Paula Abdul to Perform Her New Single on Idol This Week?

Maybe they’re taping a performance for next week? I’ve never seen Paula sing live on anything else, so why should a performance on AI be any different? So, I’m guessing, yes, she’ll lip sync LOL. That’s why I think maybe it’s a pre-taped performance. Also, because I have a hard time imagining a Paula Abdul performance on the same night as a Slash performance. And, isn’t this Wednesday the night Chris D. performs his new single? That would be one really crowded results show!

They’ve had 3 performances in one night before. But yeah, they might be pre-recording it.

I mean I respect Paula but she should have released the single LAST WEEK!!!

Anyway, I do think she will lipsync. She sounds so different singing than speaking that I think it’s too mastered.

Certainly, it will be pre-recorded. In order to confirm Paula performing, we are going to need stories from audience members of the marathon session they had to sit through while Paula attempted to record her 3 minute version, how many times she cried, how many times she left in a snit, how many times she screamed that no one appreciates the gift that she is. Then we’ll know there is some truth to this. Of course, there is no guarantee that we’ll ever see the performance. I guess Kara ready to break out in a tune any second has lite a fire under Paula.

allow a snarky observation/question or two:

1) Paula — you are thinking of quitting Idol? Who the heck else is going to let you choreograph, sing and babble in front of a huge TV audience? Girlfriend, get a grip.

2) Is it just me, or is Idol now upping the pimping of new singles to the max? It seems like we’re seeing and hearing less of the dang contestants, and more from already established performers touting their last hits or wannabe hits?

Now this might not be so bad, if a lot of these “artists” were a lot more interesting and musically eddifying. Maybe “AI” is just morphing into a new version of “Your Hit Parade” on result nights.

What I hate HATE though is how the contestants are getting fewer chances to show what they can do, bond with the audience, up their game, etc. Duets instead of solos is a ridiculous move, and one very obviously made to protect the precious comment time of the Four Dwarves.

Paula would have fit into the geriatric bad singing for Disco results night. She could have done the Bump while KC tried to sing. Just plain YUCK!

Paula use to sing live all the time back in the day. Quite well too. I don’t know if she’d still be up to snuff, but I’m betting since this is Idol that they will at least lay down new “live” vocals of the song so that it sounds different than the CD.

If I were Paula, or Allison I’d watch my drinking glass, she does seem too eager to jump onstage like something right out of some black and white movie, where the heroine is poison by the person tired of waiting in the wings.

Absolutely. Well we see that every week, but I mean really dance, like there’s no tomorrow, :)

On a serious note, Paula is far from geriatric, and those women from disco week were old enough to be her mom. She might be loopy, but she’s far from over the hill.

When coherent, Pauler is my favorite judge. But the fact that we’re even wondering if she’ll mime is just further proof that she (and none of the others, really) have no business judging a singing competition.

This show is such a mess. It’s becoming more and more about the judges by the week. Next week, I bet Kara’s going to sing that duet of hers. Then the week after, Randy will have a big bass solo. An then Simon will debut a song that he “wrote.” The self inulgence is getting out of control. As are their salaries.

I saw Paula perform live during her “Under My Spell” tour, and while she is no Celine, she is a capable singer. She also performed live many times w/o lip sycning. I think she will sing live with a backing track, as most performers do now, so that he voice sounders fuller.

Yeah. Could be Top 3 night. What’s with the judges choice theme and all.

I have no interest in hearing Paula sing. It’s another performance we’ll be f/f through.
