I love seeing this . . . because my eyes are tired of Adam. (I like him, but it’s a lot. Conan, Letterman, and Kimmel all made Lambert jokes.)

I am excited, last year was kinda fun not being so invested. Starr, you might find it’s the same for you if you watch… I was able to appreciate more of them because I didn’t have tunnel vision (and fricking anxiety) for one guy. Ha!

@Suzanne: Yep. Kris tweeted about a week ago that he went to Fox studios to see the Idol crew and shot a promo for the next season. People are saying it will be similar to what David Cook did during his season:

Eh, I dunno. Frankly, I really dislike the show LOL I can’t stand Ryan Seacrest, and I don’t like the favoritism that was so evident last season. Who knows if it will come up again? What really intrigued me with Season 8 was how diverse the contestants were vocally. I could probably say the same for David Cook’s season; they were a pretty diverse lot, except I’m not a big fan of David Cook, or any of the contestants, so I didn’t really care so much.

I dunno, I might tune in just to see the Adam Lambert and Kris Allen-wannabes LOL

MJ, according to the press release you quoted three posts down, the Jan. 13 episode is only an hour, not two.

I’m sure we got a glimpse of at least a couple of the contestants they’ll be pimping next season in this commercial.

Dang it! Why is it that I’m subjected to bury my head on books every first quarter of the year? Thought I’d have more freedom now outside the university walls.

I’m hopeful for the next singing sensation in the idol sphere…

I want to know where that time went to. I agree, I am ready for a fresh start with none of the flaws from Season 8. It would be nice to see a girl win this time around.

Yep- that’s exactly what happened to Kris Allen- he is the epitomy of what this show is about . He didn’t have much exposure – both before & during the season- but he gives hope to those this next season- that if you have real talent – you can make it to the end!!
I just hope the ‘pimping ‘of certain contestants by the judges is toned down this year & hopefully if it happens – Ellen will call them up on it!!

They sure know how to make a commercial. The first AI commercial of the year always gets to me, Im super sappy like that.

Okay, at :22…they don’t show the face, but as the girl walks in, on the background is Carrie, and then…GOD I’m a dork but is that the back of Kris’ neck, ear maybe? it cuts to Simon RIGHT before?

If that is, then Kris got some prime real estate next to Carrie. Unless it’s Cook (and I’m obsessed enough with Cook that I don’t think that’s his ear/neck).

Is it possible to impose a 1 year moratorium on comments that include comparisons to Season 8 contestants? I can already imagine the comments that if someone wears glasses they must be copying Danny, or if they have a physical impairment they are just trying to be like Scott, or if they caw and flap their arms on the way to the “In Danger” chair they are just trying to be like Megan. Well…. that last one may be true. But I think you get the idea.

Next season may be harder to watch. I don’t think the top 2 will be as good.

As much as I don’t like Adam’s album (few exceptions) and may talk like I hate him, I still think he’s one of the most amazing individuals to grace the show. Graceful, a VERY respectable and honest guy, and (hopefully) a symbol of tolerance in American society. Not a fan of his music or his style, but I adore him as a person, he’s probably in my top 5 Idol contestants just for his personality and how fun he is. Kris is the same way, my all time favorite Idol contestant, proved the ability to prove the odds wrong with a lot of hard work, perseverance, and endurance, not to mention he’s really easy for me to relate to. He’s almost exactly where I want to be when I’m a 24 year old guy (Although I’d probably not be married yet, lol), so in a sense he’s my American Idol. It’s gonna be so difficult to watch Season 9 without them, Allison, Matt, and Paula.

Also concerned about fan wars >_<. I think maybe this year and Ruben's year were the worst, but at the same time I think most, if not all, of the bitter people left or grew up. Although I did threaten to destroy the world when Archie got 2nd (For the record, I like Cook more now) X_X.

But really, a comparison like Kris and Adam in the media would probably be the worst comparison for next season. If a really good favorite and a really good underdog make the finale, the media will surely focus on that aspect in their careers, at least for an obnoxious while. In reality, I do like Kradam and do appreciate it for being inspirational to tolerance, but I think it would be better for both of them to have more of an individual focus.

Not sure what stadium that is at the end but it does appear to be Kris performing Heartless for two seconds. Seguay (sp?) into a Kris commercial.

I cannot believe season 9 is on the horizon. Here we go again…

With all the Adam brouhaha, the kris album launched, and the allison album out next week (?), it still seems like we’re in season 8…

I would be quite surprised if season 9 can match or top adam’s vocalization & showmanship, allison’s one-in-a-million wise-beyond-her-years voice, kris’s song-arrangement skills & stealth competitiveness, AND danny’s tug-at-your-heartstrings-but-alienate-many devisiveness.

Of all the Idol seasons, season 8 seems like the one that could be reworked into a movie script.

They showed mostly females getting their golden tickets. That would be consistent with Randy’s prediction of a female winner.

More like “insert favorite idol broke Idol last year! This season sucks.” Or the always scintillating comparisons of insert your favorite idol to every single fracking thing that happens in the new season. sigh.

I have to watch season 9 to see what Ellen does. How will she and Simon interact? Should be fun. Also they’re doing Idol Gives Back again this year, and David Cook has alluded to being involved. Can’t wait for a new season, last season wasn’t a favorite for me.
