oceana--I could not agree with you more. This was an AT&T fiasco. I am SURE I will never participate in the voting again. I admit I love the show--but the voting is just a ridiculous corporate money grab. It put a terrible paul over the entire show for me.

AT&T products for texting are more geared to the younger audience, I am sure. But what about Ford, another big sponsor? It's hard enough today for an audlt with a good credit score to get a loan for a new Ford--it sure ain't the kiddies. I wonder if Ford is balking about this? Seems they should. Coke is somewhere stuck in the middle.

I, too, hate the 4 judges. 1 minute 40 second songs and then 10 minutes of yak. Dump a judge! More song!

Even if what you report were true about his arrival on the Idol setà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'and thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s evidence ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s nothing more than unsubstantiated gossipà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬', Clayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s comment still wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be unethical per se. Youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d have to know his motivation was to deliberately lie about Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s singingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'and thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s unknowable.

I think Bill Zwecker, Sun-Times Columnist, is regarded fairly highly. That is where I first read the report about Clay going to the Idol set. I have since read it in other reports.

http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/zwecker/1568484,CST-FTR-zp12.article

It is based upon this, I think, makes Clay's motivation quite clear.

Lie about his singing? What? He offered an opinion to a fellow fan. I do not know if that is a "lie". Again--it was a nasty comment from a fellow Idol contestant about another Idol contestant. That brings me right back to ethics.

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦and we know this how? I wonder how he and Kris would have had time these past few days to brush their teeth let alone Twitter.

The one I quoted was fake (my bad!) but I think I was able to finally find the real one.
All you have to do is find someone who you 100% know he would be following and then spend three hours combing through their list.

You make some good points. But I do think the four judge set-up further de-emphasized the contestants and limited the number of songs performed. This made the show very boring to watch for the most part. The wild card thing was dull and the save for Matt was anticlimactic. The judges themselves seemed far more scripted and the pimping by producers has become ludicrously obvious. And the fillers--including the comedic walk-ons during the finale--are getting old. The show seems tired--and bewildered about what to do next to heighten interest. Even Seacrest seemed less confident about it all.

So AT&T and AI are really full of shit when they say VOTING has increased. Yea, the number of votes may have gone up but that is because the average Joe went from texting 50 times to texting a 1000 times.

Thank you. But make it 6000 instead of 1000. That is the real story this year, and I hope the media covers it. Because it's unfair to people who don't text and don't have AT&T. The voting was always insane but it got worse. Nothing against Kris, but I think this needs to be looked at before next season.

I think AI screwed Clay over.My guess is its like what they did to Kelly Clarkson?

Oh yes, I'm sure they're crying all the way to the bank. Clay's dismal music and his big mouth are his worst enemy, not AI.

But it does mean Clay had a point. The show is rapidly losing its wayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'becoming something other than what it started out to be. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a lot less fun and a lot more boring.

If Clay did have a point, it got lost among the whining and self-pity. He also hasn't watched Idol in years, he says, so his opinion means even less.

It's easy to romanticize the early Idol shows. Actually the show was always manipulative and deceitful, it hasn't changed that much. There have been good and bad seasons, and even that is in the eye of the beholder. I loved season 7 and didn't find it boring, while others did, and I thought this was one of the worst seasons ever, while others thought it was one of the best, so it's all subjective.

Season 2 (Clay's season) had boring contestants on like Carmen, Corey, Trenyce, Kim Caldwell, Vanessa, Julia and Charles. It was not "more fun" in my eyes except for the top 3, Clay, Ruben, and Kim Locke, who put on quite a show.

This season, the most boring contestants were the ones with no experience, the kind that Clay romanticizes. Actually Clay himself had made demos and tried to shop them around before the show, and Ruben was not without experience himself. This year, if Adam, for instance, hadn't been on the show, a lot of people might not have even watched it, it was so amateurish and dull. Kris himself needed time to grow before he became interesting.

I don't know what Clay is whining about because this year the show had plenty of inexperienced and unpolished contestants, even Allison fits that definition, so his complaining about the show being too polished is just hot air. If he had watched the show aside from a few minutes (which conveniently happened to be ROF, a claim I find hard to believe) he might have seen that he was wrong about all that.

praeposà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬'of course there are critiques, reviews, judging and ruling boards over and within professions. Clay is not part of any of that. He said some very raw comments on one performance, admitting it was the only one he heard. Now, that I find surprising as it is common knowledge and many witnessed his arrival at the Idol set in an attempt to broker a deal with Adam for a duet album. He had prior problems with 19 and it resulted in some strained relationships. He was reportedly promptly escorted off the lot.

Even if what you report were true about his arrival on the Idol set--and there's evidence it's nothing more than unsubstantiated gossip--, Clay's comment still wouldn't be unethical per se. You'd have to know his motivation was to deliberately lie about Adam's singing--and that's unknowable.

Besides, you made the general statement that it was unethical for anyone in a profession to criticize a peer negatively. That's simply false. It's done all the time. Politicians criticize the politics of other politicians. Professors criticize the studies of other professors. Lawyers criticize the legal maneuvers of other lawyers. No one in entertainment, of all places, needs to be part of a professional review board or its equivalent in order to legitimately criticize another entertainer.

As far as I know, Adam & Kris are not allowed Twitter accounts. Adam used to have a My Space and it was directed to the American Idol site after he became a contestant. The only offical webiste that he has is:

http://www.adamofficial.com/

You can sign up for his newsletter to get his appearance dates and recordings as they come out and all the info a fan might want. The newsletter is done by SONY. And, yes, I signed up! The site was put online Thursday AM after the results show.

However, I am unsure of the other Top 13--if they can have Twitter accounts.

On the other note: I never heard Elliot say anything negative about either Kris or Adam. Not saying he never did--just never heard it. I have heard him on Idol Wrap and other such shows being very positive about both guys. He thought Adam's range was "some kind of crazy"-- but nothing negative, that I ever heard.

If that is not sour grapes and bad ethics--I realy do not know what is. Even he must have seen the errors of his ways or why do such a twisted and lengthy apology?

I am not saying it would stop me from buying any of Clay's work. The guys is a helluva talent. I am not comparing him to say a Micahel Vic--but it was not the right thing for him to have done. You do not see it as a breach of ethics, but I maintain it was.

There are fake ones, but there is a real one, too.

It seems like there are a gazzillion people impersonating everyone. Adam should make a link to his twitter on his official page. That would clear everything up. I just don't even think he has time to twitter.

Adam twittered:à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Clay can have his opinion. Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s fine. If you get upset about any negativity anyone says youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll never go far at all.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Is this actually Adam or some impostor?

Elliot Yamin has said that Kris is boring, is he now going to get in trouble too?

Apparently only if he criticizes Adam.

I've criticized Elliott but not for saying Kris is boring. He's entitled to his opinion. My problem with Elliott is he said that Kris came in 3rd like him. Ooooppps. Sucks to be you Elliott because Kris actually won and ummm you did, indeed, come in 3rd....ya know the place where by the time you get the PR tour, nobody freaking cares. . I've also criticized Elliott for being so petty as to give Kris shit for singing the A in apologize and not like it was done on the album. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Elliott's best song was a complete karaoke of a cover. Yup, I've criticized Elliott but most people ignore it because, I guess, that they know Elliott was wrong and hve no comeback for me but still choose to love him.

Please rest assured, I'd have felt the same about Elliott had he been an asshole to Adam. An asshole by any name would smell the same.
