Scotty McCreery’s new music video for his single, “Water Tower Town” is a sweet love letter to his fans and his hometown, Garner, North Carolina which is a real “Water Tower Town.”

Shots of Scotty performing and greeting fans, mixed in with every day scenes from his small town create a nice mixture of nostalgia and Americana.

Watch it below.

BONUS VIDEO: Scotty joins Brad Paisley on his hit “Celebrity” on the Grand Ole Opry. It’s from GAC’s Noteworthy at the Opry series. Scotty has been the opening act for Brad’s current tour.

I completely understand where folks are coming from (fans or not) who may not like the video as much since so many were not thrilled about the song being a single (and of course I was one of them ;).  Having said all that, the song does represent who Scotty is as an individual but it seems more like a home video than a music video but it is cute.

Thanks for posting the bonus vid too mj.  :)

I like Scotty but I can’t relate. This is like a Norman Rockwell painting. Home songs generally do well. Its nice to see someone living the dream.

The only time wheels turn slow for my city is when I am stuck in traffic as everyone heads back to the suburbs. Otherwise, its 80 MPH on a 4 lane highway.
Dude just cut me off on the way home.

I think it’s adorable, and I think Scotty should be some sort of youth ambassador and serve as a role model for today’s young people. His mother and father should give parenting lessons on how to raise a child right- I think the entire McCreery family is quite impressive.

ITA. I have always been enormously impressed with the McCreery parents and with Scotty as representing the best of what American youth can be.

I actually flove this video. It’s much better in showing Scotty as a charming, cool dude than the first two IMHO. I like that it’s showing his journey. I connect with him here – as opposed to his highly glossy, rather idealistic vids before.

I know that in previous posts, I might have come off as anti-Scotty. Not so. Just trying to be realistic about what are going to be his challenges in country music going forward. IMHO. IMHO. IMHO. lol. But i like this kid and I honestly wish him success and happiness in everything he does. He seems so grounded, I don’t doubt that whatever happens in the future, he’ll be just fine.

Agree.  The vid is about equal to anything else you see on CMT.  Keith Urban has a video fairly similar, with shots from concerts so people that were at the concert or want to go, etc.. will get a sneak peek.

I think this is the first time that I like your post about Scotty.

No1curr about your town anymore, Scotty. It was kyoot when you were on Idol, but now we want to see you grow into a country superstar, not go back to being a normal boy.

Oh, and I could’ve edited this on iMovie in like 2 hours.

    His videos are so meh.

Caro, that makes me feel a bit better.  I was actually getting more positively predisposed toward Casey J when I saw him talk about Ricky Scaggs (whose music I absolutely love) as a big influence, but then I was too grumpy about other things…will try to put that aside now:)

And as far as this being about his youth again, I think it’s actually a transition video…I would bet money that the next video he does is more mature (but not too much:)).  One doesn’t grow up overnight…

well i really like the video it works for this song

  • mchcat

I would say this is already happening(a maturity) in his live performances.  The last two or three TTWG are a great change from when he started singing this. Makes this old Grandmom for Scotty’s heart go boom boom (sorry to quote Luke B but it seems appropriate)

    MJ,

The video of Brad and Scotty has been taken down. How else can we see this?

  • Anonymous

Well maybe he should do something totally out of character so that his fans would not recognize and appreciate it.  It is a charming and real video about his roots and his direction in life.  It is Scotty to a T.  There is nothing wrong with recognizing your roots but the video is much more than that.

Wow Scotty really has become a consummate performer. He’s the man.

It’s important to him.  I think it makes sense to do songs that’s important to you.  And for his first album songs about his hometown is perfectly fine because he is remembering where he came from.  This is important.

     haha..peace & quiet makes a beautiful sound..zzzzzzz!  Only Scotty.  :D

Well, sorry Scotty but I have to agree. Typically he has a good sense for his selections, but it was time for YMTLG; not WTT. I get that he likes his hometown but we need a break in here. Love Scotty, but think he needs to incorporate fan feedback into music selections. Everyone on AI loved T.Tritt’s Can I Trust You With My Heart….so why start covering T-R-O-U-B-L-E…doesn’t suit his voice.
