My 11 year old daughter and a bunch of her classmates (boys and girls) are really rooting for Scott. I know it’s falling into the backstory trap AI has set but it’s actually sweet to see these kids cheering him on. I volunteered in her classroom today and the kids were talking about AI during one of their breaks. It actually made me a little teary to see how excited they were for him and how anxious they are for him to win. I know…. I’m way too sappy.

Dr Tracey stfu ok scott can sing his ass off and my hat is off to him for even have da nerve to come 2 da dam cheesy ass show and knowing that they are playing da sympathy role i could never do dat i jus could not stand da pity party. Scott might be in da finals and i predict top 6 the rest of them are jus comercial ass prototypes but scott is different and he will make a fortune doin christrian music.

Scott seems like a great guy, but he wouldn’t be there if not for his backstory. He’s not a terrible singer, but he’s not great either. I understand now why he picked that snoozefest of a song, but he’s got to do better!

Jorge also needs to start shaking it up a bit. I like him, but I don’t think I can deal with ballads every week.

We can agree to disagree Scott vocals do nothing for me sorry and Let me clarify I stated Ai is using his disability not him.That is the past he made it through just don’t like getting the feeling I kicked someones puppy..

Scott I like him personally but Ai is totally using his disability for sympathy votes.The problem imo is his vocals were not that good and others in the past were kicked off for better preforamnce .. Whom like Scott were good guys .So I am in the minority.

I feel the same way.
I think he’s a sweet and genuine kid and I like him but I don’t think he sings well enough to have a spot over someone like Ricky Braddy who can sing his socks off.
Scott was ‘cast’ because of his blindness and not his singing ability, simple as that.

Scott’s singing is growing on me too. Like you said abbysee, he’s not a perfect singer by any longshot of the imagination. But I do think he is a heartfelt singer in the sense that his passion for music comes through when he sings. And judging by Jason and Brooke being my two favorites from last season, I tend to take the singers who forge emotional connections over ones with perfect vocals.

But also like you said, even if AI is pimping Scott’s disability, I don’t feel he is using it to gain sympathy votes.

I like Scott too, and his performance while not perfect resonated with me. Call me a sucker. Also it’s just not the blind guy kicking better singers off every year. It’s the cute guy, the sexy girl, the blond, the token diva. It happens every year. And it’s not as though it’s Scott having his relatives hold up a picture of his cane, or seeing eye dog. I know the difference between judges pimping and people pimping themselves out. Tatiana was a good example, trying to use an idea out of Jorge’s play book. That’s not Scott.

I just have this feeling like Scott will be one of those providing one of those idol moments this year. Jason Castro proved you don’t have to have a perfect voice to do so, but a connection to the music.

I am not hating on this top twelve that much.

My feelings on Scott have nothing to do with his singing. He’s not responsible for how the show treats him. But he does seem to be a good guy and that I like.

I am sure that Jorge will sing in Spanish when he can. I think it adds a great variety to the show. We got a taste of it with Jason Castro last year, even a bit of French, too.:-). Jorge has grown on me, too, in part because I have family in Puerto Rico; but he does have a good voice. He is right about there being a lot of talent on the island.

Reading what Scott said makes me realize a tiny bit how difficult it is for him on stage. Everyone else just has to contend with their own nerves, song choice, and performance which is hard enough. I love his sense of humor.
