More great photos HERE.

It was a dream come true for Siobhan Magnus last night as she took the stage with her favorite band EVAH, Hanson at the La Boum in Los Angeles.

After the show, Siobhan tweeted, “most tremendous night ever. BETTER THAN WINNING AMERICAN IDOL. I just sang Weird, BeenThereBefore, HoldOnI’mComin, AND MMMBOP with HANSON!!!”

Lydsey Parker (Yahoo music) and Shirley Halperin (LA Times Idoltracker) were both there last night, and promise goodies today, so stay tuned for that.

After the jump, Siobhan joins Hanson on their smash hit “‘Mmmbop”

Have to say those Hanson kids grew up nicer than anyone could have expected. Good on Siobhan.

  • jersey

OK, the sound kind of sucks on that video, but you just can’t help but sing along, LOL. Catchiest.Song.Ever!

  • Miss Chaos

Good for her cant wait to see the rest of the goodies.

  • wellhesback

Really happy for her. The Hanson guys come across as cool people in the media and I like them as musicians.

  • TwigLA

Very cool for Siohban. I’m so glad she had that opportunity. She must have been in heaven.

Sound on the video stinks, so I couldn’t stick through it. I’m sure it was great live though. Someone needs to pass out ‘how to’ instructions for getting good sound on cameras and cel phones at concerts.

  • Mtlfan

that’s sweet for siobhan!! very happy for her!

  • Holden

The Hanson brothers were always talented kids. As adults, they have grown into a first-rate blues/pop band.

Congratulations to Siobhan. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a couple of artists that I admire, and it’s really fun and exciting — especially when they turn out to be cool people who appreciate their fans.

  • lrt

Aww, I’m happy for Siobhan. I’m looking forward to seeing her on tour!

  • CRB

Siobhan is such a sweetie. This is something she clearly only could have dreamed of prior to Idol.

  • Studio57

My son is forever mortified that Hanson was his first concert ( dragged him along when I took his sister). You just gotta love those guys.

How can you not smile when hearing that chorus, lol?

MJ- I think TwigLA has a good idea- you should give tips on video for us- I am going to three Adam concerts( yes, sigh, I turned into one of THOSE fans before I even knew it lol).

I would imagine one of the best tips is not being too close to the speakers :)

  • S0n0fLucy

I used to love Hanson, but completely forgot them when growing up lol. Because of Siobhan I’m digging them again. They’re very talented and nice people. You guys should buy Hanson’s new CD, it’s better than anything that Jonas Brothers have recorded.

  • dhunken

It must have been so gratifying for Siobhan to meet her Idols Hanson. Fun song and nice job. I still think Siobhan (with Tim) is going to do very well in her post Idol career. Siobhan has that it factor IMHO and she is intriguing and exciting and I think with the right vocal coach helping her fully understand her instrument she will be successful.

  • windmills

Awwwww I’m so happy for Siobhan!! Good for her and it sounds like she had a blast!

  • BootStar

SO happy for Siobhan! How cool was that?

No sound expert, but one thing I’ve done (and it’s worked well for me) is to sit near the sound board. If it sounds good to the guy doing the sound, it’s likely to sound good on your equipment if you have a decent camera. The hardest part, in my experience, is not getting the kibosh from security!

  • rayni

You guys should buy Hanson’s new CD, it’s better than anything that Jonas Brothers have recorded.

I love Hanson – they are my guilty pleasure and this new CD is awesome. WTG Siobhan you lucky girl – they not only rock musically but they are pretty too!

  • AIaddict

Wow! what a night for Siobhan. so glad she finally got her wish to sing with Hanson. I am looking forward to seeing Siobhan on the tour this summer.

  • SBC

You guys should buy Hanson’s new CD, it’s better than anything that Jonas Brothers have recorded.

Overall, Hanson is superior than Jonas. Music, voice, looks.

  • Adamdebomb

I used to think that Hansen was a big joke, but I have to admit, after listening to Siobhan play their songs on Dream House, that they are not half bad. And they have certainly grown up cute!

  • girlygirl

Hanson always seemed to be more talented than the “typical” cute boys band and they have put out some really goo music in recent years.

Very happy for Siobhan that she got to perform with them

  • Holden

I used to think that Hansen was a big joke, but I have to admit, after listening to Siobhan play their songs on Dream House, that they are not half bad.

They had kids’ voices back in the day, which was hard to get passed, even though the music was otherwise pretty good (“Weird” is one of my favorite songs — excellent lyrics). Now that they have men’s voices, all of their music, even the old stuff, sounds much better and has more depth.

  • Grammie Kari

This is just wonderful news that Siobhan had this opportunuty to fulfill her dream. Who knows, she may get the opportunity to tour with them. Soon lots of people will ask, “Why wasn’t that girl in the TOP 3?”

  • jujumagumbo

Siobhan’s such a cool person. I wish she could’ve sung more songs like this on Idol. I think she could’ve gotten farther if she hadn’t had that string of fall-asleep-at-your-tv songs after the top 10 or so.

  • JudyOhio

Siobhan won me over with “Think” and “Wicked Games” and House of the Rising Sun” and “Paint it Black” and I loved ALL of her wailing aka “screaming”, lol. Am happy for her that she got to perform with Hanson, fangirl that she is! Siobhan is just one more of those idols that I’m going to enjoy following to see what becomes of them post idol. The video may have lacked in sound quality, but we get the gist ;). Congrats Siobhan. You had one of your dreams come true!

  • springboard

Good for Siobhan, I am happy for her. Looking forward to watching clips of her set on the tour.

  • kiss kiss

Her enthusiasm is adorable. I’m glad she got to do this.

  • St.Lucia

Thanks for posting this MJ! I’m a huge Hanson fan so I knew about this previously.

This just made smile for Siobhan. She’s in heaven I’m sure! Hanson are such wonderful gentlemen….I’ve met them 3 times(two times just randomly walking out of a door they were coming into!) They are truly some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of talking to. They are very humble and down to earth, and my god do they put on a fantastic concert!

I encourage people all the time to buy their albums. Their newest one “Shout it Out” just came out on Tuesday and is pretty good!

I’m sure Siobhan got an autographed copy. :) I’m not at all surprised that Hanson made the time to play with Siobhan….they’re just that great! :) I also love when someone knows all the words to “MMMBop”

And because I can’t leave without drawing attention to my favorite band…Check out their “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” video off the new album. I LOVE everything about it especially “The Blues Brothers” homage. :)

Thanks MJ!! Loving all the pictures and videos.

Has this ever happen before that an idol performs before the tour is over? I had never seen something like this happen before. Congratulations to Siobhan! She deserves this and much more.

  • chessguy99

Interesting with all the stuff happening after-Idol with this years bunch. With Andrew Garcia putting stuff on YouTube, Aaron Kelly posting new songs online and Siobhan performing with Hanson; one wonders if 19E is getting less heavy handed with contestants hoping to draw more talent in next year. I have heard a few artist not try Idol due to their previous heavy-handed treatment of non-19E signed contestants. previous years they were pretty much cut off from the industry and their fans except with stuff relating to the tour.

  • JudyOhio

Has this ever happen before that an idol performs before the tour is over? I had never seen something like this happen before.

Taylor Hicks did his own shadow tour during the AI5 idol tour of his season. Others from the AI5 tour appeared with him from time to time. Those were shows after the idol show of the evening. Elliott, Ace, Bucky, maybe more (not sure who else).

I know he appeared with Snoop Dog and some others too but I think that was after the tour.

  • Yui

This makes me so happy, that Siobhan gets to have her dream come through. She really deserves it, and I can only imagine that more will be coming her way :)

  • cookcricket

Awwwww, I’m so happy for Siobhan!!

I started to really that Hanson had more cred than I used to think when David Cook mentioned them at some point. I can’t remember the time or publication, I just remember thinking, “Really, DC? Hanson?”

And because I can’t leave without drawing attention to my favorite band…Check out their “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” video off the new album. I LOVE everything about it especially “The Blues Brothers” homage. :)

Thank you! That was fun!! :D

I’m looking forward to more and (hopefully) better video with Siobhan.

  • MollyAnnMay

What a great evening this must have been for Siobhan. And really nice of Hanson to bring her up to perform. I confess I really only know MmmBop (because how can you not? Heh), which I do love, but now I’m curious to hear the album that came out this week. Thanks for the tip St.Lucia!

No sound expert, but one thing I’ve done (and it’s worked well for me) is to sit near the sound board

Yeah, I’ll totally second that. I don’t take videos at concerts (no skill and no ability to do two things at once) but I always try to sit near the sound board anyway. It’s one of the best spots in any venue, I think. You sacrifice being close to the stage, but I want to hear well more than I want to see well at concerts.

  • MollyAnnMay

Hanson had more cred than I used to think

Hanson has a lot of cred with the indie-type fans I know. I’m not sure how that happened (unless it’s their consistent DIY (for the music anyway) approach. Or maybe they just like the music, I dunno. Now that I think of it, I should ask.

  • sbalk017

okay i’m gonna listen to hanson all day now. (I love love love them in general. and everyone go get shout it out loud. it’s a really fun album :) )
… have any of the other videos shown up? I really want to hear her singing ‘Weird’!

  • St.Lucia

Hanson are an Indie band now. They own their own record company, 3CG records, after a gigantic fallout between them and their record company Island Def Jam. They videotaped the struggle in a documentary too, which can be viewed on youtube in its entirety.

I really, really love the band, because they are indie they have difficulty getting much radio airplay. I’ve loved them since I was a teen so I’m pretty well informed. :) Hanson has a diehard fanbase(some crazy…but what fanbase doesn’t?) but ones that definitely just get it. As Hanson fell out of the limelight for most casual fans they kinda became the best kept secret to the fanbase. We got what everyone else was missing.

I’ve seen them MANY times in concert(going again in August…wouldn’t miss it!) and every time it is an absolute impressive show. They are an absolute machine. They play a looong set and make sure every single person in that venue is having a great time.

Yes, yes, I know, I’m a bit on a soapbox, but I can’t help it! :) I’ve been a fan for such a long time and they are truly one of the most fantastic, amazing bands I’ve ever seen. I’ve lost most of my teenage music interests, but never Hanson. I always knew I saw something great in them. They have released 5 albums since I was a teenager of new music and each one seems to up the ante a bit. There are also live albums, a christmas album, and early recordings, but I recommend checking out the studio albums first.

Sorry for my soapbox moments…lol. I just always feel I have to let people on a secret I’ve been in on for over 13 years! :)

Thanks for the video link. Fun. Have you seen Taylor with Tinted Windows?

  • St.Lucia

Thanks for the video link. Fun. Have you seen Taylor with Tinted Windows?

Not live. I have the album that Taylor did with Tinted Windows though and I like that. It’s not a Hanson album, but I do enjoy. :)

  • poisnivy

well Siobhan is officially the luckiest girl in the world.. not only does she get to tour with Casey James but she got to perform with my favorite band of 13+ years.. I agree w/ the other Hanson fans here, if you haven’t listened to them since mmmbop, you are SO missing out! They are phenomenal, and there is nothing like a live Hanson show.. they play 2 hour sets and the whole thing is incredible. LOVE the new album!

  • maria4hitz

I’ve been a fanson for 13 years too!!! They are incredible, and they get even better with time. Siobhan is so lucky.

  • Yui

Thanks for putting up the vids.
She’s incredible. I’m still listening to them, but I floved Weird

LOL omg I love her valley girl impression at beginning of Been there before! LOL (Still listening)

  • sagi

I got to say I really love Siobhan’s voice. Listening to “weird” gave me chills. It’s weird because there are only a handful of female singers I really enjoy listening to. I would so buy her album if she puts one out!

  • St.Lucia

    LOVE the videos! Thanks!!!

The interview cracked me up. Even Hanson gets how to win American Idol. Can they please be mentors? Please? Judges? Anything? :)

ETA: Better yet, have them PERFORM…but since they are an indie band they won’t…

  • cookcricket

Hanson are an Indie band now. They own their own record company, 3CG records, after a gigantic fallout between them and their record company Island Def Jam.

St. Lucia, thanks for this information, that’s really cool. I was over on the headlines thread a little while ago and there was discussion about success, fame, etc. and for me it’s mostly about the music. In fact someone posted, Hanson who? (indicating they had fallen from fame-at least that’s how I took it) LOL. And that got me started thinking about this thread and their awesome vid. you posted and how it truly is about the music when someone goes from having some fame and then continues in the indie movement despite it. I was specifically thinking about Hanson at that moment and didn’t even know that they had gone indie. Thank you!

I’ll have to check out these Siobhan vids soon.

  • MollyAnnMay

St.Lucia thanks for the rundown on Where Are They Now, Hanson-style. That was really interesting. I didn’t know about the fallout with the label and because they were so popular early on and then seemed to fall off the radar, I thought they’d been dropped and then not picked up by anyone else. I had no idea they were going the indie route on principle. That’s a tough row to hoe, but good for them for sticking with it.

I’ve seen them MANY times in concert(going again in August…wouldn’t miss it!) and every time it is an absolute impressive show. They are an absolute machine. They play a looong set and make sure every single person in that venue is having a great time.

Yeah, that’s like my friend who adores them — she never misses a show. Now I’m tempted to go with her!

  • St.Lucia

    MollyannMay

Go go go to a show! I say this because even after all these years I have difficulty talking people into going to a Hanson show with me. I get a lot of “Eww, Hanson? The MMMbop people” comments, or general I don’t know who the hell they are. I’m used to it. :) I took a non-fan with me to the last show. She knew two songs…”MMMBop” and “Where’s the Love” and that’s about it. She had a BLAST. Is going with me again in August because she had such a good time. They’re fantastic, and they really make sure everyone has a good time. And usually a 20-24 song set list at any show I’ve attended…a good two hours of nonstop music. Unbelievable and fantastic. I’ve been to many concerts but other artists but Hanson still ranks as my top favorite show I’ve ever been too.

I didn’t know about the fallout with the label and because they were so popular early on and then seemed to fall off the radar, I thought they’d been dropped and then not picked up by anyone else. I had no idea they were going the indie route on principle. That’s a tough row to hoe, but good for them for sticking with it.

The last album people probably remember from Hanson on the radio or in general is “This Time Around” circa 2000. That’s the last time they were on a label. It took 4 years for the followup album “Underneath” to come out due to the massive struggle between them and Island Def Jam. That time frame is when a lot of the fanbase faded away because 4 years between albums is a long time. The struggle was a mess and basically Hanson just stopped trying to please people and make an album with hits to make money and instead make the album THEY wanted to make. It’s always been about the music with them. Always. So going Indie you take a lot of cuts…they don’t get airplay…ever. Not on any of the normal charting stations. Shame too considering the crap on the radio nowadays…but they know their fan base and really go above and beyond to give us things. Going Indie and forming their own label was the smartest decision they made because now they can do the music they’re proud of.

Ah, there I go again….excuse my verbal onslaught. If anyone is more curious about going Indie…their documentary “Strong Enough to Break” can be watched in all parts on youtube….

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arfx4i-050I

It’s a really good look at their struggle but also the way the music industry works and how much of it depends on making hits and making money. I found it utterly fascinating, at the time, how many people have to sacrifice their artistic integrity just to make a “hit”.

After seeing Siobhanson or whatever they called it…I’d totally love Siobhan to open for Hanson on this summer tour… :) It’d be delightful.

Okay, I’m done now…I so promise…(although I could so go on and on and on…)

  • maria4hitz

    Please go on St.Lucia! haha
I personally traveled to another country 3 times to see them in concert. I’ll never forget those shows, I loved every single minute. And I’d do it all over again If I had the chance.

  • cookcricket

Thanks St.Lucia, I bookmarked that link.

  • JudyOhio

I’ve learned here at MJ’s that checking out threads that are getting older and going down the page will often have updates! Since I’ve been on MJ’s since season 5, I’m surprised about this little discovery of mine, lol. I enjoyed seeing the rehearsal videos and VERY much enjoyed the interview. (None of which I would have seen had I not checked back!) The Hanson and Siohban harmony on “Weird” was excellent! Thanks for posting these extra vids MJ. Very much appreciated.

  • MollyAnnMay

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arfx4i-050I

Thanks for the extra info and I don’t mind the verbal onslaught — I completely understand. *g* I definitely want to check out the documentary, too. I think it’s easy to figure out now why Cook mentioned them — I imagine he was pretty immersed in the hows and whys of getting music out there without being distributed by a major back in the AH/Followup days.

I am definitely going to ask my friend to get me a ticket next time they come around. ;-)

  • tamalepie

Love to see the Hanson love on here! St.Lucia is right–they put on a fantastic show. I’ve seen them 7 or 8 times (once at Carnegie Hall) and they have never disappointed. Gonna see them in Sept. I’ve also taken several nonfan friends with me to shows, and they’ve all had a great time.

Not only are they fine musicians and songwriters, they have been heavily involved in raising money and awareness to combat pediatric AIDS in Africa, and have made several trips there. They have also been involved in the Tom’s shoes campaign, and did the “shoe drop” in Africa. They just have a lot of heart and integrity.

    Siobhan has great taste :)

  • sue

Finally watched the interview. Siobhanson FTW! lol… They sound great together. They could totally tour together. :)
Siobhanson would of been epic at the idol finale instead of the Bee Gees. OH well…I am so happy for Siobhan.
