Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Oct 17-23

La’Porsha Ranae made it a horse race with Trent Harmon on the last year of American Idol and now she has her post-show debut song debuting on the charts. “Good Woman” kicks off its run on UAC in the top 40.

In the penultimate season of Idol, Nick Fradiani won and his “All on You” is making tracks on the chart. The song has moved into the top 40 on HAC. It is also currently top 40 on Pop, getting very close top top 30.

On the Album front, the Kings of Leon are confirmed to have the number one album. “Walls” is their 7th studio album and first to top the chart. The rest of the chart looks pretty grim. Lady Gaga will have the number one album next week with her twangy take on Rock.

In other news, it looks like Grammy winners can take the stage confident that Kayne West isn’t going to wrench the mic out of their hands. He is threatening not to attend the Grammys if Frank Ocean isn’t nominated. Since Frank Ocean’s reps neglected to fill in the nomination papers for the two albums he released last year, his chances of getting nominated don’t look good. Kayne also released an album – will he truly not come if gets elected?
