Congrats to Scotty. Hope he wins against Brantley & Hunter, 2 well-liked artists by the industry. Let’s be optimistic & vote & hope all his accomplishments convince the industry to give him the award.

Yeah Scotty! Just the fact that he is nominated is awesome!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AGWO435FL6UN2ICRVTFLWRJZSA Lexie

Yay!!!!  It truly is an honor for him to be nominated–so excited for him!!  And I’ll be voting…

congrats! to Scotty Mccreery .. nomination well deserved and good luck to all the nominees.

Congratulations to Scotty!!! I know his fans won’t stop voting til the last second….It’s going to be a tight race…I say the Industry will have the last word!

  • Anonymous

Wow Scotty – congrats!  It’s just one bit of good news after another for him!

  • Anonymous

I think it will be close. I’m just hoping that the industry voters won’t be close-minded because some of these industry people already dislike him. That’s why I’m hoping some of the industry realizes all he’s achieved so far is amazing for a new artist especially since he’s a male teenager which is rare in country.

When I was voting for Scotty’s nomination for the ACM new artist,  I told myself I will be just as happy & content when and if he gets the nomination coz that alone is an accomplishment in itself.
He need not win on the premise that he “might” be too new and “maybe” less deserving over the veterans who ,as the industry claim, has paid their dues.

BUT, now that he is officially nominated, I really really want him to win!!!!
Again, on the premise of ALL he has accomplished in such a short time ( a fan can always dream….and vote!)

  • Chrissie H

YEAH-  Now I understand his yesterday tweet about a “great day”–Yesterday news about gold single and today about nomination. What a thrill! Just keep the Scotty succes coming! I´m so happy for him. And lucky that votes are not limited to US- so, yes,´ll be voting for him and keep my fingers crossed.

Congratulations Scotty!! The one I want most to see on that Las Vegas stage as winner GAC “ACM/New Artist of the Year” is Scotty Mccreery. Sorry to say the other two are not well known to me. Scotty has  that “IT” factor which has been noted by many and from all accounts  his increasing number of fans, go out of their way to see him perform live. His videos  of just two songs ILYTB and TTWG have been watched by millions. He’s the rising star in my books!!

  • windmills

    Congrats Scotty & his fans!

I know it’s not in the nature of big fans to relax but FWIW, he’s got this. The industry knows he’s going to run away with the fan vote and won’t get in the way. Neither of the other 2 nominees have that much critical acclaim to back them up even if Hunter Hayes has more cred (he still has the issue of his voice which reminds people of Gary Levox, which won’t help him). That’s not going to be strong enough to overcome the sheer numbers as far as sales and popularity Scott has, not even in the eyes of industry voters. If they didn’t want him to win, they would’ve block voted against him to prevent him from being in the semifinals and finals. It didn’t happen. He’s going to win. So, vote away (they want and expect you to) but it’s not something worth stressing yourself out over IMO.

  • Tess

Since the ACM membership is about 3800 strong and their ranks come from all parts of the country recording industry and since they have seen fit to accept Carrie and Miranda and bestowed them with honors I don’t think there is a lot of close-mindedness with Scotty.  He has worked hard these last 8 months and isn’t resting on his Idol laurels.  Other than one article at the beginning (whose sentiment hasn’t held up since he has broken top 20 with 2 singles) we haven’t heard much of anything about the “industry” not thinking he has the goods…or did I miss something?

  • Anonymous

Thanks Windmills for all the positive vibes.

Question: Can award shows really block vote someone they don’t want nominated? Has this been a recent thing or has been done for a long time?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_I3NQHPT3NA6VGKK22RCMTGOCII Tiffany

I don’t agree with windmills that its all locked up.  Stranger things have happened like Carrie not even getting a nom at cmt the year she got married and had that sell out tour, etc.  I think we need to vote our fingers to the bone if you want him to win lol.  I guess Hunter has more fans then I thought since his sales aren’t that great or his label is putting the big push on.  All these awards are so political and so much back scene antics are involved.  I imagine Scotty’s label was back there doing some antics as well.  Good luck Scotty.

  • Anonymous

Congrats to Scotty! Given the history of ex-Idols in fan-voted awards, I have to figure he will be a solid favorite to win this. :)  Any one of the three would be a very deserving winner from the little I know about them and their music. It’s always nice to see a bunch of strong nominees for awards

  • windmills

Tiffany: I don’t agree with windmills that its all locked up.  Stranger things have happened like Carrie not even getting a nom at cmt the year she got married and had that sell out tour, etc.

Yes but that was because her label wanted to finally get her labelmate and friend Brad Paisley the Entertainer Of The Year award that he’d been missing and was probably not going to be in the position to win in later years (in their minds, Carrie still had time to get that win and she’d already won ACM Entertainer twice). That was a within label thing. There’s nothing like that going on here. Universal Nashville will be all in for Scotty, and the numbers are overwhelmingly in his favor.

ptebwwong: Question: Can award shows really block vote someone they don’t want nominated? Has this been a recent thing or has been done for a long time?

They can try. Jimmy Carter seemed to think it was a combination of that and Sony Nashville thinking an Entertainer nom would help Miranda’s career more than Carrie’s that explained Carrie not being nominated for ACM Entertainer Of The Year last year though it was obvious to most that she deserved not just a nom but the win. At least in that case, Carrie’d won the award already (2 years running).

Windmills, I hope you’re right, but I’m still going to vote as much as the rules allow me to and hope that all Scotty’s fan do the same! Being nominated is an extreme honor, and I’m thrilled for him, but I feel he really deserves this win!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

I’ll be voting as well.  Big congrats to Scotty.  I hope he wins but what a thrill for him just to get the nod.  “Fingers crossed”!

  • Chrissie H

Since I started following Scotty and this blog I have read several times ppl mention  ” the industry” and that some of the industry people dislike Scotty….  I think I understand most of the language, but who exactly is “the industry” (special music branches or radio or ….????) and why would they not like Scotty? Did they say or …? I would be very happy and grateful if anybody would help me understand -

  • Anonymous

Way to go SCOTTY!  I’m so happy he got into the final 3 and, to be honest, was afraid he wouldn’t.  Breathing sigh of relief.  Hope he wins this award!!!!
~~I will be voting and will be watching the award show~~    :D

Congrats to three deserving nominee’s best of luck to Scotty I assume along with Windmills he is a lock.  The country music industry have in general been very supportive to both Scotty and Laurenn this year I do not see anyone wanting to block him.

  • Anonymous

    YES!!!!!!

Of course I hope he wins, but the fact that he’s in the top3 is already a big deal.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AGWO435FL6UN2ICRVTFLWRJZSA Lexie

Ooh, what could it be?  That boy is turning into a downright tease…:)  I’m guessing he could be recording a boot song for Idol, hmmm…what else could it be?

As far as who the “industry” is, I’m not an expert (you’ve no doubt seen my many, many questions), but it includes djs, program directors, industry executives, and more…

The “not liking” came from an article last year by Phyllis Starkey, as well as djs stating right on air (like one of my locals) that he just won a game show and gets what others have worked so hard for all their lives in that recording contract…

Then they said, if he works hard like Carrie, they’ll give him a chance…

  • Anonymous

I think Scotty’s recording the Idol boot song. He’s definitely not starting to record a 2nd album. Even if he’s doing a Christmas album, he shouldn’t be recording this early.

The only other option I could think of is Scotty recording the songs that did not get chosen for his album & releasing these as bonus tracks for a deluxe album edition.

  • Anonymous

Scotty may be recording for the GACTV special about the three finalists for BNA. I think one of the press releases said there would be a program about the finalists with “exclusive performances.

  • Anonymous

Maybe he’s making a DVD of the lancaster show.  It was such a good show, and those videos are so popular.  Maybe he’s doing like an intro for it….

  • Anonymous

I kind of think the writing is on the wall already if you compare the Hunter Hayes blurb to Scotty’s…I’m really sad to say I think the country guru’s will choose Hunter.  Somebody please tell me I’m wrong!!!  I seem to be in a bit of a downer here!

  • Anonymous

Me too…but is that Spring Break time?  Could miss a lot of votes if his younger fans aren’t around.

  • Anonymous

Just almost the whole Cumulus group refusing to add him or play his songs.  That’s a large group.

  • Anonymous

Would love to believe this Windmills…you’re usually spot on but that niggily little thing at the back of my mind just won’t go away.  May have to find myself some legal happy pills!! lol

  • Anonymous

aw congrats Scotty!!! this is a well deserved nom and I wish and also feel he’s going to win :))

  • Anonymous

Cumulus stations will probably not add him. Cumulus does this for other country artists, too. Here’s something I found posted from
    dusty_125125 on IDF about Cumulus:

Tim McGraw 112 adds……. out of 140 stations 21 of the non added stations are Cumulus
Rascal flatts 126 adds …..out of 140 stations 8 of the non added stations are Cumulus
Miranda Lambert 116 adds..out of 140 stations 15 of the non added stations are Cumulus
Lee Brice …109 adds… out of 140 stations 22 of the non added stations are Cumulus
Kip Moore…106 adds…out of 140 stations 20 of the non added stations are Cumulus
Brantley Gilbert 96 adds…out of 140 stations 22 of the non added stations are Cumulus

So as you can see Cumulus are slow to even add the big artists. So I wouldn’t worry.

Haven’t been around that long I guess…what is a “boot” song with respect to Idol?

  • Anonymous

Where there’s a young fan…..there’s a laptop!!! Scotty fans will find a way to vote whether at home or away on vacation!!!

  • Anonymous

It’s the song always played when someone gets eliminated. It’s played during the montage they show. Previous Idol alums that have done the “boot” song are Carrie, Cook, Ruben, & Daughtry. The 1st boot song was “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter (not an Idol alum). Also, Will Young (the original Pop Idol winner) did a boot song.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Congrats to Scotty and his fans!  :)

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

I don’t know. Scotty’s blurb sounds pretty good to me. :)

  • Anonymous

I read somewhere that Carrie underwood’s boot song was I’ll Stand By You. Is that correct?..I remember her singing that alot…and she sang it on Idol Gives Back too..

  • revcat

    nvm

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

No. She rerecorded Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home” as the send off song that year.  I’ll Stand By You” was for IGB.

  • Anonymous

LoL – never thought of the laptop thing….you are so right!

  • Anonymous

Ah – thanks a lot.  I never even connected the boot with the eliminations (may have to look for some legal smart pills as well as the happy ones)!

  • mchcat

From what I understand we can vote right up to April 1 – I guess that means the 3 won’t know until the last minute – pins and needles for sure

  • Anonymous

The 3 definitely won’t know ahead of the show. Industry voters also make up a percentage of the vote.

  • Anonymous

Scotty just confirmed in a radio interview that he recorded the Idol “goodbye” song today.

Congratulation to Scotty for being nominated. I’ll be voting for you. Good luck Scotty!

  • http://twitter.com/Scottyasia Scottyasia

Well, I’m selfish one. I don’t wish the other two best of luck. Never!
I only want to see my SCOTTY is going to win. I don’t care for the others, its so obviously that no one deserves this award more than SCOTTY. The NewArtistOfTheYear already belongs to SCOTTY with no doubt.

If in case the industry people have something wrong with their fingers then put out the wrong final result. OK, well, SCOTTY still is 1000% the owner of that NewArtistOfTheYear award.

Scottified fans are so ready to attack that site from March 19th.

    Let’s the battle begins!

  • Anonymous

Windmills, I love your certainty! I personally would not be the least bit skeptical if only the ACM committee publicized the weighting of the Industry vote versus the fan vote in determining the winner. Hopefully, the fan votes hold the higher weight percentage.  Aside from Scotty’s accomplishments in 2011, I hope the Industry voters will consider what a wonderful role-model Scotty has shown himself to be for younger country music fans and the humility and respect he demonstrates for the country musicians and artists who have paved the way for him. IMO, Scotty has exceeded the criteria for Best New Artist and I hope and pray that you are right and that his name is annouced as the winner on April 1st!

  • Anonymous

Jimmy Carter was on WQYK today giving his Nashville Report. He said he wouldn’t be surprised if Hunter Hayes took the award because he was getting a big industry “push”. Scotty’s fans had better vote so much that the industry vote can’t topple him in favor of Hunter.

  • http://twitter.com/ScottyHaleyFan Maria Romeo

Scotty’s Fan Base is STRONG and is still growing!  HE has a very good chance of winning this thing.
