“I just remembered how Josh and DeAndre said in one interview that they will be able to release music only after the Top 2.”

That doesn’t make any sense since Colton has released music before Jessica.

In 2011, Tim Halperin was very open about not being able to make $ on his music because of Idol’s contract restrictions.  He had to wait until September to sell his CD.   However, Tim was able to give a song away as a “free download” to his fans without violating any Idol rules.

If Idol releases them from their contract, they can release for sale earlier.

Just listened. That’s a really good song. Great arrangement.

I’m happy to see Phillip singing “Gone Gone Gone” that’s one of my favorite songs from his album!! I’m also curious to see what other Idol alum will make a guest appearance this season? It sounds like Jessica and Colton will, I would hope Joshua would perform too, according to his twitter he’s going to California this week for recording his album, so maybe he’ll be singing his single on Idol!

Like someone was saying it’ll be nice to have Kelly Clarkson perform, I would love for her to sing again!(: Her new single, “People Like Us”, is amazing! Also I assume some Season 10 alum would come back and perform too. And I’m pretty positive that one of the new judges will perform as well!

Random Thought: I have a feeling that either Phillips “Home” or “Gone Gone Gone” will be the new Idol farewell song, there’ll both perfect for it!

“Gone gone gone” needs a lot of momentum, I think it’s way better than his first single.

It is possible Colton is not as dependent on Interscop. He is up to the start of the show knew what he would do after, not like Joshua or Hollie. We can’t compare. James also released the album immediately after Scotty, Lauren’s album was released in a month.

Josh and DeAndre were probably considered for deals with Interscope at the time. It would make sense for Interscope to space the releases of the Idols they sign. Colton is on a different label, Interscope can’t dictate to Sparrow when to release his stuff.

James did release after Scotty and Lauren but that was because he started recording after they did, his album wouldn’t been ready before November. Wind-up is also not dependent on Interscope.

I’d say it’s more about 19M and Fuller’s XIX. Those signed with either of those companies are at the top of the pecking order.

But that’s what made his single sales of HTH (6K) after that Idol appearance kind of surprising in addition to the (10K) sales he made of MOABD that week.

    Go figure.

I’m pretty sure all reported sales were album sales not single sales. The 6k being the 520% increase in album sales after he performed HTH, then selling an addition 3k the week after. James is not gonna benefit from an Idol appearance if he has no album to sell. I hope they can get him an appearance in May to coincide with his album’s release otherwise they shouldn’t bother.

Oops! Sorry, I confused the dates. But still, the idea is clear, they are on independent labels.

I’m not shocked Lee wasn’t mentioned but he is with 19M and will release an album this spring. I’m sure not a primo spot but it’s in 19′s interest to have him on.

I’m very skeptical on DC. He said he hopes to have an album this year. Just like he said he hoped he wouldn’t take 2.5 years to make an album again. And if he was aiming to have a single out this spring he’d find a way to have a concert for hope in May too. I don’t see either happening. But who knows, if TPTB dream up another random cover song appearance then I can’t rule it out.

I’m in the minority, but I’d rather Lee over Colton or Stefano. *I’m an angel* I loved the Top-3 of S9, but I do not believe in the chances of return of all of them in one season, if only they did not present a trio.

you’re not i prefer Lee to those two

I think it’s very possible he’s doing a single on the show if he appears.  And not having the concert may have nothing to do with if he had a single ready or not.  SIngles are released 4-5 months in advance of albums so it could still be possible, if the album is ready this year.

    “Home” has disappeared from TripleA.

  • jpfan2

Good. I’m glad Home is fading from radio. More room to add GGG. I hope to see lots of Idol alums on the show this season. However, Idol doesn’t always give a song the big bump fans want to see..

  • Indigobunting

Didn’t watch last year, but I am looking forward to seeing Phillip!
Lots of Idol alum to pick from with too few spots….I would imagine the usual favorites like Scotty, Kelly, Carrie will appear?  Haven’t heard anything from Daughtry lately.  Maybe Clay with new broadway show?  Crystal probably has the best shot of recent alum, with a brand new album out.
