Monday Morning Mediabase Update: May 25-31

Updated: Six Milestones this first Monday Morning of June – two of them personal new highs.

Let’s start off with our newly minted American Idol. Scott promised to make him a star and is at least taking the right first steps. Nick’s coronation song is charting on Pop (which you can’t say about many coronation songs – most of them might have gotten a few mercy spins from their local stations plus a couple of curiosity spins). “Beautiful Life” starts in the top 50.

Another personal milestone comes from Canaan Smith. He decided to race around the world with a woman who was terrified of heights and could not be convinced to go down a waterslide in a reasonable amount of time. But, he is now reaching new heights with “Love You Like That” being his first single to hit top 10 in Country.

Chase Rice took a different tack. He decided to go live in the jungle and make strategic alliances. He played well enough to make final 3, but the jury split and he lost the title by just one vote (5 to 4). Now the listeners are voting and his “Gonna Wanna Tonight” just climbed into the top 30 on Country. He had a single (“Ready Set Roll”) achieve top 5 in the past.

Back to Idol, we have original recipe Idol winner Kelly Clarkson making two milestones in two weeks. Last week “Invincible” debuted on the HAC chart, this week she enters the top 30. This is the second single off of her 7th studio album, but it is hardly the first time she’s achieved top 30 on HAC.

Finally, we have the seventh place finisher from the 11th season of American Idol. Colton Dixon has achived top 20 on CAC with “Through all of It” from his second album “Anchor”. It was recently featured on one of the extras for the NBC series “Beyond AD” (Mark Burnett’s (producer of Survivor and the Voice) bibilical saga).

Updated to add Emily West from the 9th season of America’s Got Talent. Emily achieve’s top 50 on the AC charts with her song “Bitter”. She is a pop/country artist and previously charted on the Billboard Country charts including a duet with Keith Urban in 2010. This is likely a personal high for Emily on the AC chart, but I’m not as sure about her airplay history.
