Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Nov 16-Dec 2

The charts, they are a churning right now. A massive exodus from the HAC charts help to give us two milestones on that chart while Christmas songs help to create 1 milestone on AC and 3 on CAC. Country, Pop and Urban radio each give us one milestone.

Let’s start with those Christmas songs. The biggest mover this week is Jordin Sparks who jumps into the top 10 on AC with “Do You Hear What I Hear”. This version from the Season 6 winner appears on the “A Very Special Christmas – 25 Years” featuring various artists (including Voice Judge, Christina). If you are not a Christmas song (or a new song from P!nk) you are sliding backwards on this chart at an alarming rate. Not to worry, those songs will soon be back in January.

Over on CAC, Mandisa’s “It’s Christmas” accelerates into the top 30 this week while Jason Castro’s “Gloria! Hark the Heard Angles Sing)” slides into the top 40. Swimming against the current, his non-Christmas song, “Only a Mountain” falls backward up the chart 5 slots and into the top 15. While the song is losing spins, it is losing them at a much slower rate than the other songs around it which will likely put the song in a very good position in the new year.

Over on HAC, Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath” jogs into the top 15 and Vicci Martinez’s “Come Along” moves into the top 40. Meanwhile, we say goodbye on this chart to Daughtry, Hedley, Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction.

Phil Phillips always seems to have a milestone these days and this week is no different. He continues to top the AAA chart and has moved into the top 10 on Pop. “Home” is top 10 in 4 formats this week, top 40 in 5. Amazing.

Over on Country, Carrie Underwood continues her relentless march to number 1 with “Two Black Cadiallacs” stepping into the top 30.

Our final milestones is from Marcus Canty. I swear, this guy gets more singles than people who move a million units. He’s going to release an entire album of singles before we see that album (currently scheduled for late January, 2013). “Used By You” is single number 3 and it just makes our chart this week at number 50 on Urban.
