Especially since the pressure of singing 2 songs is when folks really start to crack.

This is why they ditched the 2 performances, not Jamie, not the judges, not time. Hokey’s vocal strain is palpable already and they want him in the final so bad they’re willing to alter the entire historical format.

I am glad that Jamie is going to be on the show. I think that he is going to be a good mentor. He is a great pianist, and I do like his singing voice. I think that it’s going to be interesting to see him mentor Matt, especially since Matt is a pianist as well.

This means this group will sing 3 fewer songs than most previous seasons. That will make What Not To Sing stats kind of worthless for this group from a comparison standpoint. Especially since the pressure of singing 2 songs is when folks really start to crack. Which I kind of enjoy.

Fox is making a very wise decision.

They are going to get their regular viewers and all the other viewers who are pissed off Obama is preempting their usual Tuesday programming.

It is not like it is his first press conference and it is not like there is anything new beyond swine flu to talk about that you can’t just tune into CNN after Idol and hear discussed to death for 3 hours.

I can hardly believe the mess this show is this season. I’ve seen better production/direction on community access cable shows. And did it just occur to them yesterday that 10 songs would be required this week? Was this a surprise?

So the best solution to the time crunch that they could come up with is to dump five songs and add a “mentor” who’s tenuous connection is that he played a singer in a movie a couple years ago? That’s the BEST they could do? I’ve got an idea: How about making the show LONGER?

What ever happened to the “This is a singing competition” party line? Or is this my naivete showing through?

I’ve been reading this stuff today, and I am amazed and quite frankly stunned. We’ve had an old guy that almost nobody knew but those over 40, Frankie whatever his name was. We’ve had Flo-rida, we’ve had QT, who I know does not sing. At least that would be a link as Jamie is a musical artist. Certainly this isn’t about Miley because we have been lambasting that poor child and her BFF Tayllor Swift for months. Hell Miley has less of a link to the show than Jamie. I don’t get it.
