TUESDAY (Top 8 perform): 26.7 million
WEDNESDAY (Top 8 results): 26.1 million

Comparatively, Tuesday’s ratings are DOWN from last year’s top 8 performance show, courtesy of MJ’s historical chart (29.6 millon), but for some reason, last year’s results show from the same week really took a plunge and was the lowest rated episode of the entire season (22.6 million)

Dave White’s reviews (Pop A Squat, courtesy of Lisa B) are the BEST. Love his Chris R and Haley observations especially. Worth the read – thanks, LisaB!

I wonder why the ratings were so awful on Final 8 results last year. If you look two weeks forward and back it looks likes this:

27.6 – 26.2 – 22.6 – 27.6 – 28.2

Somebody asked last week how this season is doing in comparison to Season 4, so I checked the ratings for this week.

During the same week in 2005, the show received 25.6 million viewers on Performance night and 24.9 on results. So, Season 6 is up 4% and 5% respectively from Season 4 (the Season 5 Final 8 performance night was up 19% over Season 4)

I did some checking. I think it was because it was a one hour episode starting a half hour early. The ratings from 8:30-9:00 are a relatively dismal 10.7/17, but they pick up to there ordinary range from 9:00-9:30 15.9/24.

Comparing to the half hour (9:00) shows that were a week before and after (15.7/23 and 16.5/25) indicates to me that AI didn’t do a good job of getting out the word that they would be starting a half hour early (either that, or people know that the first half hour is filler and didn’t want to switch over from Deal or No Deal).

Sanjaya bobble head! Priceless. LOL

I can’t remember which one, but yesterday this ad was on the front page of one of the news sites.

For anyone who is not from this area, he was hurt going to the meeting with Imus and the Rutgers basketball team.

Platinum, there is no need to worry about Taylor. He is a BIG boy. He knows how to take care of himself..All singers get hoarse. It’s par for the course because of what they do for a living..

Evenmore reasons why one should not be so offended when they see him at the bus and during M&G and he is not talking much. Just remember, talking puts just as much strain on the vocalcords…

From the beginning when I heard that his tour would more than double its venue ( from an original 23 cities ), I said it wasn’t a good idea.

Many people responded by saying that he thrives on this…I guess I was right. The man is mortal after all.

2 night rests in between tours should have been the the schedule instead of the almost non-stop daily shows he’s been doing.

At the gym today, I caught VH1 countdown. Kat’s tune Over It debuted at #1, (#2 was DAUGHTRY). To those who know this stuff, how many CDs do the idols Clive signed have to sell to make a profit. Ages ago, someone posted the magic nbr for Chris/Taylor was 1.5 million. (seems insanely high to me.) How many would Kat have to sell to make some dough for them? Nevada? Kirsten? anyone? (I’m guessing they made some $ with Kellie’s inexpensive but Gold Cd.)

ATTENTION BUCKY FANS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES! Here’s my brief recap of last night’s Bucky concert at Joe’s on Weed St. in Chicago.

We got to Joe’s around 7:15 so we could have a bit to eat before the concert started at 8:30. Joe’s is a sports bar in the front and a concert venue in the back. When we arrived, people were already in line to get into the concert area. However, the show wasn’t sold out, so I could have avoided those $6 ticketmaster fees. Sigh.

While we ate, I heard “Before He Cheats” and “I Wonder” over the speaker in the sports bar. After dinner, we made our way into the concert area. It was pretty full already, but not at all jammed packed. The crowd was a mix of ages and gender… there could have been more men than women. I did see a couple of bedazzlers, but not too many.

The concert started a half an hour late, and we were hoping that Bucky would be the first performer as there was another act on the bill. We heard some screams and out walked… Rocky! I’m pretty sure some people though it was Bucky. Heck, I thought it was Bucky until he planted himself behind the drums. He had his hair pulled back and stripped to a tank top that revealed a big tattoo on his shoulder. Bucky came out to more screams, his blond, wavy hair flowing so beautifully I couldn’t help but curse Big Sexy Hair for giving the contract to the wrong Idol.

Bucky mostly sang, but played rhythm guitar on a couple of tunes, including a cover of “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” that brought down the house. My friend turned to me and exclaimed, “He should have sang that on the show!” It was a good choice. My friend watched Idol last year but doesn’t follow them once the show is over. I think she was very surprised that he was so good. She kept going on about how much Bucky and Rocky look alike, so I told her about their arrest switcheroo. She laughed and looked at me like I was a bedazzler.

I don’t have a set list as I don’t know the names of all of Bucky’s songs. I just listened to the album briefly online while getting ready for the show. BTW, I think Bucky was smart to put the voiceovers on the streaming album to prevent ripping. But I digress. He sang “A Different World” towards the beginning of the show. He closed the show with a rocking tune and left the stage and made his way through the crowd, passing by me and my friend and shaking our hands. My friend joked that she was never going to wash her hand again.

Random observations:

I prefer “rocking country” Bucky to “ballad country” Bucky.

Bucky drank Corona but mostly bottled water on stage.

The band had some difficulty transitioning between songs. Too much delay, but I’m sure that will be worked out as they continue to perform together. I think they had some equipment problems in the beginning.

I was hoping for more “Bucky-banter” than we got. He did ask if anyone was not drinking. After he got some cheers, he quipped, “Good, cuz I’m gonna need a ride home.” He also asked if the venue had enough bars (there are three huge bars along the sides and back in this place.) Other than some random remarks like that, we didn’t get much in terms of storytelling.

I tried to take a picture of Bucky with my cell phone, but it didn’t turn out very well.

After the show, Bucky disappeared into the VIP loft. Brother Rocky stayed on the outskirts of the VIP area, smoking and chatting up females.

I think Bucky said the lead guitarist’s name was Hans, but I’m not sure. “Hans” was pretty cute.

At one point, a woman in a cowboy hat jumped on stage with Bucky and danced around. He pretty much ignored her until she was removed. LOL.

There were peeps with video cameras, so hopefully some footage will emerge.

I wasn’t sure if the crowd was there to see Bucky or Jason Michael Carroll, the dude who followed him. We only stayed for a few of his songs.

Bucky merchandise for sale consisted of a glossy pic for $5 and three t-shirts, priced at $15, $20, and $25.

Over It was also #1 on MTV Asia’s countdown this week.

The swing voters are the tough ones, but if I had to guess, I’d have to predict that it never looks good whining about curfew…especially when that curfew is part of a chance of a lifetime.

I wondered if anyone was actually reading my posts, because I thought that bit of info was a pretty big deal. LOL. I mean, I know that the hometown parties during the finale week have press everywhere, and regular viewing parties have local press. But has any big media outlet like this ever been at just a regular viewing party before? I guess if they have, we just haven’t seen it. But I wonder now if this means we’ll see footage of the viewing party on MTV. That would be awesome!

Well people on the boards are annoyed he complained. But the media is mainly talking about him breaking curfew in the first place. Which is a silly thing to focus on since Sanjaya is the one with the fake id; isn’t that much worse? Yet I like Sanjaya so much more for it.

Kat, I don’t recall the EW article judging Blake for skipping curfew. I think they just quoted him. I haven’t seen any of the other mentions of it, so I’m not sure how it’s being presented.

I just read an interview with Blake and he mentioned he has over 300 hats. I assume we’ll see more of them before it’s all said and done.

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but I’m hearing Robin Thicke’s Lost Without You song for the first time and imo – it blows – big time… blech

Great news about MTV covering the Blake viewing party I skimmed through the ew article last night online. In my opinion, I can see where a 10pm curfew would be annoying for those that are of age. Even when I was 17 as Jordin and Sanjaya are I think I was allowed a midnight curfew. Wasn’t I koolmomma?
