Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina Google+ Q&A

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina could not have been more charming when they sat down with Google+ for a Q&A.

Just a few tidbits from the 35 minute  interview:

Scotty is sure Simon Cowell would have hated him (he’s probably right about that). They loved the judges.  Steven Tyler treated them like they were his own children.

Both Google themselves and study You Tube videos to improve their performances.  They both love social networking.   Scotty and Lauren are working hard on their debut albums.  Lauren is a little nervous about her songs–she hopes people like them. Lauren has texted Carrie Underwood a few times.  Scotty texted her in front of his “boys” who were duly impressed.

Watch the interview below. So adorable.

I watched this video a couple of hours ago.

And you are right MJ, they are charming and adorable.

Scotty is being very natural but on the hand, quite mature and professional in his interview. He surely can be cheeky at times.

I think he is getting better and better at handling interview.

  • McCreerian

LOL there were quite a few funny moments in that video-Scotty shaking his head when Lauren was talking about how she injured herself, Scotty talking about how he hates Hollywood week(who doesn’t? Lol), the lady trying to take Lauren’s smoothie and Lauren almost glaring at her and taking it back, Scotty rubbing the microphone against his face, Lauren having cousins she didn’t know about in her town, Scotty and “you mean everybody wasn’t in it to win it this year?”, Lauren and Simon liking blondes(very true!) Lol.

  • SajiNoKami

Lauren is quite charming, adorable and I always like her in interviews.

Scotty is charming, cheeky, and adorable with those quirky mannerisms of his.

just found out today I’m not done with English yet..

soo, Scotty did you fail that AP english exam you took the day after the finale then..

for some reason I really want to see a team up of Haley, Scotty, and James in an interview.

It will be interesting to see what happens to them a few years from now. Will they be able to survive the transition from teen Idols to legit adult performers, when they may no longer be that adorable. Look at what happened to David Archuleta. He was riding high after Idol and after his first album came out. Then 2 years later, he struggled with his 2nd album and no longer has a record contract.

  • LexieN

I have so enjoyed how they play off each other in interviews…agree that they’re both adorable! And, of course, the fan sites buzz as to why he just didn’t put her in the friends circle:)

As far as what will happen, one can only hope that their teams steer them in the right direction…keeping music out constantly, touring, touring, touring, and putting up with a less than ideal contract rather than having none? That’s just what I’ve seemed to glean from this site and others;)

  • jammasta

Yeah, Simon Cowell would’ve hated Scotty and James and turned this past season from a “lovey-dovey but no criticism” Idol to another year of “Simon, the cruel egocentric jerk, needs to leave”.

  • Pam

These two are just too cute! Loved the Q & A. Thanks mj.

  • TwigLA

These two kids get more endearing each time I see them in interviews. THis one in particular, was fresh and not the typical questions and answers.

I thought it was interesting, and nice, that when Haley was upset she went to Lauren’s Mom for comfort. I also thought it was funny that Scotty didn’t seem too thrilled about having a babysitter on tour and on the show. I’ll bet his boys tease him about that.

I can see these two easily making the transition from TV teen, to successful adult performer. They come off as very normal and grounded. Most of the teens from this show seem to be doing well for themselves. You don’t always have to be #1 with a bullet to be considered successful.

  • lili_anne7

These two are adorable, you really can’t hate them. Lauren seems to be worried about people liking her album. I hope her label finds good songs for her to record, I would hate for her to get stuck with KLC type songs.

  • auntmable

This was the best interview ever, I smiled all the way through it. These kids are great and I am excited to know that I get to follow their career! I can not wait for Scottys’ cd to come out in the fall, it’s going to be really big,Scottys going to be the next big country superstar, he is such a good influence on our young kids. I pray this new life of his is not more than he can handle, I wish him well!!! Oh! and thank you for putting this interview on for us all to see, it is really great!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Lauren’s single, “Like My Mother Does,” was previously recorded by Kristy Lee Cook? At least that is what I have heard?

Not that I’m denigrating the song — I think it’s good, and Lauren sounds great on it. But it is a KLC song, and not a bad one at that.

I’m not really familiar with KLC or her songs, but I agree that it crucial for Lauren to get good songs that also are appropriate for her youth.

  • TwigLA

I don’t normally like pairing Idols up. But does anyone else think these two could have a musical/comedy type variety show?

It was. LMMD is fine, I wasn’t crazy about it when I first heard it, but Lauren does a good job with it. I just hope her album has stronger songs then that.

Okay. I agree with you about LMMD. Wasn’t crazy about it at first, but it’s grown on me. And Lauren sings the heck out of it. I do think it might be difficult to find appropriate songs for her. But I know she’ll sing the heart out of whatever she gets. And frankly, country radio could use a voice like Lauren’s. There aren’t that many good female country singers on the radio right now.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Lauren’s when she was on AI. But I was at the Portland show (where she injured her ankle), and she was so sweet. Also a good performer as well as singer. And her voice sounds so good recorded, but she can sing live too!

  • rivermaya

    That was a fun interview.
Scotty’s witty as ever and I just adore Lauren’s perkiness.

LOL on Scotty’s comment about Simon Cowell.
On a past x-factor interview, Simon briefly mentioned that the young kid with the deep voice country singer is the only idol contestant he remembers.

  • LexieN

About the musical comedy show–I totally agree! And/or Scotty and Casey…they have been hilarious together. I am addicted to these interviews…

  • McCreerian

I’m glad Simon wasnt on this season-he probably would have fought against putting Scotty through and would have pimped Paul or Tim instead. Yikes.

  • Pam

    That’s a lot coming from Simon. I don’t think it’s a secret he’s getting a little senile. ;)

I would love to see these two do a comedy show. Yep, Scotty and Casey are a riot too.

  • allstar

Just think…if the show hadn’t sabotaged Haley with the Alanis song in the Top 3, or if they had even saved the personal choice round for last (which obviously makes the most sense), then we wouldn’t have to be bombarded by McLaina.

  • SajiNoKami

jammasta says: Yeah, Simon Cowell would’ve hated Scotty and James and turned this past season from a “lovey-dovey but no criticism” Idol to another year of “Simon, the cruel egocentric jerk, needs to leave”.

Yep. They would have been toast.. especially top 5 week.. well actually a lot of weeks.

  • abbysee

I think you’re onto something! I think they are just adorable and I must admit I laughed alot watching them, they both have great personalities. They seem to get a kick out of each other too. Not shipping them or anything, but they have a certain chemistry. Cute.

Most of the teens from this show seem to be doing well for themselves. You don’t always have to be #1 with a bullet to be considered successful.

It has been an interesting phenomenon over 10 seasons to see the teens grow into adults without going off the rails. That’s unusual for the entertainment business. The only idol alum who have had problems have been the grown ups. Outside of Paris Bennett’s teen pregnancy (at least I think she was still a teenager), the various AI “kids” from Diana to Jordin to Allison etc, seem to do quite well.
