I remember that Luther Vandross had a severe stroke in April, 2003 and Barry White died in July, 2003, so suddenly there was a lack of the kind of smooth R&B singers right around the time that Ruben won Idol. Considering how he sang on the show, it would have been a natural extension and fit for him to record the kind of music the Vandross/White sang and I recall Ruben saying in an online chat that he had wanted to record that kind of music, but Clive Davis had other plans. It will be interesting to see if Ruben can reintroduce himself to the public with this new CD. He really is a very talented singer and I wish him the best.

sexy sexy! Great tune for Ruben. Will always love Teddy a fraction better but ain’t mad at’em. I liked watching the Unsung episode on Teddy – the women at his concerts…lol. I think Ruben may have spoken on that. I remember seeing him on someone’s unsung episode.

This is the Ruben I remember from idol, smooth vocals. I bought his first CD and was very disappointed. Will be checking this one out.
