Nicki Minaj and Burnell Taylor – Pills and Potions – BET Awards (VIDEO)

What a surprise! Nicki Minaj invited American Idol season 12 alum, Burnell Taylor to perform “Pills and Potions” with her on the BET Awards Sunday night.

Burnell was one of her favorites, despite refusing to save him when he was finally eliminated in 7th place. OH WELL. Maybe the invite makes up for it?

Actually, it was a pretty cool gesture. And Burnell sounds great! Good for him for being offered such a plumb spot.

I have no idea what’s going on with that rabbit.

Very cool for Nicki to make that gesture, but why not Candice? She was there.

Oh well, still nice of her to do I guess Burnell needs promo too, he sounded fantastic.

Kind of reminiscent of the JLO performance earlier this year.

I didn’t think much of Nicki on AI but I love when these judges don’t forget about the contestants and offer them cool opportunities like this. Big props to Nicki

Nice to see former Idol family member, Nicki Minaj is still taking people under her wing. I want to see Nicki on Idol again one day. Maybe as a guest.

“I have no idea what’s going on with that rabbit.”

The whole performance was an Alice in Wonderland theme, and it was an homage to the White Rabbit. Very cool of Nicki. I actually happened to LOVE her on Idol, even though she didn’t fit in well with their target demographic (and in my honest opinion both race and gender played a role in some idol fans’ dislike towards her). Glad to see her offering opportunities like this.

Very Nice. Burnell sounds great and what a fantastic opportunity for him. Hopefully this leads to more good things for him. Nicki looks amazing.

Was squeeling like a school girl when I saw Burnell. LOL. Couldn’t believe it, was so happy for him. :)

Me too. Then I decided that it was probably someone else. So glad it was him.

RE: JHUD in the words of Freddie King, “I love the tip, I love the top..I love you better than a hog likes slop, ‘Cause you are a big legged woman with a short, short mini skirt.” So what if your song was a warmed over mess.

The more contrived Harry became, and the more JLo evolved into the producers mouth piece, the more I missed the candor and humor of Nicki. Glad she has taken Burnell under her breast….er wing.

Vocally, the night belonged to Yolanda Adams!

I thought Burnell did a great job! Just because Candice won doesn’t mean she should get every opportunity. Happy for Burnell!!

  • Lexie O’Neill

I’m very happy that the Idol judges are supporting their peeps–good for her!

  • Dean

I’m so happy for him. It’s nice to see Nicki showing support to Idol contestants. She even mentioned Angie’s song in one interview. I know these square hardcore idol fans were not here for Nicki but at least cared about the contestants.

  • Call_girl

Burnell Taylor sounded horrible on this track. he didn’t enhance the song. :(

  • Call_girl

Candice would have brought this Nicki Track to another level.

  • springboard2

Nice to see one of the S12 guys getting some support!

  • Jae

Very Cool! I had realy liked Burnell. He’s obviously kept with his craft. I hope this opens up some development deals for him.

  • Marko

    Yay, it’s Burnell-m Taylor-m.

  • Brian

Wow, I really wish he sang on the actual song. His voice sounds amazing on it!

  • myers

Is the video blocked for copyright for anyone else? I cant watch the video at all! :(

  • EB

I was really surprised to see him up there but then, it did really seem like something only Nicki would do and it made sense.

What is this song actually about, anyway? Anyone know of whom she is referring to in the verses? Guess I could Google it. :]

  • EB

I feel like she might have overpowered both the song and Nicki. She’s amazing and I would have loved to have heard her but Burnell complemented the track in a subtle, cool way. Just IMO.

  • Liteasy

    I can’t watch it either. It’s blocked.

her haters, and people who take advantage of her fame. she gets caught up in the pills and potions that come with fame and people abuse her
