Carrie Underwood with Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina at today’s Simon Fuller Walk of Fame ceremony

Update: According to Idol Chatter Carrie Underwood will pick a song for Lauren Alaina and George Strait will choose for Scotty McCreery. No word on what those songs are. A third song will be a favorite performance chosen by Lauren and Scotty. eta: Carrie posted on her fan club message board that the song she chose for Lauren is one she really wanted to sing on the show but never got the chance. Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina’s coronation singles have LEAKED courtesy of the Taste of Country blog!

Country fans won’t have to wait long to hear Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina on the radio. Both plan to officially release their debut singles on Thursday, May 26, one day after the ‘American Idol‘ winner is announced. Taste of Country was tipped by a source at Universal Music Group, who tells us that McCreery’s song is called ‘Love You This Big’ and Alaina’s is titled ‘Like My Mother Does.’

Both singers will premiere their new singles during this week’s ‘Idol’ performance show on Tuesday, May 24. Our source didn’t provide further details about either teenager’s new music, but added that both performances will be available on iTunes on Tuesday night.

I wonder if country music songwriter, Tim Nichols co-wrote Scotty’s song? He tweeted recently, “American Idol finalist Scotty McCreery recorded one of my songs tonight in L.A.!” Nichols wrote “Live Like You Were Dying” and other songs.

UPDATE: Country artist, Jesse Lee also recorded a version of “Like My Mother Does”. Listen HERE.

Lauren’s single was recorded by Kristy Lee Cook for her ill-fated album, “Why Wait”. Hm. Listen below:

(and it better not be yodeling. Tough to do and tough to sell).

You now have me fantasizing that Haley has some yodeling on her winner’s single. I love a good yodeler!

I’m starting to think American Idol is going to morph into a Bigger Badder-Assed Nashville Star. Might as well play to your most loyal and consistent viewers and let the others mosey on over to X-Factor.

Not sure what to make of this Kristy Lee Cook do-over, but didn’t I read somewhere that Scotty and Lauren got to choose their singles from among three choices? Maybe Lauren just likes this treacly dreck. And Carrie was her choice, as well, wasn’t she? Makes sense to me, just like George Strait is logical for Scotty. Old Country vs. New Country. Hmm … Maybe Lauren can pull this off after all! (Oh, who am I kidding? Scotty has had this in the bag since his audition.)

ETA: I wonder if they’ll use Kristy Lee as a body double for Lauren on the cover of her album? Wouldn’t put anything past some of these decision-making bastards!

It is true because I have the coveted voucher e-mail for tickets. I chose to go Wednesday. Those were gone within a few hours. But if I click on the Tuesday ticket link, it is still open with tickets available.

I guess the Spring Teen Country Music Festival is a tough sell in SoCal.

Lauren has a twitter party this morning and someone asked was she happy with the song that Carrie picked for her. Lauren replied and said yes it’s a fun song.

”Fun song” is a good clue to know that it’s not a ballad.

I’m excited about carrie picking lauren’s song. She is one of the top country pop artists out there right now so I believe that will really help lauren gain support from fans and grow as a current artist no matter who wins. Even though I have heard the name george straight before I don’t know much about his music but I can easily assume he will help scotty a lot too in his chosen country path. As for the singles. I really think it is unfair that a people in the top 3 and top 9 2 for that matter get to sing original songs when someone in the top 2 doesn’t. I also don’t think it’s fair that one top 2 contestant gets a original song and the other one doesn’t. Be consistent judges/Producers! with all that being said I love both lauren and scotty and I want them both to be successful.
