as a several millions of votes swing.
Adam has been treated more like a guest star than a contestant since TOMT, it shouldn’t be surprising that people forgot to vote for him.

I think Gokey is the one in trubs with this theme. THere are a lot of rock ballads that Kris could crush. Or, he could remix it up like he did on disco night.

That’s the thing that concerns me about an Adam/Kris duet .. I can picture the posts in the Kradam threads already “awww .. how cute did they look together, we’ve got to get them both to the final” ….lol

Personally I would like to see an Adam/Alison duet and I can’t even imagine an Adam/Danny duet … well I can … Adam properly rocking it out with his awesome rock wail … and Danny just shouting to try and compete with him… to me when ever Danny tries to rock up a song he ends up just shouting it angrily in my face and it’s not pleasant.

VFTW…In any other year an “Adam” would of been on the top of VFTW’s save the guy list…his OTT performances, his theatrics, etc. would have been just what they would have been looking for. But, geesh, Adam seemingly has captured some of the mainstream AI viewers and he is all of a sudden becoming somewhat relative to the “updated” music scene. Poor VFTW….this year they really are roasting in their own petard. Now they are throwing their votes to one of the most over pimped contestants, ever, on AI who seemingly has the backing of TPTB. I see your points, but on American Idol, I don’t see these duets being treated as examples of how well two singers work together. That’s how it SHOULD be, but what should happen doesn’t often go that way on Idol. If the judges want to pimp someone, they’ll pimp him/her regardless of whether their duet partner was bad or they looked like a “cocky scene-stealer.” We’ve seen from Simon that “cocky scene-stealer” is what he prefers; he doesn’t want cooperative team work. Of course, if the TPTB don’t want to make Danny look bad, they won’t pair him with Adam, and that’s the only reason they wouldn’t get paired.

This whole duet thing seems like a really last minute half-ass move to maybe save time and to create some drama. They’ve never done duets before and there’s no way this is going to work flawlessly.

I think it’s a riot that Alice Cooper’s guitarist may be there. Housemate told me they’re going to an Alice Cooper concert in August. My reaction …. you’ve GOT to be kidding me! Isn’t he in his 80s by now? Nope, he’s 61.

I think it will be an interesting week. I also think the biggest surprise is going to be Kris since so many people seem to be discounting him. When I heard the theme, I thought Moody Blues, ELO, YES, Van Morrison, Dylan, Eric Clapton (LAYLA!) and so much more.

Probably not. However, I would love to see just how close the vote count was.

I think if Adam and Kris are matched up, they will do great. They both like each other and seem to have mutual respect for each others talents. Plus the two of them have had the most success with rearranging their songs. So I think in this case two heads are better than one. And finally, with Kris playing instruments, they can rehearse around the clock.

If Allison and Danny duet, I worry that Danny might take charge and Allison won’t have much input.

I could completely be off base on this, but that is my perception.

I also think there will be no pimp spot. I think they will open the show with a duet and end the show with a duet.

VFTW is making a last ditch attempt in getting rid of Gokey. Their caricature is cursed. They really don’t care now.

There was much speculation Kris would tank with Disco and much speculation Danny wouldn’t be able to handle Rat Pack and they both ended up having probably their best performances with those themes and Matt was expected to shine last week and he sucked, so I think it’s hard to just look at the theme and predict how any of them could do.

After last week I think ALL the fanbases are going to be out in full force because everyone got the wake up call that no one is safe. I do think it will be casual votes that will tell the tale.

Yeah, I think Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s bottom 3 finish had more to do with voter complacency than vote-splitting, although Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure the splitting was a factor. I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t tell you how many people I know personally who didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t vote for Adam last week because they thought by this point it was a done deal for him. Not one of them is going to make that same mistake this week. I hope the phone lines are ready for this!

This is galling to see. The assumption seems to be that Adam’s fans either got complacent or that they were vote-splitting. I’ve seen a lot of this. Very little thought seems to be given to the idea that Allison and Danny outperformed Adam the other night. Or that Adam’s fanbase isn’t quite as big as it was purported to be. My theory is that he was getting a lot of votes because he was consistently outperforming the other Idols. That changed, at least temporarily, the other night.

Also, Ryan specifically said that Adam was in the bottom 2. Most likely he was in the bottom 2. Occam’s Razor.

This is the week Lambert can do a song by one of his Idol’s (Bowie.) If this is classic rock from the 70′s and 80′s, Kris shouldn’t have a problem.

Allison’s solo clue is too vague, since there’s a annual canadian festival for elvis impersonators(from old to young), so could be any Elvis song. Just hope Paula doesn’t just start jabbering about Allison shopping in the men’s department. That would be so wrong on so many levels.

The rest has been speculated upon. I’d look forward to “Under Pressure” by Kradam. So we’ll see, shall we? :wink_wp:

Don’t think they’ve ever been cleared (anyone, correct me if I’m wrong and someone sang GnR on the show in the past) and Slash does not have the rights.
And Axl would NEVER give clearance for this (both because it’s AI and because Slash is involved).

I really don’t get the whole vote splitting thing — in all of eight seasons I have never splitted votes. Kind of useless in my mind. Plus I really need to be invested to pick up the phone for two hours. I guess if you only vote two or three times, that would work.

Under Pressure by Adam and Kris would be awesome. Adam must do some Queen or Aerosmith but I know that is too obvious. But he could kill!! Just hope he does what he feels he needs to do to win. Whether it be over the top or something toned down. He is damned either way so he needs to make his mark and hope for the best. He is gonna be such a superstar when this is all over. If he doesn’t win, oh well he can follow his own path as I think he needs to do anyways. But just remember ADAM fans, no more vote splitting and remember to vote as hard as you can as the competition is tight!!

I might consider liking Gokey if he would do Mountain’s “Mississippi Queen”.

I think Kris would do well with “Into the Mystic” or Neil Young’s “Don’t Let it Bring You Down”. I think he could have a moment rivaling “Mad World” with the latter.

Adam will blow me away with whatever he does, for certain.

Ohhh I’m so excited about this week! Slash mentoring brings back all my Axl Rose crush years ago. Love their music. It is going to be a good week for me and seeing Slash’s tweet about Adam made my day

I hope for a Kradam duet. Under Pressure would be awesome or maybe Sweet Child O’Mine? They have good friendship so I don’t think the duet will hurt either or them. Plus if Kris was really in a disadvantage this week or was out, at least he would have the best week ever and has fun with his Idol friend. In all interviews he seems to really look up to Adam as a big brother.

Adam/Allison are not gonna happen people! They gotta do a co-ed, not all girls’ duet.

But, geesh, Adam seemingly has captured some of the mainstream AI viewers and he is all of a sudden becoming somewhat relative to the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“updatedà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  music scene. Poor VFTWà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.this year they really are roasting in their own petard. Now they are throwing their votes to one of the most over pimped contestants, ever, on AI who seemingly has the backing of TPTB. In fact, really, they donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have anyone to throw votes at. Ha, Ha, jokes on them.

Yeah, but if he wins over Adam, they claim it was their doing and now TPTB are stuck with Taylor Hicks’ less talented clone. If he looses, they claim the ‘curse’ worked and they’re happy because they hate him. It’s a win-win situation for them.

I’m glad Slash is mentoring. Hopefully he lives up to his tweets and the contestants really deliver this week. I love rock, so this should be fun!
