Sales News – Week Ending 10/08/15

October continues to be a lean month for reality singing competitions. When even the judges can’t crack the top 50, one knows that times are rough. Our lone representative in the top 50 so far (with 80% of reports in) is Pentatonic featured on a track of the Pitch Perfect II Soundtrack. October 23rd cannot come fast enough.

Janet Jackson is sailing towards her 7th number one album with about 100K in combined sales. Her last album “Discipline” was released seven years ago and sold 181K. Her other chart toppers were All for You (in 2001), The Velvet Rope (1997), janet. (1993), Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) and Control (1986). There aren’t many artists who can top the album charts for going on 30 years. Tamara Braxton makes it one two on the sales chart for female R&B artists with George Strait coming in third for his second week. Drake & Future are 4th while Done Henley slides from first last week to 5th this week. The Weeknd is still lurking in the top 10, Tohas Rett is holding steady at 7th and Taylor Swift lives in the top 10. Clutch (hard/funk rock) is the third debut in the top 10 at 9 and Luke Bryan is 10th.
