Jon Peter Lewis – Two Thousand Ten (Album)
American Idol season 3 singer Jon Peter Lewis dropped his 8 song set of covers, last week. The track list ranges includes covers from Billy Joel, Leon Russell, and oddly, Rolling Stones “Under My Thumb.” The rest of the tracks are songs from a friend that evoke a difficult time in Jon’s life.
“In early 2010 a friend gave me a mixtape. Well, it was a mix-CD actually, but I wore out the CD player in my truck listening to it,” Jon said in a statement. “It was a rough year and those songs got me through some pretty hard times. So, when I started thinking of a new album it felt natural to cover some of the songs from that CD. I don’t expect this to mean as much to you as it does to me, but I have really enjoyed producing these tracks, and I hope you enjoy them too. Happy listening!”

Chris Sligh – Mighty Roar/Healing Flood (Album)
American Idol season 6 singer Chris Sligh has released an album of Christian Contemporary songs independently. Unfortunately, the album is not on Spotify, but you can check out snippets at iTunes and Amazon.
“I am more proud of this record than I have been of anything in a long time!” Chris writes on his Facebook page. “It’s my first real album in 6 years.”

Laith Al-Saadi – O Holy Night, Silent Night (Singles)
We’re past the Christmas season, but there is always next year, right? Still, these traditional Christmas songs from The Voice 10 singer Laith Al-Saadi are worth a listen. You might expect Laith, who brought traditional blues stylings to The Voice, to transform a Christmas carol into a blues joint. But you would be wrong. Laith sings “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night” in a surprisingly classic style. Laith’s powerful vocal and impressive range could handle standard pop or even Broadway, if he wanted to go there.
