LMAO!!! Good one koshka….Sigh, why must there always be that 1 contestant that falls sick prior to the start of Top 12 and happens to be someone average or horrid (see last year Megan Joy). In the end, it always buys them 1 more week.

I think the only fair thing to do if she can’t sing would be to replace her with Lilly. :)

Disqualifies Paige and bring Lilly back.

Well, first thought was Megan Joy – she was very sick last year too (flu or something), had a pretty bad performance, but got TONS of sympathy from the judges, and sailed through despite probably having the worst performance of the night.

In other words, she’ll be just fine getting through this week.

Ohhh, and MJ – last night was so cruel with the (fake) song spoilers!!! I’m DYING for song spoilers now!!!

Aww, I must be the only one around here who likes Paige. But you guys still crack me up.
I hope she gets better for the show. :D

No truer words have been spoken. To think she stayed and Lilly went, and now she may not perform. This season just keeps getting more pathetic as it goes! :(

I don’t wish ill will on anyone, but if she truly has no voice, how exactly will she “make it work?” I remember Syesha lost her voice during Hollywood week. She went on vocal rest for a while (not sure how long) and she was able to perform, quite beautifully. The vocalist for my wedding woke up with laryngitis, took meds and miraculously was able to sing by 11:00 a.m. (quite beautifully, too). Maybe this is how she will “make it work” but I think the producers should have a Plan B, which is to invite back Lilly to take her place. :-)

I like Paige. In why is people blaming Paige for Lilly going. I like Lilly too, (I didn’t like that last song she did though) but Katie stayed in over Lilly. Paige stayed in over Katelyn.

I hope she gets better.

Oh, well.

With people able to vote for either men or women starting now, my guess is that Paige and Lacey or Lacey and Paige are going off in top 12 and top 11 weeks, anyway. The weaker girls who aren’t cute little teenagers or recognizably country artists are likely to get the boot first since they won’t inspire much hormonal voting among the AI audience, seems to me.

Katie stayed in over Lilly. Paige stayed in over Katelyn.

That is how TPTB made it appear on the show, but I don’t think we actually know who had the lowest 4 votes last week. I don’t remember Ryan announcing it. We do know that Katelyn and Lilly were the lowest too, though. For all we know, Katie and Paige could have had the highest number of votes last week (not that I think they did) and they put them next to Katelyn/Lilly for drama.

How long has y’all been watching American Idol? They aren’t bringing anybody back. American Idol never does that. Lilly isn’t coming back(also weren’t yall the one’s mad at her interview the other day, my what fickle fans we have.) and Alex isn’t coming back. The general public has forgotten about them two already. Now just tell me what song is she singing, and than I can see if she even have a chance.

Ugh!I hope it doesn’t affect her!!!!! I want her to have at least one more good performance.

I’m sure Paige won’t get the Crystal treatment with the chance to sit out tonight for extra time to heal. I hope she pulls through. I’m pulling for anyone who doesn’t play the guitar which is only like 3 contestants.

Hopefully she can still sing, wouldn’t wish this on anyone (well, unless they were an asshat lol and just don’t get that vibe from Paige). But if it is clear she can’t sing at all I sure hope we don’t have to suffer through croaking :)

Put me in the camp that doesn’t think she’s had ANY good performances. I know we have no idea of who “beat out” Lilly or Katelyn, so it makes no sense to blame anyone. But, for the life of me I cannot figure out why Simon thinks Paige has one of the best voices or more potential than Katelyn. To me Paige is Kim Locke with a less distinctive tone.

There are two other girls I’d be happy to see go before Paige, so sympathy save tonight is just fine with me. But if someone I really like goes home this week (again), well, [waves fist].

I like Paige. Remember, all of the singers sound different live then they do on TV-so perhaps it is more impressive live. While I’m a Shibhon fan, I think all the girls are pretty good, and I liked “smile”-I thought it was nice and full of emotion. So Go Paige-knock ‘em dead.

Simon has no reason to want this season to be successful so I think I will be skeptical of a lot of his critiques. He won’t openly sabotage the show but it seems to me that he has moved on to caring about his own show debuting next year. I even think the reason he hasn’t smacked the annoying Kara up side the head is because he kind of likes the idea that she is disliked by many, just that much better for his new show.

Hey, AI, quick heads up, the sick contestant shtick is getting very, very tired. Every year one contestant gets laryngitis or the flu at the beginning of the season. Last year it was Megan; she got to sing last and she did Walking After Midnight and all the judges complimented her on her brave performance. The year before that it was Carly Smithson, same routine. I wonder if the producers get the top 12 together and say, “Ok, who wants to be the sick one this week? The reward is that you’re going to get some sympathy from the judges and an easy song, and most likely go last, but we should warn you, you may see an early departure if you don’t pull it off.”
Paige’s voice is no better or worse than anyone else’s. It’s all song choice and arrangement. Kris certainly didn’t have the best voice of season 8; he stayed because he knew how to pick the right song and how to arrange it to suit his style.

I don’t get the hate for Paige or the comments above that she can’t sing. She has a beautiful voice and a very pleasing personality. She’s the only one last week who congratulated each one as they were moved to the stools.

She had a very rough week with ‘Smile’ but her other performances were not as bad as people here are making them out to be. I’d take her over Lacey and Katie. Probably over Didi too.

Didn’t Idol already use this story line with Syesha? I guess it worked so recycling is justified. Let’s just pray we don’t get the little placards with words on them.

Okay, so she will perform like shit tonight. What else is new. Last week she was choked up because Michael Jackson died. So what’s her excuse the next week? Someone steals her crayons?

I think people let the fact that their own personal favorite i.e. (Lily, Katelyn) cloud their judgement of other contestants. If yo really listen back to the audio of Paige’s performances you will realize that she actually a great voice with a pretty good range but for whatever reason she seems to be the idol punching bag this year for the fact that Lily is not there. Did any of you hear lacey’s landslide? or Didi’s Lean on me? Katelyn’s Carole King? and Katie’s well, everything?. And you are going to blame Paige? she hardly has the worst voice left and she has potential to do different types of music instead of some idols left who only seem like they can sing slow songs. I am now actively rooting for Paige and Katie because of all the hate that has been their way. I think some of these comments should be censored because they are bordering on hateful.

IMHO she gave one of the worst vocal performances last week I have heard on AI in 9 seasons…that is my problem with her. Don’t think she deserves to be there one bit! Honestly, besides MAYBE 1 or 2 they all are just terrible this season!

George Huff is probably the most famous for being sick three weeks in a row and it cost him a TOP 3 appearance. Diana DeGarmo and Kat also were very sick.

As I mentioned, I believe Paige was sick last week. These things drag out sometimes 4-6 weeks. I wish Paige the best and know the doctors will give her the best treatment possible. Poor girl is under such stress because previous contestants already knew they were on the tour.

Remember, these kids are running ragged and they are sharing hotel rooms and spending a LOT of time together. It’s no wonder they get sick, and I don’t think they should be blamed for it. And if they’re really, really ill and deprived of their voices, as inconvenient as it is they shouldn’t have to perform. How can you possibly compete?

All of you guys are being total hypocrites. If this happened to one of your favorite would guys being saying the same think. America has spoken a voted Paige into the top 12. Its not America’s fault but you own guys fault for not voting for your favorites enough.Stop whining and complaining about last week. That is so old news. Now its time for the competition to get rocking and rolling. I wish the best for paige and other contestants for tonight performance. So stop bashing because the show must go on. period……

I’m not sure if George Huff could of made Top 3 over La Toya who was very good or Jasmine who was sick from early in the competition until the end but still getting tons of support from Hawaii.

Anyway, I really think that there are so many people got sick and so forth because of nerves and stress. And to think that this is just the beginning of a looooong 12 weeks. This too will help separate the good and not so good. It is not just purely a singing contest. Like in real world, it is everything else and more.
I can’t wait to see what happens.

Carrie U. was very sick the week she sang “Love is a Battlefield”. She had allergies and was coughing during the results show the next night. Bo B. had an undiagnosed intestinal problem and threw up between songs on Final Two night. It happens. Somehow they are able to pull out a performance. Looking forward to tonight.

This season is just not measuring up for me so I haven’t voted. We’ll see what happens tonight. Not expecting anything different – I think I’m spoiled since I enjoyed the last 2 seasons quite a bit. Paige is not my favorite but I do feel bad for any of these contestants if they fall ill.

kk613, I have been watching Idol since Season 1. In Season 4, Mario Vazquez withdrew from the competition, and Nikko Smith replaced him. It would seem if Paige did indeed withdraw because of illness, that Lily or Katelyn could be asked back. It would be the one with the most votes. I don’t believe this will happen, but it has been done before!

Kimberly Locke has one of the most powerful voices of any girl to appear on Idol. At this point in time, I don’t see that coming from Paige. But then again, you never know.

I don’t have anything against her, but for some reason, after watching the Top 12 red carpet interviews I do find her personality irritating, and musically, her voice doesn’t do anything for me.

Still, I reckon she is talented and it’s really a shame to have anyone without their voice in a night as important as this one for their careers, it’s like having a cramp while swimming in the middle of the ocean, I do wish her the best and a fast recovery.

Ryan tweeted that most contestants loved the big stage, I wonder who isn’t loving it?

She will be amazing tonight and blow us away. Usually when someone is sick on Idol during competition they give a better performance than usual.

Coming from someone who’s had a throat infection before, if it makes her practically unable to speak like it did for me, just imagine how it’ll affect her singing. I hope it isn’t that bad.

Paige wasn’t horrible in her first 2 performances, but she wasn’t great, either. Pitchy in spots, and no opportunities to show her alleged “big” voice. Last week was just an abomination. Horrible, old fashioned song choice — if she wanted to honor MJ, there were dozens of better songs to choose from, written by MJ himself — and what she sang was very very off-key.

I don’t hate Paige, but I’m not really understanding why she’s still here and Katelyn or Lilly is not. Simon likes her for some unfathomable reason, but she’s got to show it to America, not just Simon.

But Crystal didn’t have a throat problem. Her condition was actually potentially life-threatening and she didn’t perform on doctor’s orders. From what Paige tweeted, she is also following doctor’s orders. I don’t think the decision about Crystal was made by her or American Idol folks that night but by the medical staff involved. Big difference.

Yep. She’s really lucky to have access to twitter/facebook to get the word out in advance. We’ll have to see how Ryan and the judges respond – with sympathy or do they gloss over it? Do they remark that others are sick too or play up Paige’s voice problems?

I think Paige has a good voice too, but she’s been inconsistent at best and at worst, boring.

I listened to Didi while typing an email. She is much, much better. Who knew?

Actually, I was surprised that Paige got it going and did a good job even with the voice problems. I bet she ends up on the tour!
