Season 4 Idol Anthony Federov Signs Record Deal

Congrats to Anthony Federov. The Season 4 Idol has a record deal. Fred Bronson of Idols Now tweeted the exclusive last night:

BREAKING NEWS: ANTHONY FEDOROV has signed with Airgo Music, a NY-based indie label. He’s in the studio now recording his 1st single. Anthony tells IdolsNow: “It’s been six years in the making and I’m very excited about this project. I’ve been writing songs and I can’t wait for everyone to hear my new music.” The Season 4 finalist promises more details about his recording plans in the next few days.

Anthony, whose family emigrated to the US from the Ukraine finished in 4th place behind Vonzell Solomon, Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood. Most recently, he has been performing in theater productions, as the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

    Good for Anthony. It really is amazing how many former Idol contestants have been able to remain in show business. They may not be getting rich but I imagine they are happy to be doing what they love to do.

    My personal opinion is this — Anthony should not try to be another pop star in the mould of those being played in our Top 40 stations…

    There are just too many of them already and the field is overcrowded.

    He needs to find a niche. He really has the pipes to be another Josh Groban if you ask me.

    The Josh Groban type of music will fit him perfectly.

    I remember, fresh off Idol he was interested in doing Latin music which I thought was an odd fit. On MySpace, he had a song called “Remember” which I’ve enjoyed in the intervening years. Even off a small label, I’m glad there will finally be fresh recordings from him.

    Anthony has done quite well in the touring company of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I didn’t get to see him in it, but a friend who did said Anthony did a fantastic job.

    I admit to being one of those who used speed dial for Anthony during his Idol run Season#4. I wish him much success and hope that I’ll be able to buy any music made available. He has been working hard for this and deserves a break!

    The Josh Groban type of music will fit him perfectly.

    Anthony has one of the most beautiful voices to come out of Idol. Even today, he is invited to sing the National Anthem. It is good that he is finally going to release his album. I plan on buying it when released. I wish Anthony the very best, he certainly does deserve a break!
