Simon Cowell Confirms Kevin McHale & Kelly Osbourne Out of Running For X Factor Hosts

In an interview with Celebuzz, Simon Cowell says flat out–NO, Neither Glee star Kevin McHale nor Kelly Osbourne will be X Factor hosts as rumored.

On The Ellen Degeneres Show, which airs today, Simon did confirm that Khloe Kardashian is definitely in the running.

Simon wants a boy-girl combo to host the live shows, and he has said on several occasions that he wants candidates who don’t have a background in traditional hosting, because he thinks it will be more “interesting.”

If things go the way he hopes, Simon will make an announcement this week.

    For some reason the Kardashians have a strange strangle hold on today’s pop culture.  So Simon is probably onto something.

    That pair might be interesting.

    I wonder what Simon meant by a brand new show, but I won’t hold my breath. Even assuming the improvements make the show watchable this year, there are just too many talent shows nowadays, and the target audience will probably spread out among the 3 main shows. That’s why I don’t expect XF to break records or even do much better than last year after the first episodes people will tune in to just to watch Britney.

    Ohhh, Kevin McHale! The whole time I thought it was Joel McHale up for XF host. Now, HE would be a great addition to the show.

    I hated cheesy, circus-like XFactor last year and had to tune out after 3 weeks or so. Have no intention of watching this year either. The thought of Joel as host, though, actually made me contemplate giving it a second chance. But, sorry –  a Kardashian will only make me run even faster in the other direction.

    I think Corbin was up for the gig last year before Scherzinger refused to work with him.

    I don’t know.  It’s run by some people who used to work for the Hollywood Reporter, and they are respected enough to get this interview with Simon Cowell.  It does seem like they copy a lot of things that The Hollywood Reporter posts, but they always seem to give them credit for the stories.

    Thanks goodness.  Those 2 would not be good.  Not that Khloe would be better.

    Middle America might be freaked out by Jim Cantiello’s constant energy.

    Needs to have someone with a good sense of humor that can banter with Cowell.

     Corbin was SUPPOSED to host last year with Nicole Scherzinger but Nicole basically through her divaesque ways decided she didn’t like Corbin and Steve was hired instead to co-host with her. Then she realized she should be upgraded to a judge and Cheryl Cole was fired

     I think Jim is perfect for the post X Factor show (US equivalent of Xtra Factor) because he has so much energy and personality. I think since its a co-hosting job, they need to have people who aren’t total polar opposites
