Ryan Seacrest appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show today to dish on Idol and his new show with Jamie Oliver, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

Ryan admits that he has a favorite Idol, but he’s not going to say who it is, ’cause he’s got to stand next to them every week.

Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze both have good radio voices, according to Ryan, and he thinks Siobhan Magnus is “very good.”

He pointed at a photo of Tim Urban and said, “He just looks like that all the time, and he gets through every week.”

“He never blinks” says Ellen.

Ryan also admitted the show ran over 11 minutes recently, but they managed to get it back on track. Ellen complained that she’s the only judge who keeps her remarks short when asked, “I keep it short, and then other people talk and talk and talk..hey I had things to say!”

After the break, Ryan took some Idol questions from the audience, and addressed the “tension” between he and Simon Cowell.  Since it’s easier this year to approach the judges’ table, Ryan loves getting in Simon’s face. (Oh, it’s fake).

In honor of Ryan’s 10th visit to the show, Ellen presented him with a fugly gold jacket emblazoned with a giant 10 on the back.  Watch the video after the jump…

I’m glad Ryan has found a way to let at least a little of his good heart and humanity show. I do think, though, that he has a real problem with over-working that could bite him down the road. I’m glad to hear Ellen providing some kind of help in that regard. They’re both busy, busy people, but it seems that Ellen has found a way to keep a healthy personal life in that mix.

Nice little insights into what their Idol world looks like from the inside.

there is something so annoying and artificial about the way ryan speaks. it’s just hard to listen to especially int he context of a ‘normal conversation’…

To each their own, of course, but I don’t see anything annoying about his voice, althought I think that he has a special “presenter voice” that he uses on endless shows he hosts every day of his life.

I thought so too. He kind of gave some insight into some things you might have always wanted to know but never had the chance to ask. Ryan is probably one the busiest people in show business. Several of the idols have commented on that fact over the years and have been amazed at how much work he has on his plate and how he manages to juggle all of it.

    Thanks mj. :)

I like him. He’s annoying sometimes but I really like him. He must require very little sleep, though.
