Hey, I went to the Rochester show too. Agree with your recap for the most part, although I was actually kind of impressed with Syesha!

My neighbor and I commented to each other how weird it was that these idols weÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d watched on tv for months were right here, in our town, standing in front of us, but that we were so used to watching them on tv that we had to keep reminding ourselves to actually watch them on the stage instead of on the giant screens.

Totally agree! I kept saying the same thing! It’s a little surreal. My friend was taking lots of videos on her camera, and I had to keep reminding her to watch the idols on stage, not through her camera, because she would regret it later!

We had really good seats even though we had a side view of the stage, all the way to the right. We had a view of a hallway backstage and kept seeing the idols walking back and forth, so my friend and I pride ourselves on the fact that we saw the two Davids before anyone else did. Mr. Archuleta was standing with the security guards watching the show right in front of us, and we had a sign that said “ARCHU-LET-US BACKSTAGE!” and he saw it and laughed at it, then we showed it to him again when he was in the hallway we saw backstage, and he made a “wait a second” gesture, and then walked off. We thought he was going to get us some passes, but he’s just a tease.

And David Cook reached out and grabbed my hand and I felt like I was watching it happen in slow motion – it was quite a reach from where he was to where I was, so I’m surprised he made the effort! He looked kind of scary up really close, with the eyeliner and all. But scary in a…you’re a frighteningly talented rockstar!..kind of way.

Excellent review. I also thought to myself the shots on the big screen were just like watching it on tv! While all performances weren’t stellar, it’s about where they started and where they are headed, and we’re lucky enough to be a small part of that. Isn’t there an idol in all of us just dying to get out?????All have matured and grown since we last saw them on tv. Cheesey – maybe, but it’s my thing and I love it!!

Nice account of the show! My daughter and I are going to the Philadelphia show next month. In addition to really looking forward to seeing how DC works the stage (and also seeing how close he gets to our seats, which are really good), we can’t wait to see Chikezie. We loved him and missed him so much after he was gone from the show. Great to read that he’s such a presence! His voice and DC’s voice are definitely our favorites.

What a Beautifully written review. You captured David Cook’s essence perfectly!
Thank You for the recap and taking me along for another sweet ride.
Ever since he performed, “Hello” I was onboard and committed to his career and music. He is an amazing artist and humanitarian.
As much as I enjoy listening to his music and watching his performances, I swell with pride when I see him giving his time to the Cancer causes.
His heart is as big as his voice!

Okay, I loved your review. Primarily I loved it because you really do get David Cook. Or at least you get him the same way that I do, which makes it the right way to me anyway. I just can’t get enough of him. I love that every single thing he does feels new and current and exciting. Any time he is anywhere within driving distance, I’m going to be there. I was too young for Beatle mania, far too young for Elvis mania. But I am absolutely just right for Cook mania because I don’t think there is a right age. He is fantastic with children and grandmas think they’re young again when he’s around and he is certatinly perfect for everyone in between. I can even forgive the eyeliner. He sweats. Someone probably put it on right and by the time he is up there doing his thing under the lights it has run all over the place. Thanks for sharing your concert experience.

Thanks every for such positive responses and nice comments! I wasn’t sure if I was being way too long or boring.

I did mix up the distance we are from NYC, I was thinking 7 *hours* drive and that somehow turned into 700 miles!

I get the comment about sounding a bit catty, I tried not to, especially after the “professional” review in our local paper was so disrespectful of everyone and everything about the show! But you know, if you buy yourself some shiny new D-cups and put them out there on display, the point is for people to notice them, right?

Rochester is a bit provincial – I hadn’t seen those gloves before. I’m also a mom who just plain doesn’t get out much, so maybe some fashionable younger women are wearing them to clubs at night or whatever, but it’s not the kind of thing you see on the other moms at the playground or the PTA! I also hadn’t encountered the t-shirt blaster things before… they didn’t used to do stuff like that at Dead shows…

The review would have been in earlier, sorry to leave everyone hanging, but I was a dork and sent it to a slightly incorrect e-mail address.

Quick thing…you sounded as if the T-shirt throwing machine was new to you? Maybe it is in Rochester, but it’s been around a while. Eyes are in danger, but from aggressive fans vs the technology. Like the man that battled with kid. That’s the danger…

Carly’s gloves? Statement fashion. They’re around…but I guess not in Rochester. Now that you’ve seen them, you’ll notice them around more.

Karen, thanks for the recap…really enjoyed it! I’m assuming you were being sarcastic but, just for those who don’t know, Rochester is about 350 miles from NYC…not 700. But those of us who live, or used to live, in Western NY DO get kinda annoyed by everyone’s assumption that we have anything to do with NYC other than share a state.

Karen, I love the way you write! Very intelligent and with musical knowledge.

He also seemed really warm and open and himself, not struggling with talking to the audience like some idols.

I wish I knew what Jason said. We had the screaming girls behind us and all I could see was his beautiful smile. Glad to hear how happy you were with David Cook’s performance.
