The music video for Simon Cowell’s Haiti charity single, “Everybody Hurts” has been released. The single features: Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, Jon Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Alexandra Burke, Miley Cyrus, Susan Boyle, Mika, Rod Stewart and more.

All proceeds will go to fund relief for those devastated by the recent earthquake in Haiti. In the video, footage of the song’s vocalists recording the song is intercut with images of the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

“Everybody Hurts” is available at iTunes and Amazon UK, and will be available in shops across the pond today.

    That was a tearjerker.

It’s great that Simon is coordinating something to raise money for Haiti, but I found the images of singers intercut with images of the Haiti horror to be somewhat self-serving, and disturbing. That said, hopefully this single will raise lots of money for Haiti relief.

^Or Bon Jovi? The video was very sad, but what made me teary eyed was the end: all those faces smiling in the face of so much death and destruction.

I didn’t recognize most of those people, but they had nice voices. Boyle’s voice, imo, seemed out of place with the rest though.

The only part I find self-serving is “The Sun” newspaper getting it’s name mentioned in every bit of press about the single. The video is very sad and moving. I like that the singers sang it very tenderly as opposed to trying to outsing each other ala “USA for Africa”.

It’s nice to do things for Haiti, but I think this version stinks.

I suspect there wasn’t video of certain singers because their labels or management wouldn’t allow it. Such things happen.

The Backstreet Boys appeared on a song with Elton John called “Friends Never Say Goodbye.” It was from the animated film “Road to El Dorado” and Elton was frustrated the guys couldn’t even be identified because their management or label (I forget which) wouldn’t allow it.

Touching video – given the reason for its production, when someone is trying to create an avenue of exposure & relief to the people of Haiti, criticism seems to be out of place here.

Wow, yeah! We really do live in glass houses and somone needs to throw a rock at us!!
Thank you to every singer that gave their time and their voice, and also
to Simon Cowell who is known for doing some very good charity work.
I also think that this song, whether anyone loves the song or not, was
sung very tenderly by these singers.
    My throat still aches.
Hopefully the Universe is unfolding as it should and we are learning to
love our neighbours, and to share with those in terrible need, and hope that if our fates were reversed that others would come to our aide,
despite the criticisim of the “others”.!!!!!
