David Cook is great and lookin’ much better! Didn’t like the dirty hair look. If listen to just the audio on Ricky site, I think Aussie guy Michael really doesn’t sound very good at all. Interesting to listen to just the audio sometimes. I think David H. sings realllly good, but something is lacking for me, not sure what it is.

I knew that people would come around to David Cook too. I’ve always liked him a lot, and thought he had a great voice, and was consistent. I was anxious for that breakout performance – and last night was definitely that!!

Ok, even though I’m hopelessly late to this party, I wanted to post my favorites/rankings. How in the HELL did David C. pull that miracle of an arrangement and performance of the cheesiest ballad ever and sell it to us? I was pissed at that song choice before I watched the show but as I watched, my mouth was kind of hanging open. It kind of reminded me of when Marty Casey did Britney’s Hit Me Baby on Rock Star. Wish I could find a video but I think it’s been pulled. Anyway…

1. David Cook (obviously)
2. Jason (loved, loved, loved it)
3. Michael
4. David H.
5. Danny
6. David A. (can you tell I’m not a fan?)
7. Chikezie
8. Luke (sorry 1/3 of the remaining eye candy needs to go)

Looking forward to tonight. Guess there are no spoilers yet?

Hapi, I agree … I thought it just sounded like Jason was wrapped up in the emotion of the song, which I find refreshing as opposed to the robotic professional perfect singers.

Hey…that was a bad note ending on Jason C.
That was part of the expression of the song..don’t ya know, like Joe Cocker’s You are So Beautiful and crack in voice, shaky note parts that expressed the feel of the song?

I really wish Idol would ditch the 6 guys, 6 girls for the top 12. They only started that after season 3. It’s quite apparent that the guys are more talented this season, and, unfortunately, a few of them will be sacrificed to keep the top 12 even. Such a shame!!

I needed to revise an earlier post.IMO nobody from Idol has been the future of American music. Some have become platinum selling artists but that’s it. No innovators that I’ve ever seen even though some have made misguided attempts to create new genres of music. Somehow I doubt Jason and his dreads will change that.

I think a decent album is the most anyone can expect from any of them and that’s a huge challenge.

Makes me sad that everyone is dumping on Micheal. I liked him last night. My favorites though were David H, David C and Jason with Micheal up next. Worst was Luke and Chikeze. I can’t get on David A’s bandwagon….I feel he is being coached by mom 24/7. The boys were very good and almost makes me not want to turn on the TV tonight for the girls.
