Sanjaya Received a $100,000 Advance on his Book

Andy Dehnart over at Reality Blurred offers a comprehensive and well-organized summary of Sanjaya Malakar’s recent interview with Howard Stern.

Say what you will about Howard, his interviews are never boring.   I’m willing to bet the interview is more interesting than anything found in Sanjaya’s book.

After you read this excerpt from ABC News, tell me I’m wrong…

The highlights:

  • Sanjaya claims he received a $100,000 advance for his book. (His publisher ain’t never gonna make that back.)
  • He’s not gay. He’s been dating a 17 year-old high school senior for the past year.
  • He lost his virginity at 16
  • He’d be willing to pose nude if it were “really classy”
  • About Blake bad mouthing him in interviews, Sanjaya said “the guy has his own talents” and that it didn’t bother him..

Sounding nasally, and just under-pitch throughout, I think Sanjaya could benefit from some vocal training. Plus, the songs sound very un-polished, like demos. Seriously, with a good producer and some training, Sanjaya could do better than this…

    Yeah, I shall confess that I read it too. I didn’t have a high opinion of Sanjaya before I read or listened to the interviews, and I still don’t (in fact it may be even lower now). Going on the Howard Stern (what was he thinking) show and giving details of his “relationship” with his girlfriend is all kinds of wrong. I feel sorry for her.

    All the sexual details were more than I will ever need to know about Sanjaya! Great role model. *rolls eyes*

    I do not *ever* want to hear *anything* more about Sanjaya Malakar’s sex life. And Howard Stern? Ewwww. I would have a bit more respect for the kid if he didn’t seem so determined to remain a sideshow.

    she was growing marijuana for medical use and that got blown out of proportion. He said that it’s a grey area there.

    His mother grew a lot of marijuana. They got busted with over 300 plants, but he was living with another relative at the time.

    It was TMI, but it is Stern; he seemed to know what he was getting into. Unless he wanted his girlfriend to dump him and her parents to kill him, chances are he got the ok from her about this subject beforehand. If I was dating someone everyone in the free world thought was gay (I’m sure the girl gets comments all the time), I’d have him blaring it from the rooftops, and I’m pretty prudish. :biggrin_wp:

    Offhand, that excerpt is all over the place. It’s a lot of fluff, but there’s glimmers in it (like hoping he could force himself to do good enough just to not get completely trashed by Simon). Interesting he only mentions having his sister and friends to go back home to…IC mentioned something about him going to 10 different schools in 10 years :blink_tb:
