Ryan Seacrest May Be Too Ill to Host Idol Tonight

UPDATE: 4:50 PM PDT — Sources tell TMZ … Ryan is going to go for it … although they will have puke buckets on the stage … just in case he loses it.

Ryan Seacrest feels like crap … so much so he missed the rehearsal for “American Idol” tonight, and sources connected with the production of the show tell TMZ … Ryan may be MIA for the first time in the 11-season run of the show.

We’re told Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe stepped in for Ryan during the dress rehearsal this afternoon.

Sources say Ryan had an IV in his arm, and is fighting “a bad stomach bug.” We’re told he was throwing up all last night and today.

Ryan was not at the rehearsal and it’s unclear if he’ll do the show. If he doesn’t, Nigel is ready to step in.

    he’s doing a great job tonight,you can’t tell anything is wrong with him at all.

    He did well.  But I noticed he was sitting down throughout the first half of the show….either on a stool, a piano bench, etc.  He was standing throughout most of the second half.  So he must have been feeling better.

    A bit of Idol trivia.  Ryan never missed an American Idol performance yet.  But the summer he hosted American Juniors, he missed one performance.  Who took his place as host that week.

    Hint…She is in the news this week…did not have a good week on reality TV.

    That explains a lot actually. I thought something was up when:

    1) Ryan didn’t walk down the stairs in the beginning like he normally does.

    2) Someone else did the opening Queen VoiceOver (Nigel?)

    3) Julianne Hough waiting backstage (I think she was on standby in case Ryan lost it).

    You know what? The hardest working man in showbiz can take a day off if he needs it. I mean 11 years, perfect attendance, DAMN. Feel better, Ryan!

    DialIdol had a total twist and now this is more or less what I was expecting> Jessic or Skylar or Joshua and Elise in the bottom 3 with Elise going home. The only two safe, IMO, are Hollie and P2.

    I’ve watched since season one and Ryan is always there — it will be odd without him.   I’ve noticed in past couple weeks his face was looking a bit worn or aged and I thought he’s probably tired or hasn’t started doing botox like the rest of them.  He’s very particular about his looks though.  He was a pro as usual last night but I did notice something seemed off and saggy in his face – maybe he was just feeling sick and worn out from over work.
