More details are emerging from the wedding of American Idol Season 10 alum, Paul McDonald and Twilight star, Nikki Reed that took place in Malibu, CA on Sunday.

Nikki’s dress featured a dramatic train and 100 carats worth of diamond buttons!

For her stunning bridal look, Reed went all out — and embarked on a unique collaboration with bridal jewelry brand Tacori, which crafted not only the engagement and wedding bands for the couple, but Reed’s wedding gown as well.

The final result? An ivory white, body-hugging dress with a “40s classic glamour silhouette,” Tacori’s Michelle Adorjan tells Us Weekly. “It flows back into a 72-inch train, about six feet.”

The back of the dress features 100 buttons — diamond buttons! “Instead of a traditional, silk wrap button, we did diamond buttons!” Adorjan reveals. “A little over 100 carats just on the buttons! But it’s simple and beautiful.”

The happy couple tweeted their post wedding thoughts earlier today. Paul tweeted, “Yesterday was the most amazing day of my life..everything was perfect. I’m officially a MARRIED MAN! Woohoo! And Nikki shared, “Yesterday was the most magical day of my life…”

I hope we get some pictures!

Guess Paul won’t have to be the struggling musician anymore if he has a wife who can afford to put 100 carats of diamonds on a wedding dress. The “Twilight” series must be a damn lucrative gig.

I’m so happy for them and hope they have many years of happiness.

LOL! I was sorta wondering who was picking up the tab!

I do want to see the dress though. -__-

My guess would be that Tacori picked up the tab for the gown-it’s advertising for them and their brand will be mentioned in all the wedding publicity.
I want to see pictures, too, but some magazine probably has an exclusive.

I hope we get to see the dress. That’s at least $500,000, and probably closer to $1 million, in buttons. That’s an interesting choice. Maybe they were borrowed from Tacori.

They are an adorable couple and wish them lots of happiness.

    Lucky Paul :D

I’d also guess that she doesn’t get to keep it. It will probably be on display in the Tacori flagship store. At some point, they’ll probably remove the buttons and give her back the dress. She’s not famous enough to keep a million dollars in free diamonds (heck, I don’t think anyone is!).

Nikki Reed is trending #1 on yahoo right now. Guess everyone wants a look at this dress.

  • songsungblue

That’s exactly it, I think. Tacori owns the dress, and the diamonds are basically borrowed. That’s how those Academy Award nominees end up with those incredible couture dresses.

Consider that Nikki had a 35,000 engagement ring – that’s probably what Paul earned in a year! Unless Tacori created the rings and gave deep discounts for the publicity. That’s how it’s done in Hollywoodland.

I’m a little surprised she went all out for a wedding of 100 people like that. I have her pegged as a bit of a hippie chick at heart. But good on them for not giving SEVEN THOUSAND interviews and details before the wedding. That annoys the bejesus out of me. I felt like I heard more about Kim Kardashian’s wedding than my sister’s – and I was maid of honor at that one!

Sounds like a fairy tale. I’m very happy for the bride and groom.

  • jammasta

Other than being the maid of honor at my sister’s wedding (which would require either a sex change or me in drag), I agree songsungblue. So much about Kim Kardashian’s wedding! So glad there wasn’t a crapload of buzz about it.

    Good for Paul and Nikki!

  • YeahRight

The dress sounds nice. And I bet Paul wore some extremely tight pants.

  • zaclona

I also really hope there are going to be some pictures… because I’having a hard time imagining anything reasonable… why have buttons on the back of your dress at all, diamond or no diamond?…

    Congratulations to the happy couple.

Paul must have a very strong ego to be delighted with a situation where his wife can spend this amount of bucks on *buttons.* That’s probably good news both for their marriage chances and for his future in the music biz. Strong egos definitely needed there.

Shows what kind of world all these folks are living in when the dress designers can claim that this item is “simple” — I know what they mean, but, whoa. Different universe. Reminds me of the richest rich people’s wedding I ever went to. Winter wedding with furs and jewels dripping everywhere — and the theme music was “Simple Gifts.” ha …. Kind of sheds light on why Chikezie may have felt he needed $600 perfume, too. Idols’ Hollywood culture shock must be pretty extreme for a lot of the contestants.

That’s nice. Paul seems like a good guy. I think he is talented. He just needs to find his niche.

Pretty sure this means Niki and Tacori did a cross-promotion business deal. While Niki likely has a significantly bigger income than Paul, deals like that are the norm in Hollywood and she’s been working as a successful screenwriter since her early teens. Like the Kardashian wedding extravaganzas where the brides paid for virtually nothing, and at red carpet events where celebs are asked “Who are you wearing?”, it’s a real-time commercial for the designer and jeweler named and of course every time their brand is seen and/or read in print.
