Siobhan Magnus made her first stop on her whirlwind post-Idol media tour on the Ellen Degeneres Show, airing today.

After a little chat with Ellen (She and her crew were convinced Siobhan would make the Top 3) Siobhan performed “House of the Rising Sun.”  Check out the video after the jump.

Tonight, Siobhan visits the dreamers at the If I Can Dream house, and on Monday, she’s set to appear on Late Show with David Letterman.

Siobhan was pretty incredible on the “If I Can Dream House” appearance. She sang about four songs while playing piano (songs like “Halo”, plus a few Hanson songs), and after she got over her initial shyness, she was really very funny and edgy. The girl tells the truth, but with tact, and revealed some good dirt and told some fun stories from behind the scenes at AI (she’s definitely aware of all the conspiracy theories about her departure). A lot of her fans (like me) got a thrill when she answered our questions via Twitter. She plays piano surprisingly well, and I think that if “Dream House” did anything, it revealed how much Siobhan was cramped by the fixed AI themes each week. She wanted to sing Evanescence, for example, but it didn’t fit into any of the themes. Just fyi to anyone who didn’t listen (and who wants to know), she was planning to do the Sex Pistols’ version of “My Way” for Sinatra week, and on the canceled “Teen Idols” week she would have sung “To Sir, With Love”. For the tour, she’s hoping one of her songs will be “Ball and Chain” (Janis Joplin).

Oh, she also mentioned that she wanted to sing “Across the Universe” on Ellen, but was told that the fee to get approval would be $20,000! No word on what she’ll sing on Letterman (she either didn’t know or wouldn’t say).

Thanks CynicalDog for that summary of “If I Can Dream House” episode. I’m now sorry I missed it. After watching Tim’s post Idol interviews and now Siobhan’s I think these two will have successful careers in the future. I love their outlook and positive ways of seeing things. American Idol’s behind the scenes agendas and idiotic dated themes have become the death knell of this show. They want Bowersox to win for some unfathomable reason despite the fact she has placed herself firmly in a decades old box.

I appreciate the additional infromation CynicalDog! Thank you!

Siobhan did seem very comfortable with Ellen. I loved Ellen’s comment, when she clearly says, “You are such a star.” Also, how Ellen said “way to show ‘em!” when she hugged Siobhan after she sang. She did such a wonderful job!

Since Paint It Black is on the Idol CD, I am sure she’ll be singing that song. It looks like HOTRS will also be a tour song. So, I am curious what heer other song will be?

There is not the slightest thing contemporary about Siobhan. Just saying.
