This is one special young man.

Note from David to the fans on his OS

Wow, I can’t believe the album release date for “BEGIN.” has finally arrived! There was so much to do in such a short time, but I have to let the fans know how much this album means. This was definitely an album done against the odds, but done for the people who have meant so much to me, and a way to bring them on the journey I’m currently on right now to an extent. These songs have a reason behind them, and I hope that through this album you will understand better why I am out here on my mission.

Muchísimas gracias a todos que me dan apoyo. ¡Espero que puedan sentir el corazón que está en cada una de éstas canciones!-David

David’s album has one original song on it–Broken.  He sounds beautiful as always on it.

I wouldn’t expect someone to always sound the same album to album… that would be boring. Jason is evolving… believe me when I say that is how he sounds LIVE when he does that song. I know you weren’t dissing him, but you need to know that not everyone who sounds ‘different’ is autotuned. :)

David Archuleta when he returns from his mission trip, assuming it’s till making episodes, should try to get on Glee. Could be a great way to get exposure. Just an idea.

I always thought David would have been great on Glee. BEGIN is now #7 on iTunes pop album chart. #22 Overall iTunes albums. That is pretty good for someone who has no major label, no promo, and is away on a mission for 2 years.

Yeah… kinda makes you wonder what others’ excuses are that have all those things, and are in country to support it their music, lol… He won’t break any records, but the dude has hella tenacious fans.

I’m happy/surprised to see that David A. is doing so well on iTunes. He’s been well within Top 10 Pop and Top 25 overall most of the day. BEGIN was also #2 for a few weeks at walmart.com and is currently #38 on Amazon.  The problem is that without widespread distribution of physical cds at stores (which does not seem to be happening), I doubt the BEGIN cd will be able to match the 24,000 in sales that David’s last CD opened with.

As a fan, I think this has been the most stress free CD release week ever. No concern about radio play or lack of label support, no concern about adds for the new single (since there is no single), no concern about talk show appearances/performances, no concern about whether print interviews are fair/unfair. I wish all Idol fans had the opportunity to enjoy the release of their favorite’s cd like this at least once.  Trust me, it makes the new music a lot more enjoyable.

Downloaded BEGIN this morning and had time to listen to it a couple of times. I ADORE the original song, BROKEN, and so far also absolutely love True Colors and Beautiful. The other songs are wonderful, too. Those three are just my first obsessions. May be my favorite DA album yet and that’s saying something.

I bought Begin. on Itunes last night….couldn’t wait for the snail mail delivery from Amazon. I am so grateful to David for giving us this amazing gift….the songs are beautifully sung and arranged.  Love his version of “True Colors” and “Everybody Hurts” as well as “Pride” and “Don’t Give Up”…the latter two which I’ve never heard before I knew they were going to be on this album.  But the song that really blows me away is “Broken”….such a powerful and thought-provoking ballad (almost haunting).   It gives me goose bumps!!  David’s voice and range on this song are beautiful.

    Thanks, I’ll try Walmart.

I’ve listened to the entire album now. The original song Brokenis the best song, and it is very beautiful. It would be wonderful in a movie. I also enjoyed the hymn, Be Still (My Soul), much more than I thought I would. I’m not religious, but it’s just lovely singing and and accompaniment. Most of the other songs are beautiful vocals but they aren’t different enough from the originals for me to prefer them. I disliked one song–True Colors. I adore the Cyndi Lauper original. The drums in David’s arrangement are so distracting, banging over David’s voice.
