Voice winner Sawyer Frederick dropped his studio album this week. Sawyer previously released a self-titled EP and an album of his Voice tunes, but “A Good Storm” is his first official album. It currently sits at 16th on the sales chart, but without a lot of action on the singles front, it may not hold the position on the BB200.
Idol Carrie Underwood continues on the chart with “Storyteller” at 39th. The latest NOW competition (NOW 58) hosts Idol’s Kelly Clarkson and X-Factor’s Zayn. It sits at 11th.
The top debut of the week is Meghan Trainor with sales off from her previous album. That album came with a couple of popular singles while this album comes with a new song. Let’s see if the transition will work for her. She won’t have the top album of the week – currently Beyonce is beating her in sales and Drake is a streaming monster who will likely take the top of the BB200. Pierce the Veil (hardcore rock) is 4th, Prince continues at 5th, Keith Urban only loses two spots in his second week and Jennifer Nettles is 7th. Radiohead was number one in sales last week, but they slide to 8th this week. Kygo is a Norwegian DJ and he’s debuting in 9th currently while Chris Stapleton remains tethered to the top 10 at 10th.
HDD highlights Lauren Alaina as a potential breakout artist. Other artist they discuss include Desiigner (he just topped the Hot100 two weeks running, so I’m not giving them much credit for discovering him) and Ruth B whose “Lost Boy” has been getting radio attention.
