Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Oct 20-26

Four milestones this mondy from four different artists from 3 different shows.

First up are the Idols. Daughtry has their second milestone in as many weeks. “Battleships”, the second single from their fourth album, has been working its way up the HAC chart to top 20. This week, it debuts on the AC chart in the top 50. Carrie Underwood is getting ready to release her fifth album which will consist of her Greatest Hits plus a few new songs. One of those new songs is the debut single “Something in the Water”. The song has had a fast trip up its native chart, Country, and debuted on the Christian charts last week. This week, the song went top 40 on CAC.

The UK X-Factor franchise has produced a lot of stars in the UK, but only a few of them have had success on our side of the Atlantic. One of those successes is undeniably are the third place finishers from Season 7, One Direction. Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis are in the middle of their successful world tour, but that doesn’t stop them from releasing the debut single for their upcoming fourth album (named “Four” – it will likely be their fourth BB200 chart topper). “It’s Your World” goes top 20 on Pop.

Finally, we have Raelynn from the third season of the US version of The Voice. She was eliminated the third week of the live shows finishing in the 13th-16th range. Her single “God Made Girls” kicked it into high gear this week with huge spincreases of over 50% of what it had been spun the previous week (1502 spins the previous week, 857 spincrease this week). This is likely due to her being selected as an iHeartRadio “On the Verge” artist. “On the Verge” selections receive a minimum of 150 spins from iHeartMedia’s radio stations within a given genre (iHeartMedia is Clear Channel’s new name). This has moved her up quickly into the top 30 on Country.
