Without Siobhan, this season is painted black, lol. No color anymore.

WOW! She was stellar on Letterman. I supported her on Idol and I’ll keep looking for her beyond Idol. Love me some Siobhan and glad she hit the big note with clarity. She looked great too.

So Letterman liked her, that’s cool. I’m sure we’ll hear more about Siobhan, don’t know when or how but she’s too talented to go back to being a glassblower.

I hope 19E gets her connected in NYC. I think she’d do well there.

I saw some of the performance and some of his post comments, not all, but thought he really liked her! Yay Siobhan, way to make an impression! :D

ETA: I ‘d love to see all his post performance comments, but the pre-performance were pretty awesome! Still looking forward to mainly Crystal and Casey tom. night, but hope something comes through for Siobhan.

Great! She’s so young and inexperienced but I’ve always believed she has the raw talent. And she’s interesting and an individual. I do think she has a shot of success since she does standout from the dull five left.

(ha even though I love Casey as in a reality show contestant way and don’t want him to leave and want him to make a living doing music BUT I realize his voice isn’t all that and I’m just trying to find enjoyment on Tuesday nights in an extremely dull and weak talented cast)

I must have seen a different show, because I hear – nasality, words mumbled together, breathiness, an unneccessary scream and a theatrical weirdness at the end. Like she was trying to fit every possible type of singing into one 90 second song. Plus, Dave has treated all the cast offs just like he did tonight. In fact, I thought he talked longer with Paige?

I think she has such an interesting voice. I hear a little classic Linda Ronstadt in her.. and see it in her face, too…

I still can’t believe she got voted off. That pained black was spectacular. She hit the high note properly. It fit with the style of the song. She really has a great voice. I am starting to see that she may go toward a jazz direction. Anyway I really wish she was still on the show. I want to wear black just to mourn her being gone. :-(

I thought the same thing although I am not sure. He did seem enchanted by her. She’s got a very cute, unique look. I love that he thought her tights were tattoos!

Siobhan is my favorite Idol contest since Carly and I think both of them got were less than fully appreciated during their respective runs.

I agree. I do, however, think Carly has more control over her voice. I liked parts of Siobhan’s Letterman performance and parts of it were meh. Carly is older, however, and has more experience, and that shows. I can recall a few of Carly’s performances which I think were “moments.” Jesus Christ Superstar, Come Together and the Dolly Parton song, Here You Come Again.

I’m not sure why rocker girls (see Allison and Carly) can’t ever make it to the finals. I guess Kelly is a close as we can come to a rocker girl, but she wasn’t portrayed that way during her run. And come to think of it Siobhan wasn’t portrayed as the rocker girl either. I know she was considered the punk girl, but to me, she did get that across on her AI run. I think of Crystal as more of a folk singer, don’t know why, but I do. :)

I think Siobhan does have some raw talent and was one of the most interesting this year. At times I thought she was good, but there were times that I thought her voice wasn’t as good and needed more control, like when she would do some of her screams.I just think she needs more vocal training to get more control, and some more experience.

Crystal is more of a folk singer….& a great one…i love her but….I want to light a fire under her butt!…She might get lucky & have a tracy chapman type Hit…If shes lucky.

She did a superb job on Letterman, that was pure awesome! And I wasn’t even a big fan of her’s on Idol, but that was just terrific. You could tell from the smiles on the bandmembers faces when she was hitting those notes that something special was going on. That band has played with a million singers and they reacted like Siobahn was a genuine treat for them.

The Letterman performance was brilliant.

For me, for you… she was pitchy. I like her, but her middle range is wonky. I actually like her higher register, but that’s about it.

Yeah, hmm. The winner goes on Leno but all of the cast offs go to Letterman. Weird. As far as how he treated her, I thought he seemed about the same he has with everyone. He told Tim last week that he thought he (Tim) should have just won the whole thing too, so it’s kinda like a stock line of his at this point. I do think he respects them for doing what they’ve done but his praise is probably kinda hollow too – I doubt he really expects to see much out of most of the cast offs or even the winner. If they make a career for themselves after the show, then sure, he’d probably be more than willing to bring them back on the show then, lol. But I do like Dave, always have. Much better than Leno, and was also better than Conan IMO. The only late night host that can come close to Dave…follows him. Craig Ferguson. But I digress.

I thought she was terrific in both performances; but I was really impressed by the subtlety of her on Access Hollywood. Her voice sounded so fresh, young and unforced. I wish we had seen more of that on Idol.

Holy crap! Siobhan sounded AMAAAAAAAAAAZING on Letterman! Gosh, I liked her so much at the early point in the competition and now I remember why. This was the right song for the wail at the end… and she really sounded great.

I get so wrapped up in my idoltardness that I forget these are just kids. So many times – this season especially – we see so much more after they are voted off. Maybe they are more relaxed or maybe it’s the evil idol edit but I have loved Siobhan and Tim so much since they’ve been voted off.

I’d say that’s it. It’s been ever thus. Through the years, the majority have been better — often a lot better — during their kiss-off sing-offs than they ever were during the competition.

This year, especially, it is a very tense and nervous bunch, maybe because of a relative lack of experience as solo performing artists?

You don’t see Dave walk over and shake the hand of the idol very often. (Has he even done it b/f now this season?)

To me Siobhan has a musical theatre voice and would be good in that arena, although I still can’t stand her trademark shriek. I find it irritating, showy and unpleasant. There’s some kind of barrier she still has, some kind of looseness or connection that needs to be made if she wants to go after being a recording artist, if she indeed wants to pursue it. I can easily see her on the stage, in musical theatre and maybe TV or movies. Although I bet her stubbornness, which she identifies as individuality and wears with pride, could be a deterrent. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with her career.

I found her Letterman performance so, so much better than her PIB on the live show. In fact, it may be the best I’ve ever heard from Siobhan, who never really made me into a fan, so props to her.

Suzanne…I think he did come over after Adam sang and shook his hand. (But I might me wrong on that.) And I don’t think Adam did a sit down interview with David but he did a great one with Jay Leno.

How does that song go? She looks like an angel, talks like an angel, walks like an angel? That’s Siobhan. Everything about her comes straight from heaven. Oh, and she can sing too. I wish the best for her.

I have yet to watch Siobhan’s latest performances, but aside from the voice, one of the things I think she has going for her is that she has this offbeat charm that seems to sort of enchant people, at least in person. I’m not even talking about on Idol really, and I realize the argument against that is if she were so enchanting she would still be on the show. But all the guys in the Dream House seemed positively smitten with her she was there, as have the Idol bloggers that were there (Lyndsey Parker, Shirley Halperin). She’s get Letterman eating out of the palm of her hand. Jim Cantiello declared her the coolest Idol ever after their meeting. LOL. It’s funny.

Siobhan seems to be talking in a little less of a stoner way. Her words are coming faster than when she was on Idol. She looks good and her singing on Paint it Black was great. However, the scream at the end ruined it all for me. She doesn’t have the same voice control as Adam. He can get away with the high notes and they sound great. She just sounds like she’s screeching and it’s ear splitting in an unpleasant way.

Siobhan is quite adorable. She has a certain charm. If she can figure out just how to package that musically, I think she’s got something.

I hate when people say “For you for me” to make fun of Randy. It is not right. At least it’s not the right way to do it. The correct way to do it, you ask? You exaggerate it. For example, “For you for me for me for you for the world for the children for me…..” is just dandy.

Just kidding :P.

At any rate, I loved this from Siobhan. I’ve actually been listening to her version way more than the original, and I loved the original. I can’t believe she was voted off either, but I’m not killing over it.

Paint it Black on Letterman was phenomenal. She nailed it. The “scream” gave me chills this time around.

She sings well, then – ouch – she stops and yells/screams like in a horror movie – then sings again. What is the matter with her mind because she herself said she would stop “screaming” Siobhan called it a scream on AI, said she just wanted to do the scream =cuz it is a high note= to get into the top ten and then would stop screaming. She still screams.

I check MJS blog everyday, it is the best blog! ;-) But, I just don’t have time to post as much as I used to. I just wanted to comment that Sio was very good in both Letterman/Access performances. BUT, bit BUT, Letterman is a complete jerk! I am a native New Yorker and for those that do not know, the Letterman show is based in New York City. With that in mind I never cared for Letterman. Ever! JOHNNY CARSON all the way!!! RIP Johnny! Anyhow, he did not need to make a statement as “I don’t care about anyone else, but I think you should be the next American Idol”. Blah, blah, blah. I wonder what Letterman is planning to tell the other eliminated contestants!!!! He can be such a dufus! He probably hasn’t even watched this season of AI or hasn’t even viewed Sio’s performances or any of the other contestants! UGHHH!

Another negative comment from me, I’m afraid. Siobhan simply can’t “sing.” She is constantly out of tune and simply screams. I’m astounded at the attention given to her so-called style (both musical and fashion-wise) since being voted off. I think that might be a result of surprise at her ouster last week rather than admiration.

On the other hand, I thought Dave was horrid – that tights comment – ick! And he seemed reluctant to introduce her – do we think he didn’t know how to pronounce her name and wanted to hear someone else say it first?

What a wonderful show and what a perfect performance. Most of the media has acknowledged the fantastic vocal performance Siobhan did on David Letterman. I loved it!

Paul Shaffer has worked with the best there is, and you could tell how much he and the band enjoyed working with such a young talent with so much potential. I think Harry Connick, Jr. regrets not being able to work with Siobhan.
