Check out this high quality promotional video of Siobhan Magnus singing with the Utrasonic Rock Orchestra. Siobhan’s uncle is the drummer of the highly theatrical troupe. URO covers the great artists of the classic rock era, like the Who, Led Zepplin, Queen and more.

Siobhan has made several guest appearances with the band and will appear in a special concert at the Cape Cod Melody tent on June 18. Lucky, me! I have 2nd row tickets thanks to some very generous fans of Siobhan…

Watch Siobhan sing “Helter Skelter” with the URO below.

Sure, I’d like to have Siobhan sing pretty, but I think she’s credible rockin’ on a song like Helter Skelter. I appreciate the energy and enthusiasm on this blast from the past.

I always get a kick out of the “technical” discussions about Siobhan’s singing. It’s much more simple for me: She’s a great singer and with time I hope she will become a great performer. Videos like this show that she is off to a great start.

She always looks like she’s trying way too hard to be something that doesn’t come natural for her. She really wants to be edgy and cool and weird and interesting, but it just comes off fake and “poser-ish” to me.

It only looks to me like she’s trying to put on a good show, and it seems to be working. I’d go see her in concert.

I do like Siobhan. Always thought she had HUGE potential. But she is exhibiting much the same kind of singing that ultimately turned me off to her on the show.

This is exactly the kind of singing that turned me on to her in the first place. This and songs like Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” which she’s covered with her band.

I also loved that she could then turn around and do something like “Across the Universe” or “House of the Rising Sun”.

I thought that was pretty rockin’. I like Siobhan–she was one of the highlights of the Season 9 tour for sure. As far as the screaming goes, that is pretty much how you do metal. The only question is whether her vocal chords has sustain it night after night for a full set on tour–some can.

MJ, how lucky you get to have great seats to see Siobhan perform! I envy you. Siobhan’s fans are very caring people and love to have fun. After that, you can tell us if the band makes or breaks the songs.

Siobhan is just oozing with talent and is one of the most interesting and colorful voices to come out of Idol. Perhaps in a studio, slight imperfections can be corrected?

I actually think she is edgy and cool and weird and interesting. I’m gonna guess every rock person in history hears they are a poseur until they make their first gazillion. You gotta start. And you gotta start somewhere.

Perfectly accurate statement! I think she can sing rock and metal, but also pop rock. I wish her much success!
