David Cook all the way...rocking...haunting...perfect pitch...beautiful tone...he just gives one hot performance after another. Simply the best.

Being a sucker for hot men, I rank Jason and Michael next. My girl (and I know I stand alone) this week was the barefooted Kristi Lee Cook, who brings her own seat for the execution and smokes her last ciggie only to last another week once again.

Prove them wrong, Kristi, just sing it and get your country contract. A beautiful voice, a snarky sweet attitude, she takes her lumps, expects the worst and lasts and lasts.

If I'm loving her in NYC, I'm hoping the South and the West are voting all night for her. Just throw in a vote for Mr. Cook, I hope he is the winner. He deserves it, IMHO.

Bees- I also loved Carly's performance (until the OTT note).

I feel that Syesha, KLC and Ramiele should be the next three that go, BUT when has the "offing" order ever been right on AI? Much as I love David Cook and really like Michael Johns, I am going to be really sad to see Carly, Brooke or Jason go before Syesha, KLC or Ramiele. Ugh! (I like David A too, but loathe his song choices.)

Great recap, MJ. It isn't helping me with my pool picks though.

I am probably in the minority here, but I loved Carly's version of "Here You Come Again" up until she threw in the OTT glory note at the end. I listened to just the audio portion of all the performnances at Rickey's and this one really benefits from not seeing the facial contortions. I think I remember reading a review where they called her voice "wine dark" and that seems to be an apt description. At first I was put off by her reek of desperation and need to be validated by Simon, but I am developing a soft spot for her especially in light of Simon's rude dig about her wardrobe and the Spanx admission from last week. The sad fact of the matter is that unless she finishes in the top 3, what record company is going to take a chance on another Carly CD?

I would hate to see Jason and Brooke out of the competition before Kristy, Rami or Syesha but I think that idol is not a competition which places any value on subtlety and nuance. I loved Jason's version of "Travlin' Thru" and really felt his connection to the material. I had him to win the whole thing in my office pool, but I don't see that happening anymore. I still love Brooke but agree with MJ that Jolene was not one of her better moments.

And what can you say about Cookie and his new improved hair---the guy has amazing pipes, makes great song choices and loves crossword puzzles. He is like Daughtrey with good taste in music.

Thanks for the recap, mj!

Simon appears to be off the Jason train, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not.

Yeah, that's really too bad. Now it's back to saving the intended fodder- a difficult position for fans to be in, but so rewarding...if you have Elliott-like results.

MJ, you write the best short sentences and recaps in the AI blogosphere.

Metaphor, Simon. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a literary device. Idiot.

Can I add my own P.S.?

Country, Simon. It's a musical genre. Snob.

Damn. I'm on a Mac and I did my windows cutting and pasting and it didn't work. Sigh.

Anyway, thanks for relaying my thoughts last night, Sarah. It's raining here in paradise, so I had a chance to rewatch the vids online (thanks MJ and Lawrence!).

I stand by my statement that "Little Sparrow" was braver than a rockish cover of "Billy Jean." For the first time, Cookie showed some vulnerability. I knew he had it in him. (Stay well, David.)

Jason is still my hands down fave. He was even better than I thought last night. He's not going to change for Simon. I love him for that. He won't win, but he'll make top 6, I'm guessing.

ETA: Great recap, MJ.

I'm still not digging Carly's version of "Here We Come Again." It's not an effing Celine Dion song. She has no idea who she is as an artist. Great voice, but I'm left cold.

Brooke has never had her heart smashed to pieces, has she?. That's great in the real world. In music, not so much. Great song for her voice, but not for her overall.

Michael... still my fave performance of the night by a wide margin.

David A... he sounded fine while I was doing dishes and not watching. I guess I'm still just not that into him.

CCJ FTW!

Sometimes, Simon says what he thinks, not always what America thinks. How can a Brit know the minds of Americans?

To quote Simon, "sorry"...but this makes no sense to me!!
Just because someone is another nationality, he/she cannot relate to the people of another country? Especially a country where that person has resided for the last 8 years? That's totally silly.
