Lyndsey Parker, of Yahoo Music, in an interview with Idol judge Randy Jackson, tries her hardest to get him to spill some deets about Season 9 of American Idol, but he keeps tight-lipped.

Instead, we get the usual spin and yakety-yakk we’ve grown to know and love (or not) from Randy-dawg.

He does offer one clue, “Someone with hair will win American Idol.”     Ha ha Randy, I guess that sucks for all those Daughtry-clones out there.   And, Randy says he’s pulling for a girl to take it all this year.

He’s only heard the singles from this year’s crop of signed Idols, but Randy heard no surprises from Kris Allen, Adam Lambert or Allison Iraheta.   He thinks they all stuck to what worked for them on the show.

Video after the JUMP…

    Da! Randy ‘Prestidigitateurs’ Jackson.

  • progression

A girl to win?! Really?!? *Shocked*
If I was a guy I wouldn’t even try out for this season.

  • jumpstart

Ugh. I wish they would all shut up and just let what happens occur naturally.

  • carolinacharms

Speak truth to power, Randy! For once!!

  • rblaha1234

    Randy sounds boring to me.

  • SybilTrelawney

Yo, Randy, dawg, your interview was jus’ aw’ight for you for me. I guess its good to know that he has the same lack of articulateness in RL that he has as a show.

  • Finn

The gum chewing is pretty distracting.

  • riaspark17

Interesting hearing him talk about his thoughts on the current idols’ singles. Would like to hear the other judges’ opinions, even if it means nothing.

I thought “No Surprise” was a Daughtry song. I’m confused , which is not unusual unfortunately.

Lyndsey has such an awesome job, haha. I would love to see her interview Kara.

  • suebrody

Well, that was sorta kinda boring…I do think we are going to Top 24 this year again, please say yes….

I’d rather hear Kara, frankly. She can be pretty articulate. Randy, dawg, when was the last time you said something relevant?

I hope this Ellen-thing works out, b/c I could not be less enthused about S9.

  • uagirl

Randy sucks. Between chewing the gum like it’s cud, and his complete lack of saying anything substantial. Useless.

10 min of nothing from Randy….lyndsey did her best but he was epic FAIL….should have kept paula and booted Randy….at least Simon would have given a lil more scoop…and I’m not a Danny fan but NOBODY mentions him and he was in the TOP 3. I wanted to hear more about what he thought of Adam….but his 3 conditions all fit Adam IMO

  • ianaleah

Oh bullstinky, AI lost all credibility. It has given us a lot of pleasure, and I am a fan, but some really great singers didn’t get put into the top 13 by the judges, and that’s just the start….. It has been Paula who seems confused, and unfocused when speaking who has actually been right on target with her choices & critique- far more so than Simon-who jumps on the bandwagon last. Perception rules though. And of course if Randy says a girl will win, we will be lead there.Ellen’s taste by the way, as far as music, sucks -therefore she dosen’t speak for me “the average viewer”-i do not and never will like hip hop-which she loves.

  • Grammie Kari

I would hope there wouldn’t be a Hip Hop singer in the Top 10. I know it would be popular to have a week dedicated to the music, but it’s not something I would push for.

Randy is a big dud for me. He knows what a lot of fans of the show think about him. I would hope he would make an effort to present intellect critiques this year. He knows the music, so speak the truth.

I am looking to Kara to give us the details.

I can’t even begin to say what I think about this interview and S9. The only thing I’m looking forward to is Ellen and maybe Kara upping her game. The only downside is how they are going to try to pull Ellen into their manipulations as the “at home” person. I hope it’s not too obvious, like last year, because I love Ellen and want to love her on idol.
