“I’m a Republican, voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy bitches is f*ckin’ up the economy,” Nicki Minaj rhymes on Lil’ Wayne’s “Dedication 4″ track, “Mercy.”

That rhyme raised a few eyebrows. But during an interview with Orlando, Florida radio station, Power 95.3, this morning, President Barack Obama addressed the soon-to-be American Idol judge’s comments. He isn’t convinced that Nicki meant the rap literally.

“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there,” Obama said.

Indeed. Nicki confirms on twitter that she was just playin’. “Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support* @BarackObama”

haha! She’s implying that all of us who thought she was endorsing Romney aren’t smart. I hate her and Love her at the same time.

Well, it wouldn’t be smart to take that line as fact, and ignore that in the next verse she is talking about hanging out and partying with zoombies.  If one verse is true, then the other one must be too.

so does this now mean that we wont get to know the Idol judges until the 6 November???

Actually after reading about this here last week I went and listened to the song this weekend. It was obvious IMO when you listened in context that she was being sarcastic.

Just another reason you should always view these out-of-nowhere viral “controversies” with a grain of salt.

The newspapers are clearly burying the lede in this story, which is that Malia Obama is a Directioner. That’s the sort of stuff that turns elections.

Malia was photographed at a 1D concert months ago. I remember seeing a story about it on the TMZ show. They were joking about the Secret Service agents trying to blend in with the crowd.

I’m still on Obama being on Power 95.3. Wow. Besides explaining Nicki’s poetic skills did he happen to mention a plan for the growing 16 Trillion deficit or what he’s suggesting about Medicare or why he’s going to tax my ~cadillac healthcare plan?

I am uncomfortable with the perceived assumption made by some that Nicki would support Obama simply because she is black.  However I too interpreted her lyric as being sarcastic and to not represent her own personal preference but that of the character she was portraying.  Had to chuckle at Obama’s wry observation that one’s children eventually “out-hip” their parents… I identify with that remark!!

I don’t understand how making stereotypical or bigoted statements makes someone come off looking smarter or less bigoted than the people who they are trying to put down.
