The Idolatry preview was pretty funny. I loved Archie as a newborn Ewok.

So it looks like Jason will be singing “I Don’t Wanna Cry” based on that spoiler. That song doesn’t suck as much as most of them – it should be good.

I’m worried about Jason this week. I hope his “spit” on this song works out. Simon is going to say it’s boring, I’m afraid.

I’m just a little worried that he’ll sing a song like “Hero” for his brother (even though it would have required a late song change). I won’t blame him if he does, but I think a great performance and the “AC” Les Paul would be enough of a tribute, especially if he doesn’t want to draw attention to Adam’s presence there.

Jason’s pick is a tough song. Requires at least a GOOD octave and a half range and some of those notes are rather tough, at least for a girl. He’ll pare it down to the bare bones. It’s actually a very very pretty song. He cannot belt, that I can already tell, so we’ll see how this sounds like as a Jack Johnson song.

ArchuD2 is so playing to his crowd. That’s a great pimp spot song. What can I say.

DC, I think, will be going ‘sappy’..since his brother did say on his myspace/facebook page that it was set to be a tearjerker. I have no clue what to make of that…”One Sweet Day?”, “Butterfly”? I know his fanbase is wanting him to belt out “My All”, but I’m not sure that’s a tearjerker. I would bet the house though, that AI will show his ill brother prominently. I swear that story is all over the news. And what’s this about dating Lacey Schwimmer? DC can’t even breathe without people spreading this sorts of stuff around. What’s up with the media?

As for Carly, she’ll have her moment. Good for her. In no way should Syesha or KLC outlast her. I know she’s been having a bad run, but she’s still better than those two plus even Brooke and Castro. We’ll see.

They better not give Archie the pimp spot AGAIN!! He’s had it twice already and KLC and Jason haven’t even had it once. One of them better have it tonight!!!

I thought I knew a lot of Mariah Carey songs, but I don’t know Carly’s or Jason’s…or maybe I do and just don’t recognize the titles. Should be interesting, nonetheless.

dulce, Jason has actually shown the same range that Carly and Archuleta have shown on the show. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just not as obvious or wow-ing because he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t belt.

But from a singer’s standpoint, he doesn’t hit those notes well. Not all of them. Carly can use her entire range well. So can Archuleta. It doesn’t count if you can sort of whisper the notes out. It’s going to depend entirely on how he arranges it.

That being said, does anyone know how reliable Wikipedia is? I know anyone and their mother can go on there and change stuff up…cause earlier it said that DC was singing “My All”…and now it says…”It’s Like That”…which sucks if it’s true. That song SUCKS.

I think Jason COULD spin that song. All of Mariah’s work, if sung as she arranges and produces it, is hard. The background music always requires big belting. But all songs are born at a piano or a guitar without the big bombastic horns, synths etc. IDWC is gorgeous. If Simon calls Jason boring, which he might cause he likes to do that as much as he likes to call DC pompous, he has to say it to Archuleta as well. When has that kid ever done anything remotely surprising this entire season?

I don’t think Jason will get the boring comments for IDWC. This song IS different for him, as he hasn’t done a whole lot of first-person “I love you baby” kind of stuff. I didn’t think he was great on “If I Fell” but I think his voice is steadily improving. If he gets “boring” or “busking” it will only be because Simon forgot to say those things last week and needs to go back to his script.

Me too. I think this would be a good week for Archie to go first. He’s the only one who could not possibly suffer any ill effects from it. They could have had him sing at 3 a.m. and not televised it and he would still be fine.

With DC kind of tanking last week, having him go in the death spot tonight would reek of TPTB throwing him under the bus. I’m not ready for that to happen yet. I can’t imagine they would want to risk losing MJ and Cookie back-to-back, but who knows?

I only listened to the first 1:30 seconds of IDWC because, after all that’s all they can sing anyway, heh, I think Jason can do okay with it. He does need to build a little in the song but he did that with Hallelujah – I think his phrasing is key.

Gosh, Mariah’s songs are pretty awful. But she can sing — those are some tough songs. Very odd melodies — could be tough for any of them to sing in tune. “I Don’t Wanna Cry” is particularly strange — there is no real melody there.

I hope Cafffeind is at the rehearsals and will spoil performance order and the rest of the songs for us.

I’m ready to do my part to keep Jason out of the bottom 3!

I really loathe Archie’s song. If he sings it, I’m off the love train. I just can’t take his taste in music. Too bad, the voice is there. Jason’s song is crappy as well. Plus Carly will do some overblown emoting with that song. The song choices this season are horrible. Mariah’s songs aren’t so bad. Vision of Love/Fantasy/Dream Lover are good songs. These people make suckastic choices.

I promise to vote for the person who does an upbeat song tonight.

True. And I liked Fragile, it was good! Plus I thought it was cool that he did something that was kind of a nod to his Columbian culture by singing in Spanish.

I Liked “Fragile” too. It has a vibe of a very talented musician giving a spontaneous concert. I think that is an awesome vibe and it is why I love Jason. He always seems so natural.

She even commented on how well his voice has improved. He CAN sing and sing well. Although, I will admit that high notes aren’t his specialty. With that said, “I don’t wanna Cry” is a very good fit. It’s more of a mezzo range which is perfect for Jason.

I’ve always said that any good singer could benefit from a vocal coach. He had only sung in public a handful of times before. With some additional training, I think he’ll sound even better. And, considering the fact that he’s pretty much an amateur when it comes to singing, I think he’s commendable. This…from a major DC fan!!!

I am not a Mariah fan and I’m fearing this is going to be one of the worst weeks of the season.

The three divas of last season could have soared on Mariah’s music. Anybody with an urban feel could also do some of her songs. Sadly, this season’s crew is a horrible mismatch with only Syesha really in her zone. And Syesha will bring nothing new to any Mariah song she attempts.

I am a David A. fan and I think he should have to go first tonight. It is only fair. I don’t like how the producers try to manipulate everything through the singing order. And as a David A. fan, I really wish that he would sing something besides a message song. I don’t care so much about the slow songs (I like them and he does well), but how about a ballad about love, girls, etc. – something that doesn’t mention God, miracles, heaven, etc. I think “I’ll Be There” would have been his best choice.

Why do people think that Jason is going somewhere? I think he, DC and CS probably have an equal chance at losing to Archie in the finale at this point. DC was almost completely written off by a lot of critics after last week. I think Jason is on a major upswing. I think he can make it to the finale without a single glory note and without ever having to work the stage. Jason just…is.

I think that would come across as awkward and cheesy. Jason is a rock drummer. He’s used to backing a hard rock band, not singing along to love song or something while playing. He should stick to what he’s doing for the most part. He’s good at it. I just wish he would pick a more up-beat song ala Crazy.

Relax! I’m not attacking him – he’s my fave out of 7 seasons of this cheesy show. I just saw a lot of REALLY bad reviews from last week and sensed some doubts creeping in that maybe he didn’t have a clear path to the finale anymore. I didn’t realize Slezak had kept him at #1. That’s good news. He still has to compete against angels and rainbows and it’s not going to be an easy road (especially since the girls refuse to leave)

Ahh, I am older than that! I love him like a son. Jason to me is just sunshine and light. I don’t think I have ever seen Simon smiling so much as he did at the end of Jasons Somewhere song. He is just so different, I love his voice!!!

I still think DCook is a lock for the finals, and he’s my pick (though not in the pool, unfortunately) FOR THE WIN!

I think boring will be a better word for what Mariah’s music will be getting tonight. Kristy do something interesting tonight and I’ll vote for you. I’ve given up on everybody else.

I didn’t read it last week. She DID like Travellin’ Thru. I also believe she has said positive things, in general, about Haleluljah (or she referenced how well he did in other reviews). So it is a fair statement to say that she thinks he has really improved. I know for a fact in Travellin’ Thru she made note that his mouth placement and vocals were improving greatly.

When Jason sang “Crazy” he really slowed it down. I agree the song is upbeat but that does not mean Jason will chose to sing it that way.

Ugh, ugh ugh…i just knew DA would find the one Message Ballad in the catalog. And here I was gonna vote for him if he did Touch My Body.

I kind of like Jason’s choice…can totally see that stripped down and not having to be belted.

The Masterclass Lady is a fun review, but, most people don’t listen or buy their music based on how someone held their mouth when singing. They like what sounds good to their ears, regardless of how technically perfect it is or isn’t.

Oh how I’m dreading tonight. I’m NOT a fan of Mariah Carey’s earsplitting vocals so therefore I know VERY few of her songs, and I have never, ever had the desire.

I hope this is a slightly pleasant surprise like Dolly Night where I knew none of her songs either and it didn’t turn out too bad.

But I’m not feeling hopeful.

On the spoilers listed, I know not a one of those songs and I’m not curious enough to go find out what they sound like either, because that would involve having to listen to Mariah, and since I already have to look at her tonight, I find that to be enough torture.

I just hope Jason’s choice is a WOW(but I’ll vote until my fingers bleed no matter what it is)). Also throw me in the boat with the others who loved, loved the studio version of Fragile.

I hope Cookie thinks of something genius, kind of like Dolly night, where he makes his own arrangement out of a screeching Mariah song.

I think a lot of people are sick of KLC because she comes off as a huge brat, plus Carrie Underwood already won the show. And Syesha just seems kind of fake, so people don’t have a real personality to cling to.

I saw Ana Gastayer in a musical in Chicago and she had this annoying habit of bouncing her head with in order to keep the rhythm of the song after watching that for an hour and half you learn to appreciate someone who only scrunches their face during the high notes.

Phew, DC and Jason both picked songs that don’t make me want to puke. Yay. I probably would have switched their song choices. I can imagine how Jason will sound, but DC could do an acoustic/folk type thing, rock it up, or possibly even turn turn it into a stalker anthem (there’s some lyrics that have a creepy, “you’ll never get rid of me” vibe.) As long as he doesn’t wear a weird jacket and write on his hand, I think it will be well received.

Placement won’t both David A, as a matter of fact it’s better that he doesn’t get good placement for the next couple of weeks. In the long run that will help not hurt him. He hasn’t had the pimp spot in about a month and that hasn’t hurt him either.

Syesha has never had a really bad night, just not a truly stellar night some might say. She is consistant. I like her voice and she does a great job in the silly choices she makes. At least they are not pandering, cynical choices like KLC. I have never heard of this song, which probably will be bad for her as Simon criticises everything that is unfamiliar to him. It’s not like he’s given her break even when she’s good.

Archie singing If You Believe even gets to me a bit, but if he sings it well, I will still buy it, and vote for him. It’s a song that I am sure he can relate to, and right now he’s preaching to the choir. That’s all he needs to do at this point.

I know I should not be vote spliting as it guess it will do in someone else that I like, but considering I like everyone (in varying degrees) but KLC, what can I do?

Yeah, I agree. I didn’t like her at first because of all the crazy things she was trying, but she’s really picked up and shown that she really, really wants to stick around — and frankly, it’s working. Syesha seems to be more in danger at this point. MJ’s right that Syesha now has a voting block to herself, but the country fanbase is most likely much, much bigger than however big Syesha’s is.

Hi, everyone! Just back to my computer after rehearsal.

Gotta say that Kristy was probably my favorite vocal of the night after Little David.

The girls who let me in with them thought Kristy was the best performance of the night. They thought Jason was the weakest. I agree. Syesha was OK vocally but I don’t think most people will know the song. And Brooke’s lack of vocal range really stood out on Mariah night.

And Carly looked very pretty tonight.

I told MJ that I think Nigel put DA in the death spot to prove it’s not the death spot. No risk of that guy going home, so it doesn’t prove anything. Like MJ said, he could not show up and still be in the Top 3.

LOL. I actually called David A going first earlier today and Jason going last a few days ago.

It makes kind of warped sense. David A had to go first sooner or later. Tonight he has a song that’s in his wheelhouse so going first won’t hurt him. He gets going first out of the way so he can legitimately not be first for a while (or perhaps ever again) and people will have to stop using this evidence that he is favoured. They’ll have to start griping about the other two who have never gone first…Jason and David C.

Jason going last makes sense this week. He’ll have trouble gaining value from it (this theme is not in his wheelhouse) and it may harm him. People may say that he only survived this week because he had the pimp spot. It’s like Nigel is using the damn pimp spot to turn some people into villians this year. Then, next week, Nigel will have Jason go first because “that’s fair”. He went last this week and he’s never been first before. ALW is unlikely to be in Jason’s wheelhouse either. A few passes over with the bus, and out he goes.
