Paula Abdul yuked it up with David Letterman on his late night chat fest last night.

Paula tells David she’s still not confirmed to return to American Idol next season.

“It’s called negotiation,” says Paula. Exactly! She’ll be back.

Paula expects both Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will have long careers.

Also, Paula talks vote rigging and Susan Boyle.

Plus, in part 2, she tells the story of being punked by Bruno aka Sacha Baron Cohen for his upcoming movie.

Part 2

That was fun! Paula looks great!

I will never understand why it seems so difficult for her to make it through a sentence. Painful to watch always, but I am somehow always entertained by it.

She looks like she has to use the bathroom through the entire interview.

  • LaurelG

Painful to watch always, but I am somehow always entertained by it.

For me, the painful part was watching Dave. Geez. I haven’t seen him in awhile and everything about him here seemed slow, aged and on autopilot. Is he well? He had that one quip about Kris doing time in the federal pen and the rest was very Larry Kingish.

  • gingerly

I didn’t watch because well it’s difficult for me to listen to her stumble and stammer. She did, however, look really good in the picture. She’s dressed like a normal person and left the 15 lbs. of tacky jewelry at home it appears.

  • Sunn

Paula looks good. And she sounds astonishingly sane. Who knew!

  • suebrody

I agree. She seemed surprisingly coherent and looked terrific. I do think she’ll back–I hope Kara isn’t (thanks for writing No Boundaries, you idiot)–and that the series ends after S9.

Best line from Dave: I hear he (Kris Allen) rigged the voting and will do some time in a federal penitentiary. LOL

  • colette

Either I’m getting senile or she’s making more sense. Or both.

  • wellhesback

Why why why can we see Paula Abdul with David Letterman and not David Cook????

  • galaxygrrl

Paula has made sense for the season. I wish she was less loopy sometimes because when she is coherent, she is by far my favorite judge. Hopefully, this will be a trend that continues.

  • abbysee

I think she’s funny as hell, so is Letterman, and those damn Belgians, lol.

  • jlc

Seeing Dave live is the only reason I would ever want to go to NYC.
He’s the smartest, most intelligent and funniest comedian ever.

Paula was great as she was for the most part all AI season. I’m glad she was able to figure out the script drug problem and get her brain unscrambled. As far as I’m concerned, she’s the most human and humane of the judges–even if she does ramble sometimes. (Randy says the same things over & over, Kara is too OTT most of the time and I agree w/ Slezak who said even when he agrees with her he wants to smack her, and Simon is either very complimentary or just downright cruel.)

Simon=Jughead….He’ll be back, what else does he do? lmao

I don’t understand why DC has never been on Letterman either and would like to see Kris and Adam both on…together. Didn’t past idols (before DC) go on as part of the media tour?

ETA: Found this clip of Sanjaya doing top 10 list after his elimination–Dave is hilarious in intro…but seriously…Sanjaya but not DC or Kradam? C’mon Dave…

I thought Paula was great in this clip. She looked really pretty and she was having fun. I don’t think AI would be the same without Paula. Someone needs to speak from the heart. God bless her!

  • Grammie Kari

My biggest disappointment was that David didn’t ask any difficult questions. His total lack of knowledge about the show was irritating, and I like the man. Paula looked very nice.

Wow, Paula really gave us a play-by-play account of Bruno :-)

I liked her here – looking and sounding normal

Paula always looks like she can’t sit still. That strange little dance she did coming out, weird. She just doesn’t ever come off as being very clear headed. She is just a bit too bizarre for me, althought the contestants on American Idol all seem to like her. Dave should probably have done his homework before the interview. He didn’t know names, what season it was, or much of anything about the show. Too bad the only thing he thought to mention about Kris was the voting controversy, which should not even have been a controversy. I’m glad Paula said both Kris and Adam will have long careers, but would like to have heard a bit more about them, particularly Kris.
