UPDATE: Read more about last night’s concert at Taste of Country.  The also have a nice gallery of photos (like the one above).  Plus, Country Weekly has the deets on the Kellie Pickler slip up that put her on the naughty list, “So during the first run-through, Kellie got a little confused about when to come in, and when it was her turn, she looked right into the camera and said, “Oh s&^t!”.

Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Kellie Pickler were just a few of the country stars who gathered at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville TN Thursday night to tape the CMA Country Christmas special.

Lauren sang “My Grown Up Christmas List” and Scotty crooned a heartfelt “The First Noel”

At the end of the night, the entire cast, including Scotty, Lauren and Kellie plus host, Jennifer Nettles, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill, Miss Piggy, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Faith Hill, Martina McBride and Amy Grant sang an unrehearsed and therefore funny version of  “Jingle Bells”, which Kellie Pickler took it upon herself to re-write. (“Oh sh*t!).  A lulzy time was had by all, I’m sure.

CMA Country Christmas airs on ABC Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9/8c and again on Saturday Dec. 17 9/8c.

Watch Scotty’s performance of “The First Noel” below.

I agree he did a great job.  I really like Josh Turner (although had not heard of him before Scotty did Your Man) but I’ve listened to several of Josh’s songs and have bought a couple, but Scotty has a lot more range than Josh has.

Beautiful, Scotty. I didn’t even see his face but I could feel the emotions. That’s a storyteller right there.

Doesn’t matter if he releases a Christmas album, or a children’s album, or an album full of Gaga covers…..I am buying it.

I believe another article says that Keith does his take on “A Christmas Song” as well as playing guitar for Little Big Town on “Santa Claus Is Back in Town”.

The special is called CMA Country Christmas so it makes sense that Scotty’s version sounds “countrified”.  IMO, the sincerity with which Scotty sings along with his deep, rich tones enhance any song he sings.  No doubt, if he was to put out a Christmas CD it would fly off the shelves.  I was hoping he would sing “Christmas in Dixie” but I did like his rendition of The First Noel very much and BTW, Scotty is on my grown-up Christmas list!

Here’s a video I found with everyone rehearsing the finale “Jingle Bells.” Scotty, Lauren, & Kellie each had a line to sing. Kellie messed up her part. LOL.

Gotta love Kellie! I wonder how many run throughs of this song they had to do?
I can’t wait to watch this on TV.

And I agree with one of the above posters, it would be great to get all the big country Idols and do a Chirstmas special. There sure is enough of them now: Carrie, Kellie, Scotty, Lauren and I’m sure we could rustle up a few more. It would be a great show that’s for sure.

LoL – yours is not the only Christmas list he’s on.  Saw a comment that was on his TTWG video youtube site.  It went something like this:  By the way Scotty don’t be frightened if a man in a red suit kidnaps you Christmas Eve, I asked for you for Christmas!.
