Siobhan Magnus is back home on Cape Cod, where the local newspaper, the Cape Cod Times caught up with her.

Siobhan shares her thoughts about the competition, what was going through her head when she was eliminated, and her whirlwind media tour afterward.

Plus, Siobhan talks fashion–she didn’t begin putting her wildly imaginative ensembles until after she chose her song for the week.

    Love the hat! So cute.

    This girl is just adorable.

It looks like a really small town, never been to Cape Code but she must have been the biggest celebrity out there.

Anyone who likes Siobhan should check out the idolatry with Slezak, it was a little lost in the headlines yeasterday so I’m not sure everyone got to see it.
It’s almost half hour of the glassblower and it’s epic.

(btw, you do a great job MJ, but I wonder why the idolatry interviews don’t have their own posts this year on the contrary of last season?)

The Idolatry interviews were awesome. I highly recommend them. They were a good reminder of why I really gravitate to Siobhan as a person, and also how good her performances were at the beginning of the season. Also confirmed to me that she’d be a poor fit for A19 or whatever it’s called.

And Cape Cod is beautiful. I hope she gets some nice time at home to enjoy the spring and early summer before she tours.

I don’t know what Siobhan’s future will shape up to be. This concentration on the visual aspects of her performance over the musical elements certainly was very apparent to me, which is why I stopped voting for her. It still seems like she takes this whole Idol experience as a fun lark. I don’t think anyone can succeed in the difficult music industry with that kind of perspective. She’ll have to do some serious growing up, learning and listening if she really wants to go for it. Otherwise, it seems she’s happy enough living in Cape Cod performing in clubs and local theatre.

It is a small town. The population swells in the summer, but during the winter it’s pretty quiet there. Yeah, Siobhan on Idol has been a pretty big deal to the peeps there.

I’m going to try to attend the homecoming party I’m sure the town will be throwing for Siobhan. That is, if the townsfolk don’t run me out of town with torches and pitchforks. ;)

    Well I hope it happens.
Don’t forget to bring your camera (for us), a desguise (for you) and some earplugs (for your ears il she sings).

I was really impressed with Siobhan’s description of her state of mind before, during and after her elimination. She has a very creative mind, but at the same time is very precise in her description. She should write.

  • dfeeel2

Agreed Mj, why no emphasis on Idolatry anymore

  • ray1

Oh my!…I REALLY miss her on the show…For me, the only real artistic/unique person this year…if only she had made it to the finals-THAT would have been quite a show to see what she came up with on the “big night”!!!!!

  • CRB

Siobhan’s Idolatry is awesome and these Cape Codcasts are also very interesting as well. It sounds like Siobhan finally got that cold that she said on If I Can Dream that she hadn’t caught yet.

  • mgk

I kind of love her after her Idolatry interview, and I think she has a beautiful tone to her voice. Too bad she couldn’t hold it together on idol. :(

I wonder if she’ll be able to apply for XFactor? I feel like having a very hands on mentor would work wonders for her.

  • RockiDreams

Thank you Shuey for that link! Great interview and boy do I miss hearing and seeing her on AI. She is interesting, smart, adorable and different. Too bad they did not bother to show more of her personality on the show. I hope nothing but the best happens for that young woman.

  • whatever4444

This was so funny!! Siobhan as always keeps everything interesting and has a great sense of humor. Wish her the best and know she will be going really far. She will be a star.

  • Grammie Kari

I agree, Siobhan is the only real artistic/unique person this year. I wish some of the judges could have been more nurturing with her. With some vocal training and the right management company, I see much success for this lovely young lady. Perhaps, Broadway or anything she makes up her mind to do?

She is so refreshing and I wish her the very best life has to offer. She will be a star.

    Asperger syndrome
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Speech and language

Although individuals with Asperger syndrome acquire language skills without significant general delay and their speech typically lacks significant abnormalities, language acquisition and use is often atypical.[5] Abnormalities include verbosity, abrupt transitions, literal interpretations and miscomprehension of nuance, use of metaphor meaningful only to the speaker, auditory perception deficits, unusually pedantic, formal or idiosyncratic speech, and oddities in loudness, pitch, intonation, prosody, and rhythm.[1]

Three aspects of communication patterns are of clinical interest: poor prosody, tangential and circumstantial speech, and marked verbosity. Although inflection and intonation may be less rigid or monotonic than in autism, people with AS often have a limited range of intonation: speech may be unusually fast, jerky or loud. Speech may convey a sense of incoherence; the conversational style often includes monologues about topics that bore the listener, fails to provide context for comments, or fails to suppress internal thoughts. Individuals with AS may fail to monitor whether the listener is interested or engaged in the conversation. The speaker’s conclusion or point may never be made, and attempts by the listener to elaborate on the speech’s content or logic, or to shift to related topics, are often unsuccessful.[5]

Children with AS may have an unusually sophisticated vocabulary at a young age and have been colloquially called “little professors”, but have difficulty understanding figurative language and tend to use language literally.[1] Children with AS appear to have particular weaknesses in areas of nonliteral language that include humor, irony, and teasing. Although individuals with AS usually understand the cognitive basis of humor they seem to lack understanding of the intent of humor to share enjoyment with others.[12] Despite strong evidence of impaired humor appreciation, anecdotal reports of humor in individuals with AS seem to challenge some psychological theories of AS and autism.[26]

Did Siobahn say she has Asperger or is this an armchair diagnosis?

I don’t get the impression that Siobhan has any trouble understanding non-literal language or humor nor do I think she’s incoherent. She’s a little rambly and monotone at times but that doesn’t mean she has AS.

How do you know that? She seems really normal and witty during her interview with Slezak. Have you heard Castro talk? lol Some people are just really laid back and low key. Even Archie has problems expressing his thoughts sometimes. It takes time to get use to the interview process. Shoot I have problems putting a sentences together myself sometimes. It really depends on the interviewer and her state of mind at the time. What do I know? lol I am not a doctor. I look forward to seeing what she does in the future and yeah she should totally write. I agree with the poster above.

  • J.S.G.

After watching the Slezak interview, makes you wonder about Siobhan’s ‘What exactly is a dark horse?’ comment.
Siobhan’s I TUNES version of that Mariah/Whitney song is incredible.
‘Paint it Black’ is the most memorable performance so far this season.

Without Siobhan, Idol’s alot less interesting.

So you’re an expert on Asperger Syndrome because you read about it on Wikipedia? Thank you for the diagnosis, even though it wasn’t asked for and is highly suspect. Why did you bother?

If you compare this interview to others, where she moves with relative ease from topic to topic – Idolatry, for example, the conclusion I came to is that here she’s a bit sheepish because she’s back in her home town and feels strange about people there making a fuss over her. She still came across as articulate, and as a listener, i wasn’t bored at all. I was however, bored with your literal interpretation, which was very wordy and self-absorbed.

Are you a doctor, nurse, or psychologist? If you said initially she’s shy, I might say maybe. But this is really ridiculous. Do you know her personally? Are you a Worster?

There is nothing boring about Siobhan. The Idol season is just not the same without her.

  • TankieGirlie

    LMAO….
