Naima Adedapo Signs with Peak Records!

Congrats to Naima!  Good luck to her!    Very strong record of signings for this past season.

Wow.  This is great news for Naima!  I really enjoyed seeing the vids from the tour of her performance of OTF.  I do think she is very talented.  I wish her the best and hope she can see some post AI success.

What a great surprise! I always liked Naima but honestly, didn’t expect her to connect with a label. Will look forward to the EP. 

Congrats to Naima!  I didn’t really pay much attention to her during the season, but she really impressed on the tour vids.  I think the tour can really help people like her and Stephano…wonderful for S10!

Actually, so far we know, there are 9. Chris medina, who was in top42, I think he signed a record deal with Sony Norway.

Wow, this was unexpected … but congrats! AI 10 just keeps getting better

Wow, I kinda saw this coming though. That leaves Jacob, Paul, Thia, Karen and Ashthon.
 
I think a Gospel label would be best for Jacob, but I find it surprising he has gone this far since there aren’t that many gospel acts from Idol period. Ashthon reportedly has something on the way, and not sure what the other three are up to.
 

Among semi-finalists, I know that Kendra is signed (she has an album out) and I believe Jovany and Rachel (per their tweets and FB accounts) are signed as well.

Here’s hoping Lauren Turner is next, she needs to be signed…uggghhh she was soooo robbed…

Latoya London was signed with this label at one time. 

she was my favorite before she was eliminated,  i this she should have done the x factor, she didn’t have the best voice but neither do rihanna, fergie, or sabi, i feel like naima should go that route. i am super shocked, but happy nonetheless

Congratulations to Naima!  I actually was rooting for her early on in the season (before Haley took over my heart).  It is so cool how many signings season 10 has produced.  

Fully deserved and a true dark horse story that earned everything she worked for .

I hope she exhibits  some of that soulful interpretation she showed in  ”Long and Winding Road” with Jacob and Haley.

What a difference a year makes. Record labels wouldn’t touch Season 9 people with a 10-foot pole…no one really got anywhere that season…

I guess the new decade in the recording industry is all about signing everyone under the sun from reality television or you-tube.  Makes it a lot cheaper for labels who don’t have to do all the research and development like they used to do.  At some point radio is just going to have to accept this as they newest and most expedient way to discover talent and to stop living in a musical past that has definitely gone by-by.

With Idol, The Voice, X-Factor, etc., Disney, Glee there have been a slew of signings and releases…many of them doing very well.  Times, they are a changin’.

So happy for Naima! She seems as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and I wish her all the best!! 

Paul is working on his album.  In an interview, he said he’d release a solo album first before returning to his band and he twittered a pic of titles last month.  

Would be great fun if all 11 released music this year.  Good way to prove bringing in multiple producers works.

Congrats to Naima!  I’m so happy for all of the S10 Idols – my favorite season so far.  I guess some other people agree!

Yes! Clearly a diverse top 10 works out so even if they don’t win, they have a shot at working after the show is over. Thia has done a recording, Paul has his band and a beautiful bride he met while on Idol so I think everyone will have gained something positive.

That’s great… just as long as the Jamaican accent doesn’t make an appearance.

I am thoroughly pleased about this. Naima was one of the freshest, most original contestants and she definitely was voted off too soon. So happy for her! Naima FTW!

On a related note, Naima now becomes the 8th Season Ten finalist to be signed. One more and S10 will tie with S5 for the most finalists in one season to be signed.

So with Naima signed, that only leaves Thia Megia, Jacob Lusk and Paul McDonald from Season 10.  It’s always great to hear how others outside of the Top 2 are doing.

I like how you put the contestants at the top in elimination order. It made remembering S10 a little easier .

Like Tinawina, I’m getting the opportunity to hear new music by my four favorites from Season 10 — (in no particular order) Lauren, James, Haley, and now Naima.  Actually, I like the entire top 10, except for Paul, whom I don’t get.  (Don’t dislike Paul; just don’t “get” him.)

I always thought Naima was a unique talent and left much too early.  I am very happy for her.  I still see her having some International popularity.  Hope so.

Was Elliott really signed? I thought he sort of created Hickory Records.

Although not alot of promotion, Paul is practically signed and able to release albums with his band anyway…. and hes released music already…. so thats 9 basically. From Jacobs tweets it seems as if hes in some sort of musical or some sort of acting thing but i am sad that hes not officially signed… i love gospel/R&B and especially the quiet storm type like vandross…. and he came 5th! that should count for something. it seemed like a while ago he was in the studio. Thia’s released a single but its not very well promoted and theres no word that shes signed but shes still young, she should really be focusing on school atm which from the looks of it she is. 

Congrats to Naima! i hope theres some reggae tunes on her EP =). and also…. look at these artists Mary Mary, Kanye West, Trey Songz, Musiq Soulchild, Brandy, Mos Def! so in her lane

She’ll be fine as long as she avoids covering Elton John in a reggae style

Naima reminds me a lot of 1990s singer Crystal Waters.

Awesome news! I really liked Naima on the show and liked her even better on tour when she could spread out and do her own thing.

Naima didn’t have the strongest vocal performances, but when she was on she was on FIYAH!  I think she’s a true artist, and I ALWAYS liked her. You go on git it girl!!

WONDERFUL! I loved Naima on Idol, and still love listening to her reggae “Im Still Standing” I’ll be watching for the EP!

I’m really happy to see this – she was one of my favorite contestants.  Her exuberant personality and charismatic charm, along with good vocals, should take her far in the current industry.

Yeah!! soon more music to quench my “Naima withdrawls”  BOOM FIYAH!! (Perhaps a DVD will soon come??!)  Naima’s well planned dream is right on track!
