    YES!

  • TheOther

Between now and then, Home likely will take over Stronger as the best selling Idol song of all time:)  So I can see his boss and mentor, Jimmy Iovine presenting Phillip with his 4XPlatinum for Home and Gold Album for The World From The Side Of The Moon on the show.

  • tucker davis

This is AI’s way of telling the Top 10: “Look what we can do for you!”

I like the timing. It will give Gone 3X a boost and also spread out the visits as I imagine he will be back for the final like Scotty was.

  • maymay

I hope Phillip features PS22 Chorus for GGG  as an Idol performance. They both even can release a new verson of GGG which will help the sales. Two versons of GGG can sell more on the iTunes chart.

  • jpfan2

I’m just happy they’re moving on from Home.  I think he’ll def get his 4xplat award but I think they should hold off on the gold album. It’s not out of the question that the album could go platinum (at least based on shipments) so they can hold off for awhile.

  • mchcat

Is he going to do the “boot” song?  Scotty will be on AI later

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TP6FDKZWZZOESHA5DCZVTU24T4 JasonG

This is slightly off topic. I was reading that Kelly Clarkson is going to be releasing a new single from her Greatest Hit album and it’s called People Like Us. It’s a really good song and from reviews I read online, many fans call it to be her best song to date. I hope Kelly will perform this song live on American Idol to promote it. It’s been a really long time since she’s been on the show. Wasn’t the last time she was on the show was the season 9 finale when she was singing with the other winners?

  • durbesque

They will dangle P2 before the starry-eyed aspirants.  It will be a kind of victory ceremony.  Hail the Mighty Hero!

  • ptebwwong

Kelly was on Idol S10. She sang with Jason Aldean on their duet “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TP6FDKZWZZOESHA5DCZVTU24T4 JasonG

Oh right! I remember now. Thanks! lol. I hope she will come back this year to sing the new song

  • Mateja Praznik

Well, the boot song is usually done on TOP 2 performance night.

  • Anny_nanny

I expected that Jessica will perform the first of the season. But Phillip has no vacant dates after 03/14 so it seems logical to me.
I would like that PP perform two songs in the evening. Why not? If they are doing a one-hour episode, I want three songs, apart from the cacophony of the current season. AI may invite to two graduates of each elimination – Scotty and Lorain released singles, Crystal and Casey J. I want to see Kelly and Carrie, Taylor and James, Kris and Chris. And I’m ready to do without performans the current judges, but I had never been so lucky.

  • macfae

Alright !!  less than 3 weeks away.  I will be very happy to see Phillip on my tv again…with exposure to millions.   Should give the cd and new single a big boost.
I’m betting it will just be Gone, but would be thrilled for more.

  • macfae

Anny_nanny,  I agree with you. I would like to see as many past idol wiiners and finalists as possible to return to perform.
Of course,  idol will do whatever serves their own interest most.

  • Lobilobi

my only wish is that the performance gives “Gone, Gone, Gone” a boost into the top 100 (or even top 50) on iTunes so that radio play will do the rest.
i would love to see him perform “Tell me a story” too but it’s not happening

  • Anny_nanny

I want to ask “Get Up Get Down” with electric band. Or “Wanted Is Love”. I want to hear “Wanted Is Love” “in-live” finally. Thanks!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I would much prefer to see former Idols have a performance slot rather than people like Lisa Marie Presley. *rolls eyes*

    That’s a very nice picture of P2.

  • potatorocks

Bring on Idol Alums and artists that aren’t on every other tv show.   They should shoot for Macklemore, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Solange for newer artists.   Jack White and David Bowie for older artists.    Bring on the Kelly/Miguel collaboration–people will tune in for that!   They could be a lot more creative with their guest performers and mentors.

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

Have any other alum said anything about being on this season?  I know Scotty has, but anyone else?

  • dishwalla

Nigel said Jessica Sanchez and Colton Dixon will be.  Carrie Underwood always makes an appearance.  It’s a new world with Interscope in charge.  They will always want their artists first unless an alum hits it big like Kelly Clarkson or Jennifer Hudson.

  • Anny_nanny

So far we only know that Adam’s tour of Asia and Europe, so he is unlikely to perform in this season. I don’t want he to be flying across the Ocean because of one of the performances, it’s not worth it (and I’m afraid to fly, Yes!).

  • Nadine_Bitch

Adam’s tour will end in Helsinki on the 22nd of March. So it’s just in the middle of season, almost 2 months before the Finale. But Adam doesn’t have anything to promote so I doubt he’ll be on Idol this season though I’m so hoping he’ll be there. Maybe in the finale with Queen? heh, wishful thinking:)

Though I remember in season 10 when Adam was asked if he would be there he answered ”probably no, because he didn’t have new single to promote”. But then ”Aftermath” happened. So, who knows:)

  • justmefornow

James was asked about an Idol appearance this season during his live stream event from NYC in Jan. His response at the time was it depended on whether he had something to promote then.
Last time frame update for album #2 was still a May release, so it’s possible, especially if they have a lead single decided before the album comes out.

However, it’s looking more and more like this album is going to be a lot heavier than MOABD, so the typical Idol audience isn’t really his demo anymore, so who knows.
But considering the nice sales bump he saw last time on a album already out 5 months, Wind Up I’m sure would love another performance appearance (so would I).

  • Anny_nanny

Thanks for explanation! I will still hope to see as much as possible alums this season, but Yes, the circumstances may be different.
And I agree, I would like to see guest stars and mentors from different genres, but interesting and topical. I am still dreaming about guides-alums, I still remember as Adam returned in S9. AI has a long history of success, and it is not only Kelly and Carrie, so why, damn!, Diddy was mentor the last season on week of Joel?

  • girlygirltoo

I wonder if Crystal will go on Idol to promote her new album, since that is coming out in March. Maybe Stefano, to do his new single? Fantasia, with her current single? Other than that, I can’t think of a ton of Idols with new music to promote (other than the S12 people who have albums already out or about to drop).

  • elliegrll

People always say this, but then idol alums who are signed with Sony are still booked for the show.  Since the split with Sony, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson (her appearance last year had to be canceled), Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, David Cook, and Carrie Underwood have all performed on the show.  I’m probably missing some other people, who aren’t signed with Interscope.

  • Nadine_Bitch

Casey James hasn’t been on Idol after his season, right? He didn’t promote his single/album in season 10 or 11 if I remember correctly. I totally forgot about Crystal. Did she promote anything on Idol?

and while I’m at it, Has Joshua Ledet been signed to a label? I don’t read much about him, so just wondering.

So, I think I would be expecting Jessica, Scotty, Carrie, maybe JHud(she’s in studio I heard so maybe a new single in few months), Jordin(she’s in studio recording her new album too, right?). Cook is always been an Idol’s favorite so I wouldn’t be surprise if he’ll ended up another appearance this year.

  • girlygirltoo

I was wondering about Casey J., especially since I guess he’s getting a new single pretty soon? That would be cool, esp. since they didn’t have him on last year

  • irockhard

James sells albums not singles (like every other rock artist) so he won’t benefit from an appearance if he doesn’t have an album out. We’ll see how things work out.

  • mmb

constantine maroulis and kellie pickler have also performed on Idol during the interscope era iirc…

  • irockhard

Casey J hasn’t returned yet no. Hopefully they’ll give him a slot, I think he’s earned one.

Crystal performed during S10, as did Lee.

    Joshua hasn’t been signed yet.

Jessica and Colton have been confirmed. Carrie always comes back. Kelly, JHud, Fantasia and Jordin are possibilities. As are Scotty, Lauren, James & Stefano. I wouldn’t mind seeing Casey A again but I think it’s unlikely.

Cook appears to be going into songwriting.

  • Incipit

Cook appears to be going into songwriting.

DC is writing for himself, and also for others, we don’t often know which is which, irockhard – but in the last interview from February 2nd at the Pacers Game about three weeks ago, he said again that he was working on a new album.

I’m not gonna guess if he will have something ready for Idol, even if it’s a Buzz Single – or if he will be on for the fifth year in a row – although Nigel seemed to indicate he might, when asked.

I’d love to see Casey J and/or Casey A have a shot at that Idol platform, if possible, and they even want to, but who knows? They both are working a single, and may have a new one soon – and I think they both could capture the audience attention with their skills.

    JMO.

  • Anny_nanny

Can I ask about the single of Jessica or I will beaten stoned? I. Want. To. Know. The. Exact. Date.

  • Karen C

He also said he would likely have an album out this year.  It is possible that he is going to do a single in advance of the album.  I think probably the songs he’s working on with Andy are for him.

  • irockhard

LOL prepare to be stoned until sometime next month I think. Don’t worry you won’t have to wait much longer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jenny.williams.391 Jenny Williams

We’re not sure yet. All we know her first single ft Ne-Yo is bound to drop a day from now. The label has been tight lipped regarding the Exact dates. Rumor has it, that it’s dropping this week. But we’ll see.

  • Lobilobi

she said february so i guess this week

  • girlygirltoo

I wouldn’t take what Nigel says too seriously unless it is an actual official confirmation of an appearance. I’ve seen him reply many times to fans’ tweets about wanting to see Idol XYZ back on Idol, and he generally replies with a standard “I’d love that, too”.

  • Incipit

I wouldn’t take what Nigel says too seriously

Oh, I don’t. Thought I covered all the bases  - and avoided speculation -

“I’m not gonna guess..” – “Nigel seemed to indicate he might,”

I think I put enough qualifiers in that sentence to almost amount to a denial! *snerk* @ Myself.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Historically, it seems like whoever is managed by Simon Fuller can appear on Idol whenever they want (not surprisingly).

  • http://www.facebook.com/djafans Fan Dja

I’d tune in to see Crystal, Stefano, Fantasia, any other alum will do.  Other than that not tuning in :)

  • Anny_nanny

I just remembered how Josh and DeAndre said in one interview that they will be able to release music only after the Top 2. I am sad.

  • Karen C

That’s pretty standard for Idol, in fact the first year, the runner up couldn’t release until a few months after the winner. Now they make it the top two.

  • Jersey Mom

My friends and I think “So Easy” from his albumn would be a good boot song.

  • Jersey Mom

Yes it is sung in full version form, but parts are used with each one that is booted off showing them from audtition to that day they go.

  • Caro3278sweet

I’m holding out some hope for CaseyJ. He’s likely to release his new single – DRIVE PLEASE TPTB DRIVE – at the end of March or in April, so the timing would be perfect to promote it. Yeah, yeah, he’s my snowflake, but he has had t20 and t15 singles. And he’s one of the few AI alums who can say his second single was more successful than the first. So yeah, I’ll be slightly grumpy if he doesn’t get a slot.

I would also love to see Fanny (no matter what you think of her personal life, she’s successful and she can put on a show), Scotty will get a slot for sure, I think, and i want to see his new single. Lauren? Maybe? Her team has been kind of quiet. Hm… PP2 twice for sure. I can’t really see Cookie – he got two slots last year, right? and he’s in songwriting mode. I honestly think it’s unlikely Lee or Crystal will get a slot. I’d be surprised, but since I like their new stuff, I’d be happy and surprised.

For sures will be Carrie, Kelly (if she wants to and with her past year, this would be a nice reprise of how far she’s come), Scotty, PP2, Colton, Jessica. Who else?

So.. how many slots are there available? I can’t really remember from last year. 12? 13?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/OSOOTOBRL4XGHQNICOXCCN5IXQ lisa

maybe if enough people make alot of noise on here maybe that will get there attention to invite C.J. on idol

  • justmefornow

    Yes exactly.
Most rock acts sell way more albums, hardly any singles, which is more money anyway.
But that’s what made his single sales of HTH (6K) after that Idol appearance kind of surprising in addition to the (10K) sales he made of MOABD that week.
    Go figure.

Either way I’d like to see him on Idol just to get some national TV exposure. He always sells well with a little national promo ;)

I didn’t say non Interscope artists aren’t booked.  Phillip Phillips is obvious.  That’s a given.  But Jessica Sanchez and Colton Dixon will take priority before Casey James or Crystal Bowerxon, as an example.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I just remembered how Josh and DeAndre said in one interview that they will be able to release music only after the Top 2.”

That doesn’t make any sense since Colton has released music before Jessica.

  • wordnerdarchie

In 2011, Tim Halperin was very open about not being able to make $ on his music because of Idol’s contract restrictions.  He had to wait until September to sell his CD.   However, Tim was able to give a song away as a “free download” to his fans without violating any Idol rules.

If Idol releases them from their contract, they can release for sale earlier.

  • overthetop1

Just listened. That’s a really good song. Great arrangement.

I’m happy to see Phillip singing “Gone Gone Gone” that’s one of my favorite songs from his album!! I’m also curious to see what other Idol alum will make a guest appearance this season? It sounds like Jessica and Colton will, I would hope Joshua would perform too, according to his twitter he’s going to California this week for recording his album, so maybe he’ll be singing his single on Idol!

Like someone was saying it’ll be nice to have Kelly Clarkson perform, I would love for her to sing again!(: Her new single, “People Like Us”, is amazing! Also I assume some Season 10 alum would come back and perform too. And I’m pretty positive that one of the new judges will perform as well!

Random Thought: I have a feeling that either Phillips “Home” or “Gone Gone Gone” will be the new Idol farewell song, there’ll both perfect for it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/marjanaisweird Aakash Mansukhani

“Gone gone gone” needs a lot of momentum, I think it’s way better than his first single.

  • Anny_nanny

It is possible Colton is not as dependent on Interscop. He is up to the start of the show knew what he would do after, not like Joshua or Hollie. We can’t compare. James also released the album immediately after Scotty, Lauren’s album was released in a month.

  • irockhard

Josh and DeAndre were probably considered for deals with Interscope at the time. It would make sense for Interscope to space the releases of the Idols they sign. Colton is on a different label, Interscope can’t dictate to Sparrow when to release his stuff.

James did release after Scotty and Lauren but that was because he started recording after they did, his album wouldn’t been ready before November. Wind-up is also not dependent on Interscope.

  • irockhard

I’d say it’s more about 19M and Fuller’s XIX. Those signed with either of those companies are at the top of the pecking order.

  • irockhard

But that’s what made his single sales of HTH (6K) after that Idol appearance kind of surprising in addition to the (10K) sales he made of MOABD that week.

    Go figure.

I’m pretty sure all reported sales were album sales not single sales. The 6k being the 520% increase in album sales after he performed HTH, then selling an addition 3k the week after. James is not gonna benefit from an Idol appearance if he has no album to sell. I hope they can get him an appearance in May to coincide with his album’s release otherwise they shouldn’t bother.

  • Anny_nanny

Oops! Sorry, I confused the dates. But still, the idea is clear, they are on independent labels.

  • tigervixxxen

I’m not shocked Lee wasn’t mentioned but he is with 19M and will release an album this spring. I’m sure not a primo spot but it’s in 19′s interest to have him on.

I’m very skeptical on DC. He said he hopes to have an album this year. Just like he said he hoped he wouldn’t take 2.5 years to make an album again. And if he was aiming to have a single out this spring he’d find a way to have a concert for hope in May too. I don’t see either happening. But who knows, if TPTB dream up another random cover song appearance then I can’t rule it out.

  • Anny_nanny

I’m in the minority, but I’d rather Lee over Colton or Stefano. *I’m an angel* I loved the Top-3 of S9, but I do not believe in the chances of return of all of them in one season, if only they did not present a trio.

  • http://twitter.com/bilolobi Namarinad

you’re not i prefer Lee to those two

  • Karen C

I think it’s very possible he’s doing a single on the show if he appears.  And not having the concert may have nothing to do with if he had a single ready or not.  SIngles are released 4-5 months in advance of albums so it could still be possible, if the album is ready this year.

  • Anny_nanny

    “Home” has disappeared from TripleA.

  • jpfan2

Good. I’m glad Home is fading from radio. More room to add GGG. I hope to see lots of Idol alums on the show this season. However, Idol doesn’t always give a song the big bump fans want to see..

  • Indigobunting

Didn’t watch last year, but I am looking forward to seeing Phillip!
Lots of Idol alum to pick from with too few spots….I would imagine the usual favorites like Scotty, Kelly, Carrie will appear?  Haven’t heard anything from Daughtry lately.  Maybe Clay with new broadway show?  Crystal probably has the best shot of recent alum, with a brand new album out.
