E! News reports that Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas are kaput. As if they were ever a couple in the first place?

So much for this song-and-dance duo.

Sources confirm to E! News exclusively that 22-year-old Pia Toscano and 25-year-old Mark Ballas, who began dating earlier this year, recently called off their romance.

What happened?

Uh. The showmance outlived its usefulness? Pia’s got her record deal and is releasing an album. Mark is beginning a new season of Dancing with the Stars next week. Lots of babes around who want to see and be seen, right? I’m sure he’ll recover.

Pia’s rep had no comment, except to pimp her upcoming album, “She’s hard at work on her new album and can’t wait for her fans to hear it. Pia is wrapping up her American Idol tour and her album is expected to be released soon.”

    All it really says to me is that the guy is enjoying his freedom. Some guys settle on someone early, some like to shop around before they go into family mode.

    I’d think that if I thought Mark Ballas were a real person rather than a Mark-Ballas-PR-machine. …. As it is, I think he is just inclined to hop aboard the next big thing to increase his own visibility in Hollywood, then hop off and hop aboard the next next big thing, etc. I’m sure it makes his agent happy. How much it does for him in terms of exploring actual relationships or even exploring fun times I’m inclined to doubt, however.

    My sentiments exactly. Can’t say I’m overly upset about it. I thought Pia was overly promoted anyway. I could see if she came in 2nd or 3rd…or even 4th. But wasn’t she eliminated very early on? So right or wrong, my thought was always the same as the above quote.

    A week out of country isn’t going to save her from the chatter.

    I think chatter is precisely the point …. Interscope just “relaunched” Pia. Sounds to me like Jimmy recognizes the initial launch didn’t go very far.

    Interesting, Lilzie. Let loose the chatter while she’s away and doesn’t have to bear the brunt of it. She’ll still get asked in interviews but not for a week or so when it will have cooled off. Meanwhile, Mark is in the thick of promos for DWTS and for sure he’ll be questioned, probably in every interview. By the time Pia returns to US, interviewers will have moved on to something else. I guess Jimmy will like having her talked about without her having to do the talking. All seems kinda tangled ???? smh
