X Factor alums, One Direction, in the middle of a world tour, will lose one of their members.
The band’s publicist, Simon Jones of Hackford PR, tweeted out that Zayn Malik—who has missed tour dates and appearances, most recently leaving their Perth, Australia performance early due to illness–is heading home to recuperate from “stress.”
He’s the Direction member who missed their last Today show appearance due to a “tummy bug.”
Here’s the statement Jones tweeted:
1D statement: Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.
The news comes after tabloids photos surfaced of Zayn with a girl that wasn’t his fiancee, Little Mix member, Perrie Edwards. He has denied cheating, for the record.
The Mirror reports that Malik hopes to rejoin the band on tour for their South Africa date on March 28.
