Yes, I just rewatched this! It’s the same video. It starts at 2:48 and he says, “One” by U2. They film that again, then he does the one with “Wicked Games” so I’m sure you are right. His 2 choices are probably not cleared yet. Yea! Mystery solved (sort of.)

My guess is it’s a “can I get it cleared” issue. Which means Adam has to prepare 3 songs for Tuesday until he knows for sure which of the two judges song he’s actually singing.

I hope that he sings “Wicked Games”. I think that he could give a great performance with that song, a better one that if he sung “One” by U2. If both songs end up getting cleared, I hope he goes with “Wicked Games”. And I hope he uses more of his lower register in that song.

I know that U2 usually don’t clear their songs for Idol, but they did last year for David Cook, and they might again for Adam. Does anyone know if Chris Issak is particular about Idol singing his songs?

This is odd, to say the least. They clearly did two different takes with him announcing two different songs. Maybe he has a choice, maybe it’s a clearance issue, who knows.

I doubt it’s a choice. I would think it’s clearance issues but damn it all, why weren’t these cleared before yesterday? Adam will have to prepare three songs and only sing two which puts him at a disadvantage. Hopefully they got things cleared up by this morning when he would no doubt start rehearsing. Adam is a pro and he will deal with this but it sucks!

“Wicked Games” would really show off Adam’s vocals. But would it sound too karaoke? This would be a good song for the middle age to older voters. Very recognizable. I don’t know if a Chris Isaak song has ever been done, so maybe this is the one that needs approval.
“One” would appeal to the 25-35 year old set. I’m not sure AI has a lot of voters in that age group. Since, it’s been done before, this is probably not the one waiting approval.

I will raether listen to One by U2… even when I really like Wicked Game is too in to the line that Mad World so I dont think Adam can ´t change it that much…

I want him to sing “Wicked Games” too. I think that while “One ” is considered a nice song by a lot of people, it’s not the best song choice for Adam. I think that he could do a good job on it, but I think that he could show off his voice more, and do a much better job on “Wicked Games.”

And I think that him singing “Wicked Games” could be all types of cool and give another “Mad World” moment. I don’t see that happening much with one. And I think that he could pick up a lot of casual votes with “Wicked Games”.

I hope that if it is a clearance issue that “Wicked Games”clears first, and that Adam goes with that. Or that both songs clear around the same time, and that he still goes with “Wicked Games.”

Concerning his song: I’ll just wait for Tuesday and let Adam surprise me in that delightful way he has. I don’t think I really care, one way or another, since based on everything else he’s done he should be able to sing the heck out of either song. Plus, with Adam’s legendary work ethic and his clearly evident love of music I don’t think it will be much of a stretch for Adam to practice 3 songs.

By the way, I loved his graduation song and the way his classmates “got it” when he started singing those high notes. Based on that I feel that he shouldn’t have much trouble with his “high pitched wailing” being relevant to the young record buyers out there. Just sayin’.

Chris Issak is a fixture on the USO circuit since 2003 when the war in Iraq started. Almost all of his performing work is for troops now–and that song is his big number. I don’t know if that means anything or not in terms of weather or not he would be picky about clearing that song for Adam, or Idol in general or not though.

I think if U2 cleared “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” for Cook last year, and allowed Elliott and MaryJBlige to sing “One” during the season 5 finales, “One” wouldn’t be a big clearance issue now.

I am inclined to take what is said by anyone who can describe that muffled bit of audio as “clearly” or “crystal clear” with a pinch of salt.

I’m guessing “One” is the one with difficulty being cleared for competitive/iTunes use. Its last use (S5 finale) was a special case where MJB was promoting her cover of it, and of course Elliot’s duet with her was never meant for iTunes. We also have direct evidence (Constantine) and circumstantial evidence (the popularity of Idols singing U2 songs after they leave the show) that U2 songs are requested frequently and, with the sole exception of David Cook last year (who have Clive behind him), always denied.

If Adam doesn’t get the time to add much creativity to his arrangement, then I hope he does “Wicked Game,” because I think, as is, it’s a more interesting song for him. However, a unique arrangement of “One” would be much more memorable if he could pull it off, whereas I’m not sure there’s as much to work with melodically with “Wicked Game”: it’s a haunting song, but you kind of have to sing it in that understated, haunting way or it loses its punch.

Either one is fine with me. I love both songs, though I’m partial to Wicked Game. It’s all kind of sexy. If one is Simon’s pick and the other is his, then that’s great.

It’s pretty clear to me too EllieA, but then I’m a medical transcriptionist, so I hear muffled, garbled, fast speech daily and have to make sense of it, lol. First time I heard it, I just had my speakers going. When I put on the headphones, could hear it.

If it’s a clearance issue, then Adam may want to prepare 4 songs, not 3. If he’s looking at this like a set list, then what he would sing to balance “One” may be very different than what he would sing to balance “Wicked Games”. Who knows.

Yeah, in that 7 minute long video, I totally heard “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak at the 3:14 mark when listening on my headphones. And yeah, I also heard “One by U2″ pretty clearly on the headphones in that same video, right before he said “Wicked Game”. Looks like they just taped the intros back to back and the shorter, clearer video just cut off in the middle of the 2nd intro before he got to the 2nd song title.

I agree that “Wicked Game” is probably the one with any clearance issues (which is stupid, they should have already been trying to clear this for him if they wanted him to sing it.), since it’s never been done on the show before, but “One” was done on the Season 5 finale with Elliott and Mary J Blige.

I do think it’s kind of a bummer that he’s probably having to prepare both songs just in case. Unlesssssss, this is a ruse and they taped both intros already knowing what he’s gonna do, but for some reason didn’t want us to know. Yeah, yeah, I know… long shot. But I like a grassy knoll theory every now and then too.

That wouldn’t necessarily be an issue, since last year, when they moved to multiple song weeks, the contestants only recorded one song per week. So if there is recording and sales issues with either of these songs, he could probably just record his other song for sale on iTunes.

I don’t think he says he has a choice of two .. I see it as that for some reason his song isn’t confirmed (could be because of clearance) and that it is either going to be “One” or “Wicked Game” and as they like to show a clip of them getting their judges text whilst on their home visit they’ve had to film two versions (using each song title) … and obviously when the song is decided or cleared they will use the appropriate clip in his VT package.

I think both choices are pretty epic, but of the two I personally prefer “One.” It’s a powerful song, and I can see Adam putting a lot of soul into it. But maybe my immense love for U2 is clouding my judgement.

I remember reading a while back that Nadia Turner from season 4, had wanted to sing a U2 song, and had to jump through loops just to get them to clear the song that she wanted. She knew that a camera man on the show had worked with them, and she asked him to reach out to them and ask them to clear the song for her.

They ended up clearing it for her, but by the time the song cleared she was off the show. I believe that the song that she wanted to sing was “Where the Streets Have No Name.”

I think that you bring up some interesting facts as to why U2 haven’t really cleared that many of their song for Idol. I think that they might clear “One” for Adam. But even if they do clear that song for him, I hope that he ends up doing “Wicked Game.”

While I love “Wicked Gam,” and would love to hear Adam perform it, I think he’d also do a great version of “One,” I’d like to hear and I think that stragetically, that “One,” is the better choice for him. It’s a bigger stretch for him, and that always helps. It could create the kind of softer Moment that people seem to respond well to with him. And it is very familiar, yes kind of played, but there is an upside that people also enjoy that as part of that.

Alright, alright…I watched this part and here’s what I think. He isn’t saying he has a choice of two. I think there’s an edit in the video there with a weird transition. What you’re seeing there is him finishing up saying, “One by U2. Alright Simon, it’s on!” I clearly hear him saying “It’s on!” like he does in this video…and then he reads the “Wicked Game” message.

He’s such a favorite of Simon’s, I wonder if Simon wanted to give him some leeway in the decision, or at least some warning if Simon’s first choice didn’t clear. It wouldn’t surprise me, is all I’m saying.

Well as someone who is rooting for Adam to win this season, I find all these “first star evah!” out of AI, to be just as fact-free and obnoxious as non-fans. But I know it’s the nature of beast. Watching the blond nerdy-looking kid sing at his h.s. graduation, it occurred to me that Adam has totally reinvented himself–dying his hair, wearing tons of makeup, dressing in outlandish ways. No wonder he talks so little about his background. The voice was always there–but not the look. I’ll credit him with that. Yet the result is artificial–and totally theatrical.

I think I’m going to have to figure out a way to mp3 Adam’s giggle when the girl jumped on the stage and put it at the front of my Adam Lambert CD that I give as gifts to people. For me, that is one of the things I’ll take with me from Adam, the fact that he isn’t too cool to get a real laugh out of something so insanely silly, nor did the incident seem to faze him at all.

Adam has totally reinvented himself

Well, I’ve totally reinvented myself since my high school days and thank god for it! I think a lot of kids are going along with the flow in high school, worried about at least trying to fit in, and it’s not until we’re a bit older and more confident that we become who we really are. I don’t think that makes us fake. It just means we’re free to be ourselves.

ETA: As for the clearance issue, didn’t someone at the military base last night say that Adam told the crowd he couldn’t tell them his song choice because it wasn’t approved/cleared yet? I know I read that somewhere. Let me see if I can dig it up…

Before last year, I was one of the clueless casual AI viewers. I only watched the homecoming packages on the performance night shows. And I didn’t really care if I knew ahead of time what the contestant was going to sing. So I don’t think this is that big of a deal. Maybe there is some concern by AI that U2 or Isack would be annoyed that the song was annouced if they are still in negotiations?

I just think in terms of the competition, it’s not that big of a deal. And I think most people agree it is the casual voter that decides this thing.

The part that people said where he mentioned “Wicked Game” is probably the third or fourth take. I don’t see why he should suddenly change the name of the song, but then, who knows.

So Adam changed his friggin hair color, big deal. Oh and is Allison’s hair naturally cherry colored. And the great David Cook, didn’t he just streak his hair blond, and by the way Lil went from having a really short hair cut to long luxorious locks in the matter of 4 weeks. Sometimes the stuff that is brought up as a criticism is just too uber hilarious.

Sometimes the owners of the music rights likes to hold out until the last minute in order to guarantee the maximum possible payout, which would probably be the case for Chris Isaac.

However, I think it is more likely that U2 may not be releasing their song at this point, since they are embarking on a world tour, and this song is one of their regular staples. They may not want to share the rights for a competing summer tour, compliments of American Idol.

ETA -with all due respects I HIGHLY doubt U2 is concerned about competition from the song being used in an Idol tour. Add to that, as I pointed out above, the profits from the song go to charity.

I think there’s some kind of clearance issue and they had him do multiple takes naming multiple songs to cover all the bases. TopIdol’s source said he actually named three songs but the source only heard two of them. At the time I thought that source had to be wacko but now I’m not so sure.

Then at the military base they had him say there was a clearance issue rather than have him name two or three different songs.

Did you listen with headphones? I could make out next to nothing when just listening to it on my laptop speakers, but when I put on my headphones, I DEFINITELY heard “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak.

When I’m listening on my headphones, in the 7 minute video, at the 2:51 mark, I can hear him say “One by U2. All right Simon. It’s on.” Then, it kinda sounds like the guy standing there says something like “real quick, do take two” (I can’t really make that out so well), and then at the 3:04 mark, after the camera switches angles, I can hear him saying “U2. All right Simon. It’s on.” for a second time. Then, immediately after, I can hear him say “All right, so I just got a text message from Simon Cowell and the song he wants me to sing is “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak” at the 3:14 mark that everyone is talking about.

Where he says both “Simon Cowell” and “Chris Isaak” in that 3:14 spot are garbled, but I could definitely hear him say “Wicked Game.” And also, you can see his mouth when he turns his head back to his left, and it just looks like he says “Chris Isaak” as well.

That! They most certainly should have. You can’t tell me that they haven’t had quite a bit of time to work on this.

Maybe Adam reinvented his hair color and clothes, or maybe the Adam we see on stage is in large part who he always was.

He did not reinvent his voice, vocal style or personality. The HS Graduation performance was appropriate for the situation but still was slightly “Adamized” — even 9 years ago. And a number of people (students, teachers, and people from the two theater groups) who knew him when he was growing up have said that he is the same person he was back then.

If you were “one of the artsy kids” back in High School, or even just has “artsy kid” friends, maybe you remember how hard it was to be yourself. (Please don’t bash me for using “artsy” and meaning something else. That is not my intent. Every “artsy” HS kid is not gay — and very few were elected President of the Senior Class or headed up the Prom Committee.)

I cannot imagine what it would be like to have gone back to my High School 9 years later as a celebraty but I think it would have be an amazing experience.

I may be reading into things, but it looked like the kids were pretty blase and some laughing (possibly at him) before he got into the song. But their whole demeanor changed the further he went on to finally being in awe at the end.

If Adam looked like that now, despite having a fabulous voice, I am very doubtful he would have made it to where he is on Idol. At best, he’d get to a sing off and oddly not be picked over a ‘package’.

I applaud Adam for his message to kids to dare to be themselves and be different. It’s important for kids (and adults !)to know that they don’t have to be part of the in crowd.

okay the Chris Issac song is a nice song, very sensual and tender but I don’t think it would suit Adam’s voice. They would have to raise the key and idk if the song will sound as good. I think “One” by U2 is better for him. That being said I wish they would have given him other songs. I know the U2 song has a great message and that’s probably why Simon picked it but still, I would have preferred something else. Both are a bit too cheesy for Adam imo but I’m sure he will come up with some great arrangement he’s a smart guy.

I saw that on Idolforums a few days ago …. for what it’s worth I don’t think that it’s Adam … I think it’s someone’s idea of a joke …. I thought that it was just single sex school productions in Dicken’s times when boys were forced to play the little girl parts …lol

I’ve listened to the videos of Adam reading his Simon’s song choices so many times trying to figure out what Adam says I’m starting to hear them wrong. Well, I worked all night, slept all day, and just came back to my favorite AI blog only to find out that there was still a mystery surrounding Adam’s song from Simon! LOL!! I listened to several different vid clips, at least 5 times each, on very good headphones. I can hear ‘One by U2′ clearly; I can hear ‘wicked’ clearly; I can hear ‘game’ clearly; I can hear ‘on’ clearly; but I cannot hear ‘Chris Isaac’ at all in any of them. I am not arguing with anyone else’s hearing, I just want to say, is it possible he is saying ‘One by U2, that’s wicked Simon, game on’? Or something to that effect?

Anyway, would it be obnoxious if everyone who has a twitter account started bombarding Ryan Seacrest with twitter messages asking what is going on? Not demanding to know what the song is, but asking him if the reason we don’t know is because of clearance problems. If enough people ask him, maybe he can give us the answer and then we would at least know for sure. Don’t know if it would work, but it’s a thought.

LOL! AMEN to that (both, actually). I was mystified when I read praepos’ comment. Who *doesn’t* completely reinvent themselves at least once or twice (or 10 times) from puberty onwards?! I started reinventing myself at age 14. I’m now nearly 38 and am still changing things up (albeit a tad more conservatively – no more blue or pink hair for me, lol).

The vast majority of celebrities are about as “real and untouched” as a lawn chair that started its evolution as a plastic drink bottle – and they’ve done a lot more than change their hair colour and put on some black eyeliner! Personally I love Adam’s current look(s) – theatricality FTW!

I find this whole “two possible songs” scenario ridiculous. If one is not cleared, why didn’t Simon simply give him the cleared song? Because TPTB knew it would get some attention from the Idol fans. Look at mj’s front page. One story for Kris, one for Danny, three for Adam. TPTB have done everything possible. If it was possible to give him the title weeks ago without losing viewership, they would have done so. I have loved this show for many years, this year it is disgusting me.

I do agree that Simon wants Adam to win. But I don’t think the “songgate” is going to make much difference as it really is the casual voter who picks the AI winner. Those viewers aren’t looking for info on the internet and will vote based on the performances on Tuesday. So it really still is anyone’s game at this time. And I really do believe that.

Because the judges pick a song they think the Idols can pull off. Simon picked a song that he thought Adam would do well on. He didn’t pick it because it ‘happened to be cleared.’

I’m willing to bet that Simon didn’t know there could be a problem, or that he didn’t even think about it when choosing a song. It’s even possible that all the judges pick a song and then a back-up song just in case their first choice isn’t cleared.

Seriously, of all the things that the producers could be doing to gain attention and fans for Adam, this seems like the least likely way to do it.

I don’t really care about the whole song thing. Both are great songs and I know that Adam will do them justice and then some (but how cool would it be to have him knock ONE out of the park and get a Bono compliment – a girl can dream).

What is amazing to me is that after a day of interviews etc he can stand up without any warm up and sing SSB acapella – LIKE THAT… are you kidding me. Glad that he didn’t do too much singing throughout the day. Guy knows how to take care of his voice which is good to see!

That’s because the only person who is not still employed by Idol who could write about all of that is Nigel Lithgoe, and he’s not going to do it. Only producers ever know vote tallies and that kind of thing, and sometimes even the execs don’t know the exact totals.

Okay the people who keep saying, “I think he just says ‘wicked’ as a reaction to the song,” you really need to get your hearing checked. He says both song choices to the camera, so when he chooses what song to do, the one he chose will be shown when they air the clip. In the first video he says One by U2 and says “It’s on.” and then in the second video, right before he cleary says Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, you can here him say U2 and then “It’s on.” like in the first video. So obviously he got two songs and had to say both. Anyone who thinks otherwise is being stupid.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I always thought it was standard fare for the contestants to visit their alma maters. If neither one of them did go, I find it ironic that the one contestant, who was unpopular and picked on in high school, was the one who actually went back. I don’t mean that as a swipe against Danny and Kris. I just find that interesting. I can’t remember is Seyesha went back to her school, but I do know that both the Davids did.

I believe the term “swaybot” is meant to be derogatory. On the show, the way the girls sway often has nothing to do with trying to keep time with the music, and often isn’t even appropriate for the song… that’s why it seems robotic. They are swaying robots… swaybots.

On the video about the mystery song that you posted, MJ, there is a comment by someone who was there standing right next to him when he got the texts. She said the first song was One by U2 and then he later got another text for Wicked Games by Chris Isaak. The Idol cameras taped him receiving each text. It sounds like he will sing Wicked Games if they don’t get clearance for One and taped both to use in his package after they figure it all out. The package won’t show him receiving both texts, just the one that he ends up singing.

I like One but I love Wicked Games so I’m hoping that they don’t get the clearance. lol

Kris grew up in Jacksonville, FL. He moved to Conway, AR after High School.
He attended College Station Elementary, Fuller Junior High, and Mills University Studies High School as a student in the gifted and talented program — all in Jacksonville, FL.

Jacksonville declared Friday Kris Allen Day, but Kris didn’t go there. He has a lot of family in the Arkansas area, and I understand his extended family has been in the area for a long time.

TKAT, thanks. I was kind of surprised that Kris didn’t go to his high school if he was going to his hometown. So he went to his adult hometown. I think it always has to be tough for contestants to choose, especially the older the are. I’m glad Adam went to San Diego because they really did a nice job for him. I just don’t think LA would have been so great.

Just wanted to make a note how great it is that Adam payed attention to his theater arts background on his trip back to SD. Is so nice to see someone who is respectful of where they came from and the hugs for his old teachers there were just too nice for words.

The theater arts needs ambassadors like Adam.

I think the song choice is probably One. Great song and I still love the Mary J.Blige/Elliot duet back in season 5. Personally, I believe though that Wicked Game may be Simon’s first choice and the one that didn’t get cleared (yet). Simon always picks old songs (appropriately, considering his age)…Roberta Flack for David Cook and Somewhere over the rainbow (?) for Kat McPhee. But his picks are always brillaint though and he knows the contestants he picks for can pull it off. I don’t know…if Adam does wicked game with sort of track of my tears vibe/stripped down performance, he could really have a moment there.

And I think being Simon, he sticks by his first choice coz he knows it would be extraordinary. I still believe today that Kat McPhee was in finale based solely on that Simon’s song choice for her. It really made her shine.

Isn’t “Wicked Game” all of two years older than “One”? I was actually surprised to learn it was technically an 80s song.

I saw Chris Issak live not so long ago and remember thinking when he did Wicked Game that it would be a great song for Adam. Chris has a really smooth voice and like Adam goes effortlessly between his lower and upper registers, though his voice is a bit deeper than Adam’s I think the vibe of the song would work really well esp in contrast to the other two for Kris and Danny.

If the song is One would love to see an acapella part to it, I think there is an acapella version of it by U2 floating around somwhere… just a thought. Would be super moving done that way.

The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about in the HIM version was that it was more about the band than the singer.

Somehow, I get the feeling that if Wicked Game is indeed the song that Adam winds up with, we will see a *new, completely different version* than anything we have seen before. That is *so* Adam, and that’s why we love him.

Welcome aboard! Yes, he does say “One” in that video. But there is a second take where he says Simon’s song choice for him is “Wicked Game.” At this point, no one knows for sure which one he’ll be singing.

That’s one more reason I prefer Wicked Game for Adam. Depending on what his other song is like, he can make Wicked Game slow and quiet or he can do a more rock version. A San Diego resident who was at Sea World posted this on an Adam Lambert fansite:

He/She said, that first off, that Adam’s radio appearances were not made public notice, that the public only got wind of it through the internet scedule if they had internet, or when the TV station announced it that morning, minutes before Adam arrived. The person went on to say that the highschool only seated 4,000 people and that there was about 3,000 on lookers from the road and mountain tops. So around 7,000 people were there. OK, now here is the big one. Apparently the Seaworld event, was so crowded with fans, that it turned chaotic. Not only did you have to walk for 3 miles, yes she said you had to park nearly 3 MILES away, but that the crowd overwhelmed the security and tried to cross the barriers and for security reason’s SEAWORLD cancelled the appearance, that it was not Adam who cancelled. She also said that if she had to estimate the crowd from where she had to walk from, that she was thinking around 25,000 people . She also said Adam chose to do his homecoming in Hollywood and then changed his mind Wednesday Morning to go to his school, so San Diego only had 2 days to prepare for him, where as Kris and Danny’s hometown had over a week and that is why he didn’t end up in some large staduim, it was to short of notice I guess. She also mentioned that he spoke too the Theatre Kids and some other group at the school. The Military thing was closed to the public, but he got a military fly over and she went on to mention that they met him and asked about him about the streaker and that he said she had guts and that he was flattered.

It wasn’t Adam who canceled SW! I really hope the people who paid for the ticket and walked three miles to see him won’t get angry It will be REALLY bad for him at this point in the game

I know that the meaning of all lyrics are down to personal interpretation but I don’t see this at all.

To me it’s just about anyone who has fallen for someone that they knew they shouldn’t .. they knew it was wrong, was bad for them, wouldn’t work out, but they just couldn’t help themsleves. I see nothing in the lyrics that would be awkward for Adam to sing as he, like most of us, will have experienced these kind of feelings .. and it has nothing to do with sexual preferance .. it’s about the person you fall for.

I’m hoping now that he goes with ONe and sings it in that ethereal voice that only he can do.

Yeah, I don’t get how Wicked Game implies anything anti-gay. Just seems like a song about somebody different from what the singer expected, not necessarily of the same gender.

I think wicked game is Adam’s personal favorite too. The giant drag version is on his playlist on myspace.
I want him to do One though. It is awesome song not sure why many people don’t like it. I think it is appealing to many casual viwers and he would gain some new fans because of it. There doesn’t appear to have ever been an event scheduled at Sea World. I saw it on a number of online sites, but never any official schedule. And when a couple of bloggers call SeaWorld early that morning, they were told that nothing was scheduled. I know someone who contacted Joe’s blog place to tell them there schedule was wrong.

Was there ever an official visit to SeaWorld as part of Adam’s homecoming? And if there were 25,000 people their for a cancelled event, wouldn’t there be some press report, YouTube video, photos?

Well, in the end, I think that the San Diego visit was great — with the focus on Children’s Arts Groups, Adam’s recognition of the High School Band etc., and the military visit. Particurly because the City, and everyone involved, had less than a week to put this together.

I think there was, actually. The San Diego Tribune had it listed and then in a later article said the visit to Sea World had been cancelled, but didn’t give a reason for the cancellation.

Somebody who is more skilled at the twitter thing than me should try asking her about Adam’s song. Maybe is she knew that we already know Kris’s song (it’s definitely not a secret), she’d tell us which one Adam’s singing. It’s worth a try. I’m on twitter, but never tweet. I agree Ellie2. Apologize is one of my favorite songs, I think it’s beautiful– so that’s how I took it. To be honest I imagine that Kris (and I do like him) must be really straining on those high notes.

Someone on another forum found this account of someone who was in San Diego. idk how accurate it is, but it’s interesting

He/She said, that first off, that Adam’s radio appearances were not made public notice, that the public only got wind of it through the internet scedule if they had internet, or when the TV station announced it that morning, minutes before Adam arrived. The person went on to say that the highschool only seated 4,000 people and that there was about 3,000 on lookers from the road and mountain tops. So around 7,000 people were there. OK, now here is the big one. Apparently the Seaworld event, was so crowded with fans, that it turned chaotic. Not only did you have to walk for 3 miles, yes she said you had to park nearly 3 MILES away, but that the crowd overwhelmed the security and tried to cross the barriers and for security reason’s SEAWORLD cancelled the appearance, that it was not Adam who cancelled. She also said that if she had to estimate the crowd from where she had to walk from, that she was thinking around 25,000 people and apparently. She also said Adam chose to do his homecoming in Hollywood and then changed his mind Wednesday Morning to go to his school, so San Diego only had 2 days to prepare for him, where as Kris and Danny’s hometown had over a week and that is why he didn’t end up in some large staduim, it was to short of notice I guess. She also mentioned that he spoke too the Theatre Kids and some other group at the school. The Military thing was closed to the public, but he got a military fly over and she went on to mention that they met him and asked about him about the streaker and that he said she had guts and that he was flattered.

if this is correct, I hope that people know that it wasn’t Adam that cancelled, because he needs the support and votes more than ever now!

My daughter’s sister-in-law works at Sea World and she said that it was absolute Chaos there..they were not prepared for the large amount of people that showed up…she said she didn’t know how many people were there, but when you looked out into the parking lot and surrounding areas all you could see was a sea of bodies….they panicked and cancelled ….too bad because it would have been great to have something like that documented…..

I don’t know about SeaWorld, but I do know that on Friday one of the San Diego Fox stations reported there were over 25,000 people at one of Adam’s events. Which one I don’t know.

Well there weren’t 25,000 at the High School — police estimate there was 7,000 including people on hill. NBC News said 10,000. And the Bob Hope Theater only seats about 1,500.

All I know is that the visit reflects well on Adam IMO. And AI should have some great Adam footage. :lol_wp: (I was was worried it might be like Katherine’s.)

I think all three hometown visits looked like they were fun.

Poor Katharine’s homecoming was truly pitiful. I know she lives/lived in LA, but it was downright painful. I remember reading that people were paid to show up with signs but don’t know if there was any truth to that or not. Either way, it was something I’d hate to see repeated … for anyone.

As far as I can tell, the AI producers wanted a SeaWorld appearance because they like to include local attractions in the on-air video and tentatively scheduled it. But Adam wanted to visit the local arts center and military base.
The Adam at SeaWorld event included Joeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ Blog Place schedule and online in a number of places. No doubt since it was on many Websites, people went there to see Adam.

But this is what FoxTV had up on their Website on 5/7/08 at 3:08PM; same thing posted at Ricky.org later in the afternoon:

I think the operative word in the Tribune article is à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“TENTITIVEà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . That means to me that there was some plan to have an event at SeaWorld but it was never finalized. Also, it was never on the SeaWorld event schedule.

I think Adam’s homecoming was terrific. The crowds loved him and he was charming and gracious. It’s funny because his homecoming, to me, seemed like the one that was closest to what I traditionally think of what an AI homecoming visit should be. I am thinking primarily about his visit to his high school, seeing old teachers and visiting students. It was nice to see him get a kick out of watching the high school band and cheerleaders follow the car. Then the pep talk to the students that it’s ok to feel weird, and that anyone can be a success if you believe in yourself.

The visit to the theater he performed at as a kid was also very warming. That capped with the singing of the SSB at the Marine base, whyI don’t think you could get better than that.

Could Adam have filled a 20,000 person capacity theater? Sure. But that didn’t seem to be his primary goal. To me, it didn’t seem so much about performing for him, but rather to connect to his past and to reach out to others. I really don’t think it could have gone any better. I think San Diego did great!

Ummmm, I doubt seriously that Adam made the choice to cancel, IF there was supposed to be an event at SeaWorld.

I think it’s a bogus story. Either from an Adam fan who wanted to say that Adam had as many people as Danny and Kris, or from someone just playing games. But there are dozens of fan videos from every other Adam homecoming event so until someone show me pictures of 25,000 people at SeaWorld, I will continue to believe it’s a fantasy.

Wicked Game would be an interesting choice, Adam will finally have to dial it down to do it justice.

Okay–I have been painfully studying (to my shame) all the vids from every angle of Adam at the AT&T store announcing Simon’s song choice for him.

The reason people think he received two texts from Simon is because after he announces ” I just got a text from Simon Cowell…”One by U2…” he then has to go thru the motions of looking at the phone again and repeating what he just said because he didn’t have a mic the first time and one of the camera guys wasn’t rolling. So, he makes 2 diff announcements for 1 song. “Wicked Game” is not mentioned.

If I have to I will go back and find the vids and post the links here. There were 2 diff. ones that shot the same moment but from diff angles. However, I am positive about this. “One” is the only song Simon texted him.

The reason for the cancellation was that they couldn’t handle the 25000 crowd as it was without him there and didn’t want to take the risk.

The problem is this hasn’t been publicised as such and so many if not all of the 25000 probably think Adam cancelled on them.

Belle, the San Diego Tribune article clearly says the event was “tentitively scheduled” and I think that it makes sense that SeaWorld would not want to have a free, public event for 25,000 people. I just can’t find anything except blogs and fansites that had the event listed on it as a scheduled event.

It was also not on the VisitSanDiego Website run by the Convention and Visitors Bureau who issued the Friday morning Twitter that there was no Adam Lambert SeaWorld apperance. They did not use the word cancelled — just that there was no event.

A SeaWorld event was not mentioned in the Fox station’s Thursday night 10PM news report either — it mentioned the appearance at MCHS as the public event and included Miramar.

Adam’s homecoming was pulled together in just a few days and there were two last minute additions to the schedule — visit to Children’s Art Center and Miramar event. It is no wonder there was a lot of confusion about what was going on.

ryan seacrest just tweeted (twittered -gawd knows!) that idols got told 2 song choices while they were visiting their home towns -the judges choice and their own choice (i.e. clearances ok I suppose). Wonder if that solves the adam song choices issue? what do you think?

These are from people who were actually there–not tube watchers–and I am awaiting replies from two other vid posters.

I am not doing this to annoy or to argue. I am doing this because the “Wicked Game” rumour is just that–a rumour and a fabrication–and a prime example of what happens when people start speculating without having facts. The “WD” fabrication began with one person posting on a blog said that “it sounds like he’s saying “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak”. Everyone took that and ran and it has burned like a wildfire. Simon did not text Adam twice–much less 3 times as some are even saying now–and he did not announce Wicked Game as another option. The whole thing is a misinterpretation by one person and blown out of proportion by hundreds of others. When someone suggests something they think they have heard, others will hear it too only because that is what they are listening for–the idea has already been placed in their heads.

Luckily, this is a benign topic—but just imagine if it weren’t; if it were something that was defamating to someone and people kept posting it as if it were fact. In addition, I personally get tired of reading things I get excited about, only to hear later it was not true. This “second text/Wicked Game” claim is not true. Period.

ETA: This now may not be such a benign topic afterall. The “WD” controversy has stirred the Danny & Kris fans into a frenzy, believing Adam received two song choices to choose from, and yet their respective idols did not–and they are now calling “foul”. This could possibly be detrimental to Adam’s chances should others believe it and feel Adam has been given an unfair advantage.

Again–don’t post things you don’t have facts to back it up with. Just because a lot of people say it doesn’t make something true.
