I wonder too, since I was already sick to death of the song BEFORE Katharine sung it. I guess it was new to people who only listen to Top 40 radio or AC.

I wish I could watch Grey’s Anatomy because of the great drama and relationships but I can’t. I can’t watch any medical shows what so ever. They remind me of work and I am trying to escape from work when I watch TV.

Dingo – Yes, I watched it. Knowing she won’t die, diluted the drama for me. But, yes, Patrick Dempsey did a good job of conveying the character’s grief. Less convincing was Christina’s sudden revelation that Meredith is her “person”. Felt a little too contrived to wring more tears out of the viewers.

They remind me of work and I am trying to escape from work when I watch TV.

When you work in the health field its difficult to escape work. there is death and dying all around. Who has cancer who has heart disease etc. With all the fucking pharmaceutical ads on TV you couldnt escape it if you wanted to but Grey’s Anatomy is a great show. ER lost its luster for me years ago and I loved Chicago Hope but they pulled it.

Awwww metta, I love Christina. I think she had a “moment”, a feeling that something had gone wrong and thats what they were trying to portray on the show when she kept asking for Meredith. A premonition if you will.

Like I said, Im not a big fan of McDreamy but he was wonderful last Thursday. Oh, face it. Im a big fuckin’ baby is what I am. I cry when I read the ingredients on my box of count dracula.

My husband’s a physician but he used to watch ER religiously and now never misses an episode of HOUSE. He thinks the medical aspect of the show is ludicrous–though he has a pretty good track record of diagnosing some of the cases before the answers are revealed–but enjoys the House character.

Hey Dingo, I’m actually jealous of the birds cause they have a “hot tub”. Was watching them yesterday and went online to look for a local hotel with a hot tub to go spend the night. I talked to my Mom yesterday and my Dad was complaining that “it was colder than a well digger’s ass (southern saying)” in Tampa cause it was 40 something degrees. I almost threw the phone into the fireplace. I’d pay good money for 40 something degrees.

I’m embarrassed to say that I’d never even heard Tunstall’s song until Kat did it on AI. My station never played it. After I heard Kat sing it, I went on a missions to find it because I really liked it AND now my station does play it. I guess it helped Tunstall out with those of us that are a little behind the curve. That bing said, I thought it was dumb that she was on the floor and the firs thing I thought was that she was trying to be Fantasia. I didn’t like Fantasia but I did like her rendition of Summertime and for some reason floor singing seemed to fit that song.

I actually went to a preconcert party before Elliott’s Richmond show and there was a karaoke there. Someone did BHICT and started out on the floor – a total Kat spoof – hilarious!

Seriously. I read a rumor that TR Knight was considering leaving the show. Hope that’s false because his character and Miranda Bailey are my absolute faves.

Liz – I only know what I read here. A regular poster here met a friend of Tay’s on another (non-AI) blog before he even auditioned for Idol. She said that E’s bodyguard was treating him badly and that Taylor stepped in to defend E, words were exchanged. The speculation is that that guard may be the source for the Diva article.

My mother is a nurse and watches Grey’s Anatomy religiously but I personally can’t do that. Anything medical in terms of a show turns me off. I rather watch AI, movies, news. There may be death and dying all around us but I can’t watch contrived medical shows. Reality is fine. That is just me. I wish I could watch Grey’s Anatomy though. It is a great show.

i always wonder how kt tunstall can have her success ATTRIBUTED TO KATà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦when Kat only sang her song that week because she was ALREADY A TOP TEN HIT.

wow. i see the logic there.

Because Billboard has a LOT of top 10 charts and they are not nearly equal in terms of exposure. Sure, KT was having some success before Kat sang it on idol. But it was certainly a great deal for her in getting it heard by a lot of people who had never heard it before. Maybe it would have eventually picked up as much as it did on its own, but there is no guarantee and even if it did, the exposure on idol certainly sped things up.

Just a minor note on those charts Allen posted, there is actually a bit of mixing going on. The AC chart link is for all monitored stations and the Hot AC chart link is the published chart (a sub-set of the monitored stations…I suspect that it is more representative of the entire US market. Mediabase does not monitor all stations).

What difference does it make? Usually not much. But here is an example:

Monitored stations:
75 Katharine McPhee “Over It”
82 Elliott Yamin “Movin On”

Published Chart:
73 Katharine Mcphee “Over It”
78 Elliott Yamin “Movin On”

You can tell by the format= value.
a1M is monitored AC
a1R is published AC.
a2M is monitored Hot AC
a2R is published Hot AC

So, to be consistent, one might want to use a1M and a2M or a1R and a2R.

Before Kat sang it, I was getting tired of it, because the AC station here was playing it constantly. The radio station LOVED it so very much, and always commented on it. I hadn’t thought about that little pink flushing toliet in years. OK, I admit I was fascinated by it, too. If I remember correctly, when you opened the lid it forced the water to “flush”. I think it disappeared into the “tank”. When you closed the lid, the water came back into the bowl.

I didn’t really hate barbie. But I was more into creating things for her than dressing her. My dad smoked a pipe, so he used lots of matches. I saved the match boxes, glued them together, painted them and made a “dresser’ for her clothes and shoes. I painted a cardbord box and “wallpapered” the inside with striped wrapping paper. I cut out windows and glued hard plastic to the openings to make the glass for the windows. I even glued green shutters to the outside of my house. That was a much more interesting way to spend my time than dressing her.

Bo is incredible live. He moves around the stage and uses a lot of energy. It is interesting to watch guys at his concert who were probably “dragged” there by their GF or wife. Before the concert some of them act like they don’t want to be there. But after Bo starts singing you see them really getting into the concert. At the last Bo concert that I went to in Charlottesville, there was an obnoxious guy behind me yelling before Bo started that he would rather see the girl from the opening act again. I turned around and glared at him. A few minutes later he was standing up and dancing and singing along to Bo’s concert.

I hope Bo gets signed to another label and gets to go on tour soon.

I don’t know that Taylor is performing with anyone except his band. But being the student of music history that he is, I would think that he would love to perform with someone like Al Green. Just like he obviously enjoyed performing with Gladys Knight.

I just visited Bo’s Myspace. I really enjoyed watching the clip of him singing Gimmie Back My Bullets with Lynyrd Skynyrd in a video that is on his page.

He mentioned yesterday that he was going to be in the recording studio all night and that the CD will be out in about two months. I can’t wait to hear his new music. :)

Thanks for the link. Although, I am mainly a Bo and Taylor fan, I really hope Ace does well. I met him after one of the AI concerts. I was really impressed with how he came out after the concert and interacted with the crowd. He has great PR skills and seems like a really nice person.

Thanks for the Paris video. I actually thought both her songs were pretty good. I think her problem will be that she’s not “sexy” enough for the current music scene. But she sounds very good. Her management is pretty solid – manages Dionne Warwick, Ashanti, etc. I thought she was pretty bad on tour though. Didn’t like her dancing.

I thought I would be sick the night Paris was acting like Beyonce. It seemed like a little girl playacting to me. :( I loved her audition.

I looked at Idol Chatter and quite a few of top 24 have degrees in voice/music. Many have been involved with theatre groups/boy bands/toured etc. Lakeisha (for ex.) is classically trained. I think most of the them have college degrees. I think they will all be adequate and no one will be a joke. Of course, they’re all a blur to me. I hate to say it, but Paris still sounds better than any of the girls I’ve heard this year.

Sarah…My vet isn’t open this afternoon, so I thought I would try my virtual vet, DogDoc. :) My Lab, who is only 5, seems to be having a urinary problem. I took a sample in the other day after she had an accident while ASLEEP! They said she didn’t have an infection and maybe she just drank too much that day. Well, it just happened again, on my sofa…again while she was asleep. Something ain’t right and I’m concerned.

Squishy – she has places in Malibu and Beverly Hills, but the head-shaving incident took place in Sherman Oaks, so it’s got to be even hotter there.

CarieB………I am on the westside near the Marina and am sitting in the house with AC on instead of out enjoying the weather. But, actually, I see some fog rolling in right now, so it will cool down on the coast. We are so spoiled.

Lakeside LOL. I am a “geek” like that too. Those must be new, cause the ones I saw earlier had Leslie ranked higher.

I’m not surprised about the guys they’ve called for the top 12 either… although for me, Rudy and Phil are kind of interchangeable. I think one or the other will make it. It will just depend on performances.

The girls, I’m kind of skeptical. We’ve seen almost nothing of either Sabrina or Stephanie, yet they have them ranked above Leslie and Gina? Once again though… since we’ve seen so little of most of them, it will depend on the performances.

Very interesting that the 2 people who I picked to be in the finals are the same 2 with the best odds: Chris Sligh and Lakisha thus “The Personality vs The Powerhouse.”

But Vegas odds at this point last year had Ace with the best odds then later Chris. They were way off.

Is your lab a spayed female? She may be incontinent. Before a dog is presumed incontinent a complete physical exam, urinalysis, bloodwork and radiographs should be done to make sure there is no underlying metabolic issues. Kidney, adrenal, infection, urinary stones, etc can all cause increase in urination. Urinating while a- sleep sounds like urinary incontinence which can occur in spayed female dogs and is treatable, but you want to make sure it is not something more serious.

yes, Dingo. Thank you. Actually my vet said the other day that some female dogs have had this problem occur years after they were spayed. It’s supposedly a hormone thing. Where did you see that info?

DogDoc!!!! Thank you!!!! I was typing to Dingo when you were answering me. Thankyouthankyouthankyou. I’m taking her in first thing Monday morning. You have made me feel so much better. :) And my vet did say that if it happened again to bring her in because they could do so much more checking than just from the sample I took.

Dingo hit it on the nose, but since I cannot perform a physical or testing I cannot rule out other conditions.

Incontinence can be a life long problem and need lifelong treatment. It is best to rule out other causes. The treatment is simple and inexpensive.

He’s doing me a HUGE favor by coming with me, because he doesn’t watch Idol and I don’t think he’s particularly fond of Taylor (but finds him entertaining enough to enjoy the show, I think). But it’s bound to change pretty quickly as soon as the show proper gets going. I’m hoping for some unpimped contestants to step up and make their mark actually – that’s always fun. Elliott was one of the almost-invisible people last year at this stage and we know how that ended.

I finally made it back from my big trip to Abilene. The Daughtry concert was AMAZING!!! I’m too exhausted to post a very biased review right now, but I’ll try to post something later this evening. Yeah, I know, all the Taylor fans are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for details! LOL I didn’t get a picture with Chris, but I did stand firmly on the front row and….well, I’ll save the rest for later. I’m off to take a well-deserved nap!

Oh, and for those who were wondering about my son – he had a car wreck after sliding on black ice and plowing into a guard rail. He suffered a broken arm and numerous bumps and bruises but is otherwise okay. His car is totaled, but at least he’s alive. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. This is why I truly love this blog!
