What did I tell you peeps?

Richard Rushfield of the LA Times was so panicked that the “most controversial judge in America” might be stepping down, that he and a colleague spent the day tracking down the rumor that Paula Abdul might be leaving Idol.

And:

“It’s absolutely untrue,” said her publicist, Jeff Ballard, shortly before 6 p.m., just as we were pondering which happy hour to hit. (BWR, the publicity firm that represents the producers, were not able to confirm nor deny the rumors. And Fox pleaded the Fifth.)

And then:

So we were left with Ballard’s statement. And the notion that a little bird offered — that Abdul’s camp instigated the speculation as a negotiating ploy for next season.

Paula isn’t leaving, and she did it for publicity! What a bulletin. Only not.

I for one and very happy she’s not leaving. I really like her comments more than the other two judges. I admit you sometimes have to filter thru some ramblings, but I feel she has the most helpful comments. Randy is getting useless and Simon is too full of himself and thinks he knows it all when infact he only is right about half the time IMO.

    :drunk_tb: I’m happy…..it wouldn’t be the same without her!!!!!

I didn’t think it was true either. If I remember correctly, during the Larry King Live show last April with the 3 judges and Ryan, they told Larry that they’ve all signed contracts for at least 2 more seasons. I imagine that breaking the contract would have expensive repercussions for either side of the table.

Plus, I don’t want her to leave. It would ruin the whole judging dynamic they have if she left. It just wouldn’t be the same any more. Paula is as much an institution for that show as Simon is.

they could get more creative with their publicity…

Good news to hear. I agree, its about that time to get ppl talking about idol any which way they can.

I’m doing my happy dance. I adore Paula! She is an asset to this show that would be utterly difficult to watch without the balance she brings. So pay the loony woman and be done with it!

I think Paula should leave the show. Take a break or whatever. I use to adore Pauls, but her major error with Jason last year was a diaster for the show. Fine, Paula does these things; however, the next day she should have apologized to him ON AIR. Of course, this was the week that Jason was NUMBER ONE in the voting. All she and the show did was to make excuses for why she made such a horrible mistake.

Paula seems to want to get more involved with dance. Fine with me.
