Yes, I did hear about Canadian Idol being canceled. Is this actually a suprise to anyone? No offense, but the show did kind of suck last season, I only saw clips of it from this site and over the internet, but from what I could tell, it was bad. I know some people on here liked it, but when you have no diversity at all and just the same bunch of people singing the same songs, it gets boring after a while.

I do agree, plus it is hard to break through Canada without going into foreign markets, especially since Canada is essentially 2 markets (Quebec and the rest of Canada).

I think what is happening is there is some jockeying for position going on. I believe that Simon Cowell, Fremantle and 19E want to bring The X Factor to America, but cannot do it before the 2010-11 season as AI is signed through 2010. The signings (i.e Kara) and droppings (i.e. Nigel) are probably those committed and not committed to continuing on the new show.

(Whatever they do though, YOU – as in mj – should be a major producer)

This is actually a good list because of all them are actually really good singers, oh and can’t forget about Alicia Keys, but if they get Britney Spears I am done. Luckily on the X Factor, she neglected the contestants, which was a good thing because she didn’t try and teach them how to sing.

I think it would be a GREAT time to bring Kelly Clarkson back.

Having said that, i think Carrie and Kelly are very good possibilities- Carrie bc AI loves her and she is uber famous right now, and for Kelly- it would be great promotion for her new album.

Um, earth to Ken: We NEVER get bored with the top contestants SINGING.

We ALWAYS get bored when the same B-roll “reality” crap gets played over and over and over and we heard the life story the first time.

More music. More competition. Less repetition of non-music junk.

I hate that they are going back to the group rounds. They really do not have to do group songs as performing artists and minimally as contestants. The only reason to do the group songs in Hollywood is to ratchet up the tension between the contestants. I’m planning on whincing regularly this season as the set up the people in awful situations to see them squirm. It’s so NOT the reason for the show. If there’s a lot of that, I hope the viewership plummets.

There will be more backstage footage of the contestants. Warwick says, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“There is going to be slightly more reality.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ 

You mean what we saw wasn’t real or does he mean they will be adding more scripted reality moments like “Survivor”?

Maybe it’s me, but I never got bored. If anything, last year was one of the most exciting seasons ever. Yes, I was disappointed that Jason got eliminated, but I didn’t give up on the show.

We’ll just have to wait and see. I like the fact that they are honoring Motown 50. I look forward to seeing some of the TALENTED young mentors they are trying to get on the show. However, I don’t hear anything that makes me think this will be a better season.

Yeah, that’s not making any sense to me whatsoever. IOW, normal for the Idol PTB.
